Love this hair braiding shop. The raiders are very nice and professional. I show them a picture of what u want done and they do it and even better. Their prices are also very reasonable and they’re pretty quick. This is definitely my new go to hair braiding salon.

–1000 stars for them! I went there got my braided two months ago, by Bianka, she did a wonderful job until I took my hair down and had strands of my own hair in the braids! Not to mention my hair is all shredded up in the back, and when I brushed my hair it was enough hair to fit on someone’s head! So I called the owner, she accused me of doing this, which I always cut the braids all the way at the bottom to make sure I don’t cut my hair because it’s long, she cursed me out and told me to take them to court which I am! I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worse enemy! Also they used some hair they had in the shop that I’ve never even seen before

I got my hair braided a week and a half ago and already my braids are starting to slide and looks old. My hair was braided by two different people an some of my braids are longer then others. my parts are also extremely large for the size braids that are installed in my head so it looks like I have very few braids for my large head. I paid 200 for my hair and I am not happy. Use a mirror and check your parts cause they fool you by making the braids closer to the top of your head smaller. Unsatisfied

I’ve been coming here for over so many years it’s hard to count. I will not let anyone else braid my hair! When walk in and when I leave here I know what my hair is gonna look like and how long it will last. Braided perfection! Braids on Fleek! These ladies are quick and neat!

I loved my experience. They did a great job with my micro braids. For the most part only 1 braider but she was fast and good. The place was spacious and clean. She took no breaks, offered me a break if I needed it. All the staff were friendly. I will be going back.

I won’t take my daughters anywhere else to have their hair braided. Nama and Awa are the fastest most efficient braiders. The salon is family friendly, professional and conveniently located near Lake Merritt. My daughters don’t mind the 6 hour time out because they know they will walk out looking beautiful and satisfied.

I have been coming year for more than 5 years. Mama is excellent she works at a fast steady pace. I’ve gotten kinky twist and singles and not once have I been disappointed. Their prices may be higher than other places, but the consistency of the work makes it worth it.

I was referred to Diomas back in 2009 by my hair dresser SanDreka @ a hair fetish(who is one of the best in Oakland). Anyway I was referred by her to get a affordable sew in weave. Upon my first visit I was VERY please Nndae(Im not sure of the spelling) listened to how I wanted my hair and put in her own opinions from experience. She did a GREAT job! She made very small braids which made my weave last a very long time. and WASNOT bulky at all! Now beware this ISNOT a beauty salon it is a BRAIDINGSALON! Therefor they do not style the hair, which isn’t a problem for me since I have quite a bit of knowledge myself. I have gotten my hair done here many many times and was pleased just about every time. and the time when I wasnt completely happy with the out come Nndae scheduled me to come back so she could fix the problems FREEOFCHARGE! You have to understand these ladies do not have the same american customs, same when you go to a nail salon. Am I right? So what may come off as not so plesant to you they may not be sure of. So let them know(instead of ranting and raving online) and Im sure they will fix the problem. All in all they create a family like bond with you if you are a regular there and they have many regulars. They do a terrific job and are very informative!

They do great work period. I don’t need a friend i need my hair done and that’s what i get. All braids are the same size(no big braids in the back) and they have fair prices.

When this shop first opened I followed the owner whom had left another shop. The work used to be excellent and people from all over would come to get their hair braided. I stopped coming her a long time ago after they told me my hair was too long.

i will never go back!!! this palce is dirty to start off with and they dont seem to have their business together i didnt even get greeted when i walked in! i felt like they didnt want to give me the style i wanted because it would be too much work for them their price range is way too high i felt like they didnt want do my hair because its so long they kept trying to give me big braids and if i wanted medium braids id be spending $ 120 just to have my natural hair braided !!! i just felt like they have the nerve to charge so much when their salon isnt up to part to even be a salon!!!

When I first started going to African braid shops years ago, this is one of the first ones I went to. As the other poster stated, don’t come here if you want a sewn in weave. When I got one years ago, it was bulky looking and the stylist did not cut or style it. I now know to stick strictly to braids!

Too bad my first Unilocal review is a bad one. I made an appointment here, then went to visit the shop in person the day before to meet the braider and get the rate for my style. Most braid shops(rather, every one I’ve been to for the last 10 years) have a little book with sample braids in different widths with the rates listed so that you can choose what you want and pay an expected price for it. When I asked if this shop had such a book, I was directed to cut-out magazine pictures in a photo album, told to choose a style and then I would be told the price. Um, okay. I did so, then asked for the same style with wider braids. The woman I spoke to had a problem with me wanting to adjust the style and told me I had an ‘attitude’ and that she has been braiding for over 8 years and no one has ever had a problem with the price. Then she stated that she didn’t know if the braider would be able to be there the next day for my appointment or not(after I had already confirmed it?) I’ve been getting my hair braided for 20 years. I’m not new to this. The advantage of knowing the rates is that you can be sure you are paying a consistent price and not being subject to «adjustments» based on how you’re dressed or the car you drive(it’s happened.). It’s a shame that the overabundance of braiding salons in Oakland has resulted in a total lack of professionalism in some of them. I can take my money elsewhere and they all know it and don’t seem to care. An honest shop will post their rates… hopefully I’ll find a shop like that.

I will be calling for an appointment soon after a few years of getting my hair braided. I don’t get my hair braided very often but when I did in the past I was never happy with my service. That was until I found Diouma’s Senegales Hair Braiding Salon. I was sent there by a friend and I go back every time I need my hair braided. They always do a neat and very good job on my braids. I have gotten micros and kinky twists done here and I have liked every style. I’ve received many compliments and I have also referred people here and they too have been pleased. As a professional woman, I want to go to establishments that exude professionalism. In the past, I have not gotten that from other braiders. They have been late, lied about prices, the braids were sloppy, etc. But, at Diouma’s, I’ve never had to worry about people not showing up or different pricing once I show up for my appointment. I LIKEDIOUMA’S!!!

This was my #1 hair salon whenever I wanted to get the kinky twists. They are also very good with cornrows and single braids. Awa and Goni are two of the best braiders that I have ever had. Don’t go there for a hair weave though unless you want to walk out looking like Olivia Brown when she was on Miami Vice back in the 80s. Plus all they do is weave in the hair for 200+ dollars but they don’t style it for you. Update: 1÷17÷08. I found out that the ladies at the salon just saw my review and are mad at me. So now I gotta find another salon since I won’t change my posting. That’s cool. I stand behind my opinion.
