This café is downstairs from my work, and I think a lot of people from the building and nearby businesses go to it for lunch. The service here is fantastic, and they have a wide selection of items, including lunch sandwiches. The Mediterranean items are fantastic… Their baked goods are great, too.
Also a good stop for a quick coffee, tea, or drink.

The ultimate mom and pop shop. The owner knows almost everyone by name, and will even do IOUs when you don’t have cash on you. Whenever I walk into this building, I can smell either bacon frying or cookies baking. Their lunch menu changes daily, and it’s the closest to home cooking that I’ve had in a long time. And if you work in Oakland — its a great place to call to cater an informal lunch.
