My freezer stopped freezing quickly several months back and it lasted for so long I began to think that I could live with it taking three days to make those giant ice cubes for the afternoon relaxation and that it didn’t make the little ones anymore in its machine was cool so to speak because if I only busted into one of those big cubes a day the pace was adequate and I had the ice I needed.
But one day I wanted to use two.
The back of the freezer was covered in a rime of snow that grew each day and sigh I know this isn’t good I may as well get a new fridge because a service call will be money down the drain and won’t do anything anyway so a-​shopping I went. And damn. Refrigerators can be as expensive as new cars and all I really need one for is ice and once in a while price exceeds sloth for me and I checked with a buddy and again here and holy cow.
He answered the phone and almost was able to come out the same day even though I wasn’t looking for this. Next day. Two-​hour window and arrives as he promised. He had what I needed partially because I am a good explainer of conditions but likely more because this man knows what he’s going.
45 minutes and $ 250 clams later and the frozen maker is as good as new.
I cannot over-​emphasize. Save this number. This is a simple thing in life. I hope you don’t have to give him a try but if you do you will be happy. Cheers.

Gary knows his stuff, but I was upset that he raised his rate when he came to the house. He just upped the price once he saw the house. Plus, he just addressed the surface issue, and did not bother to find out why the issue was occurring. That way he came back two more times before I wised up and called someone else.

Almost 3 years later I have a problem with my ice-​maker. It’s making weird noises and isn’t producing ice. I go on-​line to trouble shoot, and even learn how to possibly jump-​start the ice maker, but indications are that the ice maker is dead. I called Gary around 2pm and he called me back and asked if coming by before 4:30pm would work. He removes the ice maker (which is NOT an easy task), runs it under some hot water and re-​installs it. The ice maker goes through the motions of filling with water and the dial rotates as it’s supposed to. Gary says it MIGHT be all it needs, but if it kinks up soon thereafter, it might mean I need a new ice maker ($ 250 includes the trip charge). I think it’s worth the risk to just pay for today’s trip charge ($ 55) and hope for the best! So far so good, and I thank Gary for his FAST FAST professional service.

As others have noted before me, Gary is awesome. He is fair, quick and very knowledgeable. We have a GE fridge that’s about 12 years old that wasn’t working. (We just moved and the fridge came with the place.) We found Gary on Unilocal,and he had an open window of time and came within the hour. He was able to replace parts and fix the whole fridge in under 30 minutes. He is honest and efficient, and straightforward about the pricing.

I have an old refrigerator that worked well for us since we purchased our home 12 years ago without any issue. That is until a few months ago, when water started collecting at the bottom of the refrigeration which meant I had to keep cleaning the water up sine we couldn’t afford a new refrigerator. My cleaning up the water probably wasn’t the best solution but we had to do what we had to do until we decided when we were able to purchase a new one or get it repaired. Then, one night the most disturbing burning smell started to come from the refrigerator so I unplugged it and hoped that it would resolve the water issue and the. That smell.
Unfortunately, the smell didn’t go away. So, seeing the stellar reviewed, I called Gary and he was pleasant and very fair. He even looked at the issue with the the wat which he thought would have resolved itself sine it was unplugged for a couple of days.
The burning smell disappeared but unfortunately, the water collecting at the bottom did not. Gary came right back to resolve the issue for me without any extra charge which was greatly appreciated.

Gary was great! I couldn’t believe I could get someone to come out within a couple of hours on a Saturday. He’s service fee is very reasonable, but on top of fixing my refrigerator problem (it had a fan issue and was making noise) after some 7 – 8 years of having my door dispenser not working he fixed that as well. He was very honest and even looked at another refrigerator I had. Gave me a simple solution to resolve the issue. I couldn’t have been more happy with his service. Our freezer had been leaking water for awhile. The service company that was supposed to honor the warranty had said that we needed to empty the whole thing (refrigerator and freezer) and unplug it for two days before they could fix it. Sounded to me like we’d have to rent another appliance for a few days, or try keeping our food in coolers. The whole thing seemed complicated so we put up with the leaking. Finally I decided to get someone else’s advice and called Gary. He came over on the same day with the part we needed, took less than an hour to get it fixed, and charged us a very reasonable amount — less than I expected. No need for a rental appliance or days with our stuff in coolers. Thank you Gary!

My GE Profile fridge started acting up and after a few days I finally came to terms that it was no longer offering any form of cooling at all. My landlord gave me Gary’s number and I called on a Saturday morning. Within 2 hours he was at my place, diagnosed the issue (faulty starter I think), and had the replacement part down in his truck. 10 minutes later he was finished and my fridge was back up and running. Very friendly and honest — could not have asked for better service and fair price.

In the evening I noticed my 11 year old Amana refrigerator and freezer each weren’t cooling/​freezing, and checked the temperature control knobs and they hadn’t been changed. The next morning at 8:00 AM I called General Refrigeration Service and Gary answered and said he could be at my house right away. He showed up at 8:45, diagnosed the problem quickly, and fixed it quickly with parts he had in his truck. I think he was in my house for a total of 20 minutes. What more could I want from his service?

Even though this was a problem he could not repair he came over right away on a Saturday morning, gave us honest advice about our warranty and just generally restored my faith in human kindness. What a great experience. Thank you.

My 10 year old Kenmore refrigerator was having some issues with the freezer. I called Gary and we was able to see me the exact same day I called — on a Saturday no less!
He was SUPER knowledgeable and very honest. Based on what others had told me when I described the problem I was bracing to pay a lot of money in equipment/​service to fix it. But instead Gary told me an easy DIY solution that didn’t cost an a penny more than his house call. (his rates are very affordable.
He can work on almost ANY brand of refrigerator. Wish all appliance repair people were like Gary

Called on a Friday afternoon when my refrigerator crapped out on me and overheated to 88 degrees inside. Gary was able to stop in Saturday morning. He quickly explained what the probably causes were, the most likely culprit being that there was a faulty switch causing the lights not to turn off when the door closed. Thankfully he had the part and was able to swap it out. Quick visit, easy fix, friendly service — and a reasonable cost for the part and service that was far better than buying a new refrigerator.

Gary is super nice and he is considerate for you wallet as well! Really professional and quick. If your fridge is leaking or broke down give him a call! I had him fixed three of my fridges already! Don’t hesitate and call him if your fridge is ruining your day!

His other reviews say it all but I’ll reiterate. Called Gary last night, got a call back at 8am this morning. Gary was over in 5 minutes after I called him back. He diagnosed the issue, got to work, and fixed the fridge. He’s fast, friendly, and efficient. Highly recommend working with him!

Last week, we called Gary and explained that our refrigerator froze everything and then proceeded to be unable to go above 50 degrees (too warm). He said he could be over to our house in a few hours or we could try something on our own. We went with his advice, to unplug, empty, and «dry out» our unit for 24 hours. We called the next morning with our fridge working great. It hasn’t failed us yet and it’s been a week.
Gary is simply a nice guy who knows refrigerators and is not just out to make a buck. He’s first on our list to call for the next needed repair.

I called Gary to come fix a leak in our KitchenAid fridge from 2012. We saw in reviews that he had fixed a similar leak. He came the same day and was upfront about rates including parts and service, which were very reasonable.
He was super friendly, gave us advice, and was efficient and professional. He seemed very trustworthy and was able to repair our fridge in half an hour.

Our 2.3 year old Kenmore refrigerator gradually opted to join in on global warming a few days ago. Gary diagnosed it as a defective evaporator motor. He pulled out the old one, which looked like a toy engine, and put in a better one.
I tried to see if there was some warranty on my quite new frig, and there wasn’t. Then Sears said they could have someone there by Tuesday. It was Thursday night. I said «no,» and am so glad to have found Gary at General Refrigeration Service. He came out within an hour of my call.
