Don’t ever attend a hearing in Alameda without a lawyer if custody is an issue. If you want to be treated fair, you gotta pony up for a lawyer who cares for the well-​being of your child and is not going to buy either your exes or your BS. I’ve had one of the most unnecessarily contentious custody cases that has now spanned more than 4 years… I have gone to mediation, I have gone unrepresented, I’ve worked with my exes attorney… this year I reached a HUGE snag in my custody…
It became very clear to me the day before I went to court that if I didn’t hire someone that day, I ran a very high likelihood of losing major time with my kids. I had been served new papers two days prior to court, and had been absolutely railroaded by false allegations in my prior hearing… nevermind a whole bevy of oddities that seemed to be occurring throughout the year within the context of my custody that was making it very clear that I was in deep trouble. Hannah had represented me 4 years ago for my very first trial (she was standing in for my attorney who was at another hearing) and set out a very good custody agreement that was essentially the model that I had been following for the last 4 years. I called her at 9 am and said, «look I have to be in court tomorrow at 9am, I can’t do it alone… what do you think, can you take me?» I was in her office by noon, she had already reviewed the overview of my case, and told me what she thought was possible.
Fast forward 24 hours, my whole case is basically going to h*&$…Hannah kept her cool while I kept losing my s@#%, my ex wouldn’t agree to anything… and then she managed to read the situation well enough to shut it all down! The biggest nightmare of my life was over.
She’s a very quick study, she really tries to keep you from falling apart by throwing some quick banter your way the way your girlfriends do, she doesn’t indulge all your noise, but she does listen to what you have to say… she knows her judges well, as well as her mediators, her instincts are very sharp… she definitely roars like a lion if need be, but she’s also able to demure herself when the judge or situation requires that. I feel incredibly lucky to have had her help in my custody struggles and TWICE she has come through for me at the last possible moment.
Family law is no joke, it can be a real Kangaroo court that doesn’t always rule soley on the legalities of your case… you have to be very careful who you chose to represent your family. I can’t imagine that many attorneys could have done what she just did for my life last week… and that is absolutely priceless… thanks so much, Hannah Simms, you are a rock star!

Hannah is exponentially better than advertised. Hannah gets a 10! She has surpassed 5 and moved into the stratosphere. I came in distressed and out of sorts. I was listened to and I was heard. Hannah was recommended to me by a friend at a time of great crisis.
