History

Established in 2006.

Established in 2006.

Daniel Neumayer conceived of the Harmony Center in the summer of 2005, when he felt called to create a spiritual community based on what he had learned from his own lifelong spiritual journey. In January of 2006 Daniel – a former educator, corporate middle manager and computer software entrepreneur, programmer and consultant–

led the first Harmony Center Sunday celebration, which he continues to conduct every Sunday.

As the Harmony Center approaches its fourth anniversary in January of 2010, it has grown to a program with a core group of regular participants and many visitors to its four regular programs – the weekly celebrations, a health circle, a community circle in which people talk about the major issues of their lives, and a movie night where people enjoy a meal, a thought provoking and entertaining contemporary film, and lively group conversation after the movie. All programs are free and open to anyone who wishes to attend. Donations appreciated but not

Daniel N.

Business Owner

From an East Coast Methodist in his youth, to a spiritual yet not formally reiigious Californian today, Daniel Neumayer’s journey of the spirit has taken him down a many-layered path.

«By the time I was 12, I was no longer comfortable with what I was being taught in Sunday school about an all-powerful and distant patriarchal God,» recalls Daniel.

For several decades as Daniel had successful serial careers as a teacher, middle manager and software consultant and entrepreneur, he continued to seek spiritual growth. In 2005, he felt called to start and lead a community based on what he’d learned through his years of exploration.

Daniel enthusiastically began planning the Harmony Center for the Joyful Spirit just five months after his epiphany, and held the Center’s first Sunday celebration in January of 2006.

«Our community is a place to discover, develop and enjoy the beauty within ourselves and others, and to build a caring community,» says Daniel. «All are welcome.»
