This dental office is so unprofessional. I booked my appointment four months ago and today was finally my appointment time. I went to their office half an hour early to fill out paperworks. My appointment was at 1:00 but at 1:45, I was still waiting. The dentist asked the people who had a later appointment time than me to go first (just because they paid cash and I have insurance). I went to the front desk and asked about the wait time because I am on my lunch break. The dentist got mad and yelled, «when I go to doctor, I have to wait one hour the least, why you have to push me». I asked why he lets other people go first, he said, «because they paid cash and what do you pay? Less than 10% of my client use insurance». Then I said I have to leave now and if I can take my paperwork back (my social security number/​ID/​insurance card all in there). He replied, «no, I won’t give it to you and if you leave now I will still claim your insurance, so you won’t be able to go to another dentist until after one year». I just left and I am planning to make a complaint to my insurance about what just happened. Also, my friend said that he went to the same place and he was charged over $ 1000 to insurance for X-​ray and cleaning, and did a really bad job.

If you guys want to wait months for an appointment and then get rejected then sure come here and get treated like a worthless person. He dehumanize others with no respect and yell at patients, something that’s normal for a dentist? He is also greedy that I saw him with my own eyes, accepted to see patient first because they paid him cash. He pushed off people that again, booked appointment, waited months, and then have to wait hours in the office because he is greedy. Do you really want to see a dentist that only cares about money than people’s feelings and most importantly, respect? As a professional I expect him to act professional too. Sure you can fix teeth but can you fix a bad attitude and a discriminatory mind? I am so disappointed at this place and I will never ever come back again.

He is the worst dentist I have ever seen! Don’t spend a penny there! You will regret your whole life!

My family and I have been coming to Dr. Harold Fung’s dental office for over 10 years. I have seen a handful of dentists before seeing Dr. Fung and there is a reason why I stay with him, he is the best dentist in the bay area and has the biggest heart for his patients. He tells you what you need and doesn’t go in circle to waste your time.
Also, my grandmother has her denture done at Dr. Fung about 15 years ago and she still has no complaints!

I have been to this dentist for 22 years. Basically since I’ve had teeth. I’ve also referred countless patients there. Dr. Fung is as good as it gets for a dentist.
Oh, he also use to have a Nintendo in the back. I wonder if that’s still there…

Dr. Fung has been our family dentist for as long as I can remember, probably about 15 years. Thankfully we haven’t had any major dental problems that require serious work. We come here for the typical cleaning, removal of cavity and unneeded teeth, deep cleaning and other minor job.
Other than this, we really don’t have any complaints.
Here’s my observation about his practice:
1) Office is cleaned, modern and quiet
2) Receptionist is always polite and similey
3) Dental equipment (xray) has gone digital. All the dental images are now captured in his laptop.
4) He doesn’t put you to sleep when doing more serious dental work which doesn’t bother us one bit. I am guessing he’s avoiding this because of potential liability issue.
5) They accept Delta Dental and Metlife Ins.

He is morally bankrupt, unethical & greedy. Doing major oral surgery on a cancer patient without consulting with the attending oncologist first. While patient was in the hospital dying, this dentist insisted on making a hospital call to remove a piece of tape left in patients mouth & making follow-​up appts for further care AFTER being told several times that further appointments or tape removal was unnecessary or needed due to the patient’s terminal condition. I would not trust this man to do dental work on a rock.

knowledgeable doctor. polite. honest. and no-​nonsense. will tell you exactly what you need and what you don’t. most important, he is very gentle when working on your teeth! my whole family goes there.

Dr. Harold Fung’s office is located in the Oakland Chinatown. I’ve been going to him for the last three years or more for my dental needs. At the beginning few cavities were found, hehe… and Dr. Fung took care of them for me =) Now, I go there every six months for my cleaning =)
Dr. Fung’s office is decent size, with three dental chairs separated by a wall in between each. Him and assistant (wife, Helen) are very friendly, and the receptionists there always smile.
Dr. Fung is professional and fluent in Cantonese. He always remind me to floss and brush my teeth, and gave me free toothbrush and floss on every visit, hehe… pretty cool =)
