History

Established in 2004.

I never thought I would be the proud owner of a business, let alone a dog walking business! Really, it was an accident, or maybe fate facilitated by my cheerful nature.

Here’s the Story:

While working in a restaurant in downtown Oakland, I made several friends through a walk up window, where daily, folks with their K9 companions would order their coffees and bagels. It was the best job because I met so many wonderful dogs and their owners and to this day fondly remember those moments as the highlight of my day.

On one afternoon, my dear friend exclaimed as she was running late for work, that her dog walker had canceled on her for the day. «What am I going to do?» she pleaded to me. Then she politely asked if I would be willing to walk her dogs once I was done with my shift at the restaurant.

She added, «I’ll PAY you.»

And that was the day Holly’s Hounds was born. It’s six years later now, and I honestly cannot imagine what better job I might be suited for.

When I’m not busy quilting, painting, playing music, riding my bike etc, I love spending time with my dogs. Rarely does a day pass when we don’t go for a big ol’ hike.

Being the owner of a dog walking business not only allows for me to have my own two dogs, but also provides me with the freedom to pursue my other passions.
