Description

Specialties

I teach Jazz Theory, Improvisation, and Musicianship for all instruments and levels. I have been teaching classes and private lessons for 40 years. I have developed a powerful method that quickly gets beginning students into the big picture fast, and helps more advanced students focus on powerful techniques to develop crucial skills.

History

Established in 1978.

I began classes at the old Keystone Korner in S.F. I have been teaching at colleges and privately since then. I taught at Berklee College in Mass., San Francisco State and was director of jazz studies at Hayward State.

I authored a complete text and practice method called The Jazzmaster Cookbook (featuring the Jazzmaster Workout practice method) in the 80’s.

I have been teaching classes, workshops and private individuals ever since. All types of students and instruments. Focusing on ear, concept and chops.

I also am a practicing jazz musician and own a music contracting service for all types of bands
