It’s not my favorite coffee in the world, but it’s just a buck if you bring your own cup.

There is no better way to start any day by than with a large cup of steaming hot positive energy from these wonderful ladies. In days of mega coffee franchise, it is refreshing to find a local charming spot where they know your name after the first day and you can hang out get coffee just the way you like it and swap a joke or two. The banana bread is jaw dropping. If you found this place by accident as I did… you got real lucky.

R.I.P. Jolie’s – NOWCLOSED. I discovered Jolie’s while biking to work in downtown Oakland from Alameda. There were all these people standing around having coffee near the entrance to the Embarcadero Cove Marina area in front of Quinn’s Lighthouse Restaurant. The whole scene looked so charming, I had to try it. When I did, it was just as cool as I thought it would be – business folks, Coast Guard people, bikers, bums, and an emotionally needy cat named Mambo — all enjoying fresh air, good coffee, free donut holes, conversation and newspapers. When I decided it was unwise to bicycle into downtown Oakland during the commute, I chucked the bike but kept Jolie’s. It’s a great way to start the day. GOODNEWS: Jolie now stocks Sweet-N-Low for those of us that insist on a few carcinogens in our coffee! «Sweet-N-Low – Wherever You Go!»

I love gossiping with Jolies mother. Shes a hoot! Shes open usually till three. The Banana bread is killer. Shes mastered the art of the espresso machine, but I’m happy with just coffee or tea. I give them 5 stars cuz I can! hee hee…

I roll by here on my scrapper bike on my way to work in Oakland. She started making sugar free banana bread for the diabetics, but I secretly slipped Jolie a Benjamin to help me shed some lbs. Sometimes I spill my soy cappuccino on my shirt so I can get high later in the day. My co-workers thing I’m sloppy, but I just think I’m clever.

Good coffee, good chat, always a smiling face(s) and DONUTS! Support the locals, everytime you spend $ 3 at YOUKNOWWHEREUCKS it goes into the vault in Seattle(tax free I might ad — via a dummy corp in Delaware, it’s called the«K-Mart Loophole» look it up). Spend $ 3 at Jolies and support a local family business.

I work right across the street from Quinn’s and Jolie’s at 2000 Embarcadero. There are some dedicated people who LOVE to go across the street and chat with the nice ladies at Jolie’s but their coffee is not good. If it was, I would also be dedicated but sadly… no. I did attend a reception there once in the small gift shop maybe about 5 years or so ago and that was fun.
