Joyce Gordon Gallery is a commercial fine art gallery located in the downtown district of Oakland California. It exhibits art that reflects the social and cultural diversity of the Bay Area and international artists. The aim of the gallery is to respect the creative pursuits of the individual and seeks to make such work accessible to a broad audience.

History

Established in 2003.

Joyce Gordon Gallery offers an experience to the public through the arts community building the bay area’s cultural renaissance. Centrally located in downtown Oakland near the 12 St. Bart Station the gallery is easily accessible to visit from all over the Bay. The gallery offers you some of the finest art produced by local, national and others artists from around the globe. Happened to stop in here whilst waiting for Analog to open. I can’t say I’m a huge fan of art galleries, but I do pop into them from time to time. I only perused the top floor briefly, but some great examples of local artists and local subjects, including downtown SF.
Most interesting of all is the textile artwork, by Joyce Gordon; I don’t know that I’ve see much contemporary that’s like this. I didn’t peer too closely at the prices; they probably would have scared me.
Worth a look in though, if you’re passing by.

I visited this gallery during a large event as part of a class project. Everyone including Joyce Gordon was so nice. The place itself has a very cool atmosphere, capturing a chic Oakland vibe.

The Joyce Gordon Gallery remains a fixture of the downtown Oakland art community after almost ten years. Gordon has worked with vibrant artists such as Miton Bowens, Malik Seneferu, Dimereng X, Lisa Jean DeSoto, and Maggie Yee to name a few. I encourage all art lovers to visit the Joyce Gordon Gallery.

Joyce Gordon is truly passionate about art and community in Downtown Oakland.
My stepdad and my sister have both purchased beautiful pieces of art from Joyce Gordon Gallery and were thrilled with the high level of care and competency by everyone at the gallery.
Our café and gallery, Awaken Café, is just a couple of doors down and since we opened we have enjoyed Joyce’s support, friendship and collaboration and look forward to many more years of creating a fun and inviting art community Downtown.
