La Tania Baile Flamenco offers Flamenco Dance Instruction and Performances. Our Mission as a dance school is to educate our students in learning the flamenco in it’s most traditional form, this way creating a strong foundation for their development. La Tania is a master teacher and dancer who is at the director of the school. She began learning flamenco at a very early age in Spain where she spent 25 years and where she became a professional dancer. After touring internationally with companies from Spain as well as her own she has settled in the Bay Area to share the Art of Flamenco. La Tania continues to perform with her troupe and teaches in San Francisco CA at City Dance Studio as well as private instruction in Oakland CA.

History

Established in 2006.

In 1993 La Tania arrived to California from Madrid and founded La Tania Flamenco Music & Dance Company. The Mission of this company was to create collaborations with artists from Spain and tour new works every year. The company performed Internationally and received many awards such as the Guggenheim Fellowship, The Natioanl Endowment For The Arts Fellowship, The Irvine Fellowship in Dance and many more. After touring many years La Tania dissolved the company and decided to settle in the Bay Area.

In 2006, La Tania, Artistic Director/​Choreographer/​Instructor/​Dancer moved to the Bay Area to establish her Company and Dance School La Tania Baile Flamenco. Since then she has presented many performances and many student showcases.

Business Owner

La Tania is a world renowned performer and master teacher. She grew up in «Andalucía», southern Spain, in the heart of the flamenco culture where she began to learn this art form at a very young age. By the age of 17 she was performing professionally. She made Madrid her base and performed in many «Tablaos» as a featured dancer such as «Corral de la Morería», «Zambra» and toured internationally with many companies including Mario Maya, Paco Pea etc. She began her own company in 1991 and performed in the US for the first time in 1993. Since then she has toured with her company Nationally and Internationally winning many awards such as the Guggenheim Fellowship, the California Arts Council Fellowship, the National Endowments for the Arts Fellowship, the James Irvine Fellowship in Dance and the Isadora Duncan Dance Award for Artistic Excellence in the category of Individual Performance. Currently she is based in San Francisco where she teaches and performs regularly.
