Tammy, a clerk here, provided amazing customer sevice I’ll not soon forget.
I needed a small nut to fit on a table my deceased father left me. I’d had the table 25 years. My sons inadvertently removed and lost a nut used to secure the legs. The table did not function without that nut.
Even though the piece cost .33 cents, Tammy took nearly 10 minutes helping me find the metric hardened thread hex nut I needed. I am so grateful to her and Ace for helping fix this family heirloom.
It may 33 cents today but this is my go to store from now on for hardware and I will be doing a lot of business here in the future.

Fifteen years of satisfied shopping here. Helpful, knowledgeable staff. They pack a lot of items into a relatively small space. Very convenient for that missing part or tool in your project. You will likely pay more than in a big box store, but not always. And you will be in and out pretty quickly. Never a problem with returns, but then I keep my receipts. PS – When I first started shopping here, it was a True Value rather than an Ace. It has been the same reliable store under both logos.

Laurel Ace is great place for grabbing that quick home fix. I just moved to the area, and have stopped by so far for a doorbell, bug spray, and other miscellaneous items.
They don’t necessarily have the largest selection, but the staff is friendly and will do their best to help with your problem!
Side note: I am from a smaller town that had its own Ace (big one, garden, rock yard, lumber, housewares, pets, hardware) and it’s nice to be able to use my ace rewsrds account! Set one up if you haven’t already, it’s always a nice surprise when your reward coupons arrive!
Quick edit: Decided to put it to 5 stars, yes small selection, but I think if you know that ahead of time, it shouldn’t be a problem (just call ahead!) and the private lot is very nice, and I think worth those 5 stars.

As a homeowner, I REALLY want to like this Ace considering its proximity. I’ve been here twice. The first time, I had a mild panic attack because the aisles are so narrow. And then someone in line farted and it was the worst smell I think I’ve ever smelt. The second time, I had a mild panic attack just trying to park in their parking lot.
If I can get over those two events that have been burned into my memory, I’ll be back. Otherwise, you’ll see me slummin’ it at Home Depot.

This store is a lifesaver. They have what I need, even the most obscure items. The staff is helpful, creative and knowledgeable. So glad they’re in my neighborhood!

Okay, this store close at 8:00pm. It was 7:50pm. My tenant told me that the bathtub hot water is leaking and can’t shut it off. I was rush to my apartment and trying to get it done ASAP due the the hot water continually running. We are in a serious drought already. Long story short.
I was rushing to the closest hardware store before they close up. Went in and don’t know what I was looking for, never done this before, but I was smart enough the take the old parts with me. I saw this gentlemen and ask what and which to find these parts to fix my leaking faucet? He looks at the parts and was able to figured out what type of parts that I needed. Got it fixed same evening. What a relief I had this evening.

Laurel Ace has parking which is nice. section signs aren’t that informative. aisles too narrow, associates not up to specs about battery. life span.
otherwise, shopping went ok. got what i needed. not sure i got a good deal.

Make sure they give u a receipt. or be 100% sure about your purchase. or just go to an entirely different store if u believe in customer service. My issue is principle, not money.
I needed new screws to replace knobs on a revamped dresser… the existing screws would not fit the new knobs that were purchased. So… I brought in the samples to ask for the right width and length… was given 12 screws at 0.33 cents each and went on my way. I didn’t try to use them until a couple days later, but when I did the screws were too long. So I brought them back to exchange them. The proper screws were 0.27 cents so I literally only needed a 0.72 cent refund. However, because I didn’t have a receipt they said they couldn’t do anything and just told me to buy the other screws. I then asked if they could just keep the difference and the screws for a straight exchange, but again was just told to buy the other screws.
It’s only $ 3 — $ 4 but I chose to spend it elsewhere for the replacement screws.
Side note: when I walked in there was a lady yelling about not being given a receipt and being denied a return as well. It looked like a larger purchase, but after my experience I’m inclined to believe she wasn’t given a receipt either… and sadly got ripped off for much more money.

Horrible experience with management. Called to complain to David, who apparently owns the store, and he couldn’t have been less interested in resolving the matter.

I’m concerned that this hardware store is lately getting bad reviews. I just bought a house and it needs a lot of work and I like doing project so I go to this store a lot. I’ve always had very positive experiences. The worst experience I’ve ever had is waiting more than 5 minutes to make keys.
Two of the negative reviews written in the last six months are people who did not keep their receipt and then they wanted a refund. Most retail places will not take items without a receipt! Those are the rules at 99% of all stores!
If you go in with a question, they help you immediately. Finding things can be hard because they have SO MANY SHELVES and SO MUCH ON THE SHELVES.
The prices are occasionally a LITTLE bit higher than some of the local Big Box Stores, but supporting local businesses and tiny neighborhood hardware stores is very important!

First time I ever felt the urge to right a review. So much so that I just downloaded the Unilocal app. Well basically I find the laurel ace hardware store a horrible business establishment. Basically based on their return policy and customer service surrounding this issue. To be honest every one I saw, who had a favorable review of this place. Are very light complexioned, as are the majority of the staff… I’m just saying! Because me being a very «dark» complexioned male. I was treated anything but courteous. When I lost my receipt to a $ 125 roll of hardware cloth.
So a client had bought their own cloth — from home depot, for much less I must say. I wanted to return the unused roll I purchased hours earlier, with debit!!! But in my rush to job site lost receipt. They were quite literally like: «No receipt no return, sorry, unh-​uh, cain’t do nuthin fa you man!». So I went out into the parking lot to search for receipt. Where I began to get surveilled by staff, Stop and Frisk-​style. After many minutes of combing the lot… found receipt!
It was heavily scrutinized, NOW they wanted to see my debit card =)
To end, In my opinion they have bad business practices and racist inclinations. Since one of my daily priorities must be to TRY to avoid racist interactions wherever possible. I will likely not patronize this establishment again. Peace

Very helpful sales folks here. Needed a replacement valve stem for the shower and the salesperson had extensive knowledge about plumbing and how to fix.

I’ve spent hundreds of dollars at this store but today was unfortunately the last time I’ll shop there
I purchased a pack of 2 lightbulbs a couple of days ago and one of them wasn’t working. I brought it back along with my receipt but the store manager wouldn’t exchange the bulb. Said that I needed to bring back the entire package so they could resell it. (Really? With a broken bulb?). I explained that going back home to get the other one would cost me as much in gas as buying a whole new pack. All I wanted was a working bulb.
It became clear that they didn’t want to help and I got tired of arguing and left with the broken merchandise. Life is too short.

I feel a bit better reading that other customers had negative experiences here, because I thought it was just me.
After having my registration sticker stolen off my vehicle while I was back East, I came here to get new screws for my plate. Unfortunately, they did not work so I marched back in 5 minutes after purchasing for my $ 1.42 refund. Because I didn’t take my receipt when I originally left the store, they said I couldn’t get a refund. What?! The cashier was quite rude and said that the receipts are thrown away. Okay then, let me get it out of the garbage for you. She then walked away talking smack and had a manager come to the front. He wasn’t any better in the area of customer service. He basically argued with me about not taking my receipt, pointed to their return policy, and said that I was using up their manpower by having them look for the receipt. For real?! You’re at work, so work!
After going back and forth with me about how I, obviously, am not a good customer, he pieced together my receipt that was missing a small portion in the bottom corner and had a different cashier give me my $ 1.42. Damn. I just wanted to fix my license plate.

Generally a good store, customer service is usually good. And its local.
But, they do have a tendency to cop an attitude if you’ve got a problem with something you’ve bought, or if its late in the day.

This is another update … also in response to Marie E’s uninformed remarks, and in support of Maya’s experience at Ace Laurel. Marie, your comments point out how woefully out of touch you are about the issues of racial profiling. 1) Being white, your experience (with a HIGH degree of probability), would show up quite differently than it would for a «person of color» 2) That you weren’t even there to witness any of the incidences that others have experienced — calls into question the validity of your knowledge toward’s the apparent universality of the Ace Laurel positive customer experience … and 3) that you have the audacity to use your husband’s race to negate our negative and painful experience at Ace Laurel — shows how out of touch you really are!
Our separate but shared experiences at Ace Laurel, cannot and should not be invalidated by your ignorance of the situation. I have followed up with my complaint about this experience by contacting Ace Corporate — It has been 8 days, and I have yet to hear back from the store owner. While it is my understanding that Ace Corporate is not responsible for the independent store owner’s behavior, it is still important to have the issue addressed in some fashion.
If others have also experienced similar situations (whether or not you’ve posted on Unilocal), please take the time to write to corporate and link your response to whatever social media that you enlist,
and btw Marie E. I have shopped at Ace Laurel for over 10 years … and (sooo!) … what does that matter??? … racial profiling is not acceptable … no matter where you live!

Thank you to Ms. Marie for the observation that the staff at Ace Hardware is «multi-​racial». You were not there the day I visited, and did not experience what I did on that day. Furthermore, while your husband may be black, that does not ensure that you have endured the experiences of people of color. Lastly, don’t try to make me out to be a nonexistent patron, as I DID in fact shop there up until this incident occurred. Thank you.

Referred from the other store & they indeed had all the other supplies we needed, what was similar was the customer service! Gentleman assisted my boss was courteous & efficient. He went the extra mild & let us know he would cut to length if needed!
We recommend this location as well.

This location is super close to our house so when I’ve forgotten something at Home Depot, we come here. Usually it means that the hubby is still working on a project and I’m sent here for the special nails, screws or other hardware. The staff here is very very nice and they all seem to know their stuff!
We’ve also ordered online and had items delivered direct to store which worked out great!
The store isn’t big, but they seem to have a little bit of everything … I’ve gotten shower curtain rods, to seedlings, to soil, to those specially sized nails we need for the nail gun. Very convenient to have this place so close to home!
