I’m a great fan of this barber shop. Simple hair cuts for the very reasonable price of $ 15. That’s the good news. Unfortunately their rent was raised again and they’ve decided to move to a new location (The Hair Cellar (510) 531‑9700, UPEC bld. suite 21, Chumalia St. between East 14th & Hyde in San Leandro)) starting Aug 16, 2015. I’ll be sorry to see them go. Arny & Greg were excellent barbers with years of cutting experience between them.

Today’s haircut at this shop deserves a flat NO STARS. I’ve been here before and gotten a reasonably decent haircut for the $ 15 charge; Arnie’s always cut my hair. Today he directed me to a barber that I’d never seen there before, and I made sure he knew before we started: a #1 on the back and sides, a #2 on the top, and no line between them, it needs to blend. He never pointed me toward the mirror while he was cutting, so that should have been a sign — I ended up with a solid, visible line between my side and top. I asked him to fix it, and it got worse. I called over Arnie to assist, he spent another 5 minutes on me, and still it wasn’t fixed. Plus they both left random long hairs on the top of my head. It was an incredibly bad job, and I will never go to this shop again. They need to close this place down, fifty years is obviously showing they they need to be out of buisness.

Arnie is the man. He will take an appointment and keep it. He makes you feel like he has been waiting all day to see you even though you know he’s helped 10 — 20 other guys. Plus he has good taste in TV shows and sports teams.

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Greg since 1990… or so.
Yes, it is mostly a guy’s place, but not unfriendly. Arnie cuts well too, as I learned when Greg was out for a while.
TV is always on… and LOUD. Sports of the day.
Great value. Good cuts.
