Myth Golf and Banquets

Worst path ever. You take your life in your hands. I call it a homemade roller coaster. Not only is the path with the boardwalk in horrible shape but there are trees cut all along next to the path with sharp branches left over that are pointed up. I can only imagine somebody flying out of their cart and becoming impaled. Nice golf course though.

Love this track! Great little course away from the hustle of some of the busier places a few miles south. First time was by accident when we tried to go to Bald Mountain after work. There was a one hour wait there. The Myth was wide open and only a few miles away. We’ve been back several times now.

This incident actually took place in June 2011, and it was frustrating enough that my (now) husband and I still tell every person we can who is recently engaged.
My father suggested this location. For my father to suggest anything wedding was crazy. So, clearly, we needed to check it out.
We had our initial meeting with Laura, their «wedding planner». The room wasn’t that clean and looked a bit out dated. I was trying to picture where everything would go or how it would look, and asked for her assistance in picturing that. She walked away rudely like she had something more important to do. So we walked around for a bit discussing everything.
She took our on a tour of the grounds, via golf cart, but insisted the 3 of us ride in one while she rode ahead of us stopping periodically to explain a place or two where she would have the photographer go to take photos.
My husband and I wanted to discuss it, especially because it was something my dad wanted to take care of for us, so we agreed that we would follow up with her within a couple of business days. This was not really to her liking, but we shrugged it off.
Two days later, we decided we would like to reserve our date (was ⁰⁸⁄₂₀₁₂). When in Laura’s office, I spotted our paperwork which said «came with daddy $$» on it. I should have ran right there, but I didn’t. She gladly accepted the $ 1,200 check though.
Fast forward a month or two. My husband and I hit some bumps in the road regarding our wedding. So, we needed to cancel or reschedule one year later. Well, canceling we would lose our deposit or to reschedule, it would be ANOTHER $ 1,000!!! Seriously? I understand their cancellation policy, but taking) $ 1,200 when she did nothing at all over a year in advance, that’s poor business practice. Had it of been weeks before the wedding, sure. To move the date back a year, $ 1k … Clearly she was dropped on her head.
So, in the end, we were out $ 1,200 towards our wedding, and have a terrible experience to tell our entire group of friends and family. In the end though, they have lost out on quite a bit of money seeing how my father is a «regular» on the course and will not return to The Myth (which is really appropriate after reading such positive words in The Knot), nor will he golf on any league that goes there.
In conclusion, if you’re thinking about getting married here, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND/​OR MONEY!!! Well, unless you like unfriendly staff and being treated like garbage. Read the other reviews too. You’ll know we are not alone.

I have golfed at Myth several times and I’ve never been impressed but never disappointed either. I’ve golfed at many places and I’ve seen places maintained better than this. Every time I go to tee off, the ground is all chopped up as if no golfer or staff has respect for the course. When using the bridges they have for the carts, you feel like you’re on a cheap and old roller coaster. Some areas of the bridge look like they’re ready to fall apart and have big cracks or bumps, so it may never make you feel comfortable.
The nice thing about the course is how inexpensive it is. My friends and I never have any trouble reserving a time to tee off and the staff seem friendly; we’ve never had any trouble with the staff. We always grab a dog or burger before the back-​9 and the deals aren’t horrible if you’re looking to grab a snack. Some of the holes do bring a challenge and I can see how great this place could look if it was maintained better.
This wouldn’t be my #1 choice but if you’re looking for an inexpensive place to go or playing with someone who’s still new to the game, Myth isn’t a horrible place to consider. Myth is only a place for me to consider when it comes to price and the convenience of its location.

My husband and I got married at the Myth this past September. While the hall and property were very beautiful, the customer service we received was unacceptable.
The hall coordinator, Laura, who called herself my «wedding planner,» was easy to reach in the months leading up to the wedding. On the day, though, she couldn’t be reached when one of my bridesmaids had questions and concerns for her regarding our tables (all of the plates that were set at the tables were DIRTY.).
Later, when she actually was around, I felt rushed through my photos. I think this was an effort to get us to move to a different, more recognizable area of the golf course so we would have pictures that she could use in her promotional materials.
After dinner, she completely disappeared all together when I was relying on her to walk me through the evening. I’ve never been married before – I don’t know what order the events go in after dinner: cake cutting, dances with mom and dad, bouquet toss, etc. Thank goodness for my friend and photographer, who has photographed tons of weddings – he was able to jump in and help guide me through my night.
I heard many complaints that my guests food and drink were taken away too quickly – no one was asked ‘are you finished?’ Their half eaten dinners and half consumed beverages were swept away before they even had a chance to protest.
The wait staff was also very rude to my guests. In one instance I witnessed this for myself, when a blonde, female server swore at my friend’s boyfriend for standing in front of the kitchen door, and then shoved past him. He probably shouldn’t have been standing there, but ‘excuse me’ would have been a more appropriate response.
One of my guests attempted to gain attention of a server, who, he said made eye contact with him. Instead of acknowledging him, she ignored him and walked past him.
No one on site could provide logistical assistance or was even willing to try: Many guests inquired with Myth staff about local ATMs, taxi cab companies or nearby hotels. They just shrugged and advised guests to look to their phones for help.
My father had an issue with his suit (the rental place forgot to give him his pants) and so he was late getting to the ceremony. When he arrived, his boutonnière was not where the groomsmen had left it for him. Someone came behind them, willy-​nilly cleaned up and threw it away without even thinking to ask if it was important. (It was a fresh, expensive flower in a CLEAR plastic box!) I was very upset that, of all people, my dad had to go through the ceremony and photos without his flower pinned to his lapel.
Later, another priceless wedding treasure was thrown away: our piece of wedding cake. My bridesmaids had moved the cake to an area where it was supposed to be safe: the bridal party’s dressing room. I actually watched one of them place it on the counter-​top near my overnight bag. When I came to retrieve it at the end of the night, I found it in the trash.
I perfectly understand that mistakes and accidents happen, but what we experienced on our wedding day constitutes a pattern of disregard and neglect.
«Bonus»: Two days after my wedding, I had to come back to the hall to pick up my champagne flutes that had accidentally been grabbed by the wait staff. When I walked into Laura’s office, she grabbed a clipboard and insisted we «take a walk.» She guided me near the banquet hall and said «So, what were you thinking (for your wedding day)?» It took a second for me to react: «Laura, I got married here on Saturday.» She tried to laugh it off and halfheartedly apologized – she said she thought I was her next appointment! My family had written this woman checks for several thousands of dollars – we also paid extra for premium upgrades: butler’s service and family style dining for 200 people. I was just at the hall the previous day, picking up my centerpieces, and she didn’t recognize me. VERY offensive if you ask me.

If I could give this place a 0 maybe a negative would be better since that is the service you get. I went ahead and put $ 1,000 deposit down. Well comes out it did not work out with the family. So I called and emailed 2 days after wards to see if there was anything they could do. NO NO NO. OK I understand part of the policy you can not refund the money, so I asked if I could use the money towards my wedding shower I was also told NO because they were loosing to much money. Well I am pretty sure I am the only one that lost money here considering I canceled 2 days after and they re booked the date I had set. So fast forward a few months, now my cousin is getting married and was looking to book here. I called again to see if maybe I was booking a wedding (bringing money in for a wedding) if they would let me use my «WEDDING» deposit for a «WEDDING» Once again told NO. The staff «LAURA» is rude, unless she is getting your money then she is all about you. Good LUCK if you have anything to do with this place. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE TERRIBLE JUST TERRIBLE!!!

Went golfing with my sister and friend for a fun day out. It’s a decent course, although I’m not the best nor most frequent golfer I think it’s pretty obvious when courses are good or bad. However, the bridges that connect a lot of the holes are extremely rickety and my party and I were a bit scared driving the carts over them. The help in the pro shop was extremely friendly though and helped us out a lot.
