I highly recommend Dr. Hamid and her staff. My first visit today was much better than most dental visits. They are very concerned about the patient and especially the teeth of course. They had very thoughtful questions and suggestions. They definitely keep the scary feelings of a dental office at bay. You will be very well taken care of by Oakland Green Dental.

When I met Dr. Hamid I legitimately could not understand why she was no kind and excited and jubilant. Are you even the dentist?! Where is your frown and scary tools?! How could you smile before the pain I know is in store?!
This is because I was once a kid who waited in the dental DMV line at Western Dental to have unskilled training dentists extract some of my teeth and do root canals on the state’s dime. I was never spoken to by these monstrous dentists and had no idea about things like, getting a crown to finalize the root canal. So of course, the root canals broke within a few months. These were two molars, top and bottom on one side. I couldn’t chew on this side of my
Mouth for years. I was too terrified to ever go back to a dentist because I feared there was nothing left for them to do but take out all of my teeth, so I lived miserably.
5 years later, I got a job with real dental benefits. and wisdom teeth. The excruciating pain of an infection had me looking to jump off of a rocky cliff, I mean, find my first REAL dentist!
I found Dr. Hamid. After my first visit I understood why she was so nice. Because she just is!!! I can confidently say that she has got to be a top 10 dentist of all in the world (okay, I don’t have a ton of experience to compare her to, but trust me). She and her assistant (who is also top 10 dental assistant in the world, although I forgot her name I like her very much!) are excellent and incredibly efficient at making a dental visit a happy experience, and prioritizing my dental work in a way that helps me get the most important stuff done so I can maximize my insurance etc. I can tell they all care about the patients!
Dr. Hamid has successfully repaired the mistakes made by those other *dentists* (aka Western Dental’s army of Satan), and fixed other things that happened in my mouth during the years of my dental sabbatical. To top it off, she has NEVER hurt me. What more can you ask for?
I was scared, nervous, and embarrassed to go to a dentist with all of these issues in my mouth. Now, I am excited to go to the dentist every time I have an appointment at Oakland Green Dental. :)

OK, THIS should be your Dentist!!! First me, scared to death of dentist. Waited 28 years to see one and then I broke her with so much work she retired (Love U Dr. R.H.). I needed everything done short of braces and I actually need them. So, she refers me to Oakland Green Dental-​OGD, still a lot of work to be done at that time. I hate change, yes I’m an old guy, and to go to a new dentist scared me, again. FEARS removed!!! OGD rocked, they put me at ease, Dr. Hamid took the time to listen to my fears and then GENTLY did the rest of the work needed. The quality of work is superb, as I have the normal bad habits, but the work I’ve had done has stood the test of time, no easy feat. The office is within walking distance to my job and who can go see the dentist and happily walk back to work! Love the staff too, they remember the appointment times I prefer and gear my appointments toward those times, called me back quickly, when I’ve left messages. I am keeping my teeth, with OGD help.

Yes, Yes, Yes, everything yes. First of all, the office was easy to find, nice, clean, and modern. I went in because for the past 10 years I have had a tiny flap of gum over my last wisdom tooth that came in. It has gotten infected maybe 3 times over the past 10 years, and usually I just use hydrogen peroxide and it gets better. This time, it was just still bothering me because it was swollen and I kept chewing it and it just hurt like a bitch.
Every dentist I have been to since I was 18 has tried to convince me to get my wisdom teeth out even though they are perfectly fine (straight, not really any cavities, etc.), probably just to get some $$. However, I don’t take going under anesthesia lightly, or spending a couple g’s on ripping teeth out of my face lightly (no dental insurance), so I never got it done, and I had a feeling in the back of my mind that my wisdom teeth are 100% fine, since my first dentist in high school said they would come in all crooked and mess my mouth up, and another dentist more recently said they would all get infected and cavitied up and essentially rot away in my mouth, and neither of those things happened.
When I went to Dr. Hamid, I was very nervous that she might try to get me to have the wisdom teeth taken out, but I was so ecstatic that she just said, «oh we’ll just laser off this pesky little flap of gum that is catching food particles!» She was also very personable and friendly, and offered me a cost effective (and very reasonable) solution to my minor problem. Her light conversation was the perfect distraction from any discomfort, which was minimal. Even the numbing seemed better than usual — it was very localized and didn’t last too long after the procedure. The procedure itself was quick — it probably took about 10 minutes, and it seriously feels like I have a whole new mouth. I enjoyed my visit so much that I scheduled a cleaning there for next month.

By far the best experience I’ve ever had at a dentist’s office!!! From start to finish, everyone I had contact with was genuinely friendly and respectful. All costs were given to me up front and since I am uninsured for dental I really appreciated not having to ask.
Dr. Shay was AMAZING. I can’t say enough about her. Quick and painless technique, she was honest, and most importantly, DOWN TO EARTH. Instead of making me feel bad about myself like every other dentist does, she treated me like a valued customer and a friend. For the first time in my 40 years of life, I asked to make an appointment for a cleaning at the end of my appointment and happily handed over my debit card knowing the rent will still be there. I’m actually excited to get other work done that I had been putting off. Absolutely thrilled with this place.

By far the best dentist I’ve been to in every regard. They respond by email quickly, which I appreciate since it is generally easier to get ahold of people that way instead of being placed on hold or playing phone tag. Everyone in the office is incredibly attentive, including Dr. Hamid. I almost felt like I was at a spa with their level of service. The office is clean, modern, and has a great view. Their prices are very reasonable — of everyone who got back to me, their pricing for the procedures I needed were the cheapest, plus I believe consultations and x-​rays are free. Unfortunately they do not take my insurance, but I will be back for anything I need that is not covered (which is a lot since I’m on denti-​cal).

I heart these ladies! Dr Hamid and her staff are loving, funny and good at what they do! If you’re looking for a community dentist who knows what she’s doing and also cares about you, this is the place to be!

If you’re looking for an excellent and green friendly dentist Dr. Hamid is the best!!! I love her and her staff so much and I’m so glad I found them! They offer parking validation and she is so kind and gentle you will love her! I absolutely hate going to the dentist but I have no problem keeping my appointments with Dr. Hamid, I feel like I’m going to a spa when I go to see her! She is so friendly and personable and her and her office staff really go above and beyond to accommodate your schedule and needs. She is the best dentist I’ve ever been to!

Not only does Dr. Shaya Hamid practice sustainability but she has an amazing personality, great sense of humor and she’s very professional. I had looked into multiple dentists before I finally picked her. She had impeccable reviews online. Her greatest asset may be that she genuinely cares about her patients, her recommendations for patients are based on what’s best for the patient. I have a sustainability graduate degree, it’s great to have a dentist that mirrors my values and cares about the impact that her practice makes in the world. Dr. Shaya Hamid is the best dentist eva!

When I moved to California 5 years ago I waited too long to find another dentist. I’ll admit it was mostly out of nervousness; fear that I was going to get lectured. When I finally stepped into Oakland Green Dental I realized I had nothing to worry about!
Dr. Hamid and her assistants are not only so welcoming and very informative about how your teeth/​gums are. I’ve now been going there for about 4 years and have had cleanings every 6 months, a whitening treatment, as well as a procedure on one of my wisdom teeth. Everyone is very professional and they are always concerned with all of the little details like putting lip balm on your lips before beginning the procedure.
I now look forward to going to my dental appointments because I know I will have a nice time chatting with the whole staff and walk out with my mouth feeling so clean!

Going to a new dentist is always nerve racking for me. I recently change my job and needed to find a dentist closer to where I worked. On Unilocal oakland green dental received good ratings so I decided to give it a shot.
I’m happy to say it went very well. Dr. Hamid was so professional and gentle. the staff was so friendly and treated me with respect and most importantly, they were on time (i hate waiting).

I was glad to hear about Oakland Green Dental from some colleagues. Dr. Hamid was professional and personable. I went to her to get three wisdom teeth extracted based on the recommendation of a dentist I saw in San Francisco. Needless to say, i wasn’t excited about it.
When I went into Dr. Hamid’s office, she looked at the X-​rays, and my teeth, and said definitively, that yes, one had to come out, but the other two did not need to be removed, and that in fact if we removed one we’d actually have a potential problem with my chewing alignment.
I love that she saved me from pain and an unnecessary procedures, never mind an inflated bill.
To boot, she performed the singular extraction quickly. I only needed pain meds the day of the extraction, not the day after, and it’s ess than 48 hours later, and I’m basically pain free and fully functioning.
Her staff are warm and I’d definitely recommend others to go to her.

My favorite dentist! Glad I was recommended to this green dentist who makes visits relaxed, quick and simple. I had a few cavities filled and I was impressed with how fast they were completed, and I’ve never had any problem with them. I highly recommend Dr. Hamid and her practice! She is funny, considerate, and an amazing dentist! Her office is tidy and her staff are very friendly. She was recommended to me by a so-​worker (neither of us have dental insurance) and I am eternally grateful.
I had a routine cleaning at another dentist’s office and found out I had a cavity. They estimated the procedure at $ 1,345. Needless to say, Dr. Hamid saved me boat loads of money and another trip to the city. She got me in for the filling almost immediately and it was as painless as one could hope.
She is a saint and I recommend her to anyone and everyone who needs a good dentist.

I’m the kind of person that hears the word «dentist» and immediately recieves a mental image of my head being drilled into by some crazy person in a medical mask. I always wait until I absolutely have to go to the dentist to make myself go instead of getting my frequent visits in. Now that I have found Oakland Green Dental my fear of dentists has decreased and I now have MY dentist.
When I called Oakland Green Dental the woman on the phone was very informative, courteous and friendly which wasn’t the same experience I had gotten from the few other dentist offices I had called previously. She explained that they give a free consultation that included X-​Rays which is what really drew me in.
When I arrived for my appointment everything went very smoothly and I was surprised to find that not only were the staff friendy to me but the actual doctor was too. My only other memorable experience with dentists had been at a Western Dental where they treat you like a dental DMV-​getting you in and out without a second glance at you or your problem.
To keep this review short and sweet I have been here since my consultation and had a crown put in. It was the first work I have ever had done on my teeth besides a cleaning back in the day and the experience went as well as I could have imagined. The asked me if I was ok and comfortable throughout the proceedure and offered me magazines and water while I waited during some down time. My teeth feel so much better and I highly reccomend this dentist-​especially if you haven’t been for a while or are a little hesitant.

Dr. Shaya Hamid and her professional staff at Oakland Green Dental have surpassed my high expectations for not only dental care, but also the personal attention and care they show. I’ve been a patient of hers for 2 years, and prior to moving to the area, have always had great dentists. Dr. Hamid, however, literally worked a miracle on my long-​time severe dental anxiety due to negative experiences I had as a kid, and my gum sensitivity. She offers great empathy and gentleness, but coupled with the most cutting-​edge dental care. She provided me with nitrous gas to alleviate my severe anxiety for my visits in the beginning, but over time, as I’ve grown to see her gentle dental care and treatment, I’m now happily anxiety-​free and have no need for the nitrous. She has a personable chair-​side manner, and in the interactions I’ve seen with her staff and colleague, she is courteous and respectful — clearly a Dr. who enjoys her job and genuinely cares about people.
She also treats my young son, and thankfully, he will never have to have the negative experiences I had as a child going to the dentist that led to my dental anxiety in the first place.
She also has suggested treatments that have eradicated long-​term tooth and gum sensitivity, that no other dentist has suggested all these years.
The office is GORGEOUS, clean, and well-​equipped. While well-​designed for its function, it is almost spa-​like in its décor and atmosphere, which is relaxing and welcoming.

I don’t write very many Unilocal’s — cause I want em’ to count, but when you have a superior experience you have got to comment. Dr. Shaya and the team took the best care of me. The best part? The comedy routine that puts a smile on your face even though your mouth is full of acumen tubes.

Fantastic dentistry by Dr. Shaya Hamid. I am a difficult patient with neck/​back troubles, yet always get treated so very well here. The work is excellent (I have been to many, many dentists in my time.) Cleanest teeth ever these days, and painless treatments. Cutting edge technology.
So my four front top incisors have been problematic for decades. I finally trusted Dr. Hamid to replace them. (Another dentist stated she hoped to retire before having to do this task, lol.) We got thru the expected hiccups with NO PAIN — all GAIN for me! All four look beautiful — and guess what? I now smile allowing my teeth to show!
Very knowledgeable, talented hands, personable dentist, as well. Plus, a Green Dentistry, and parking — all good!

I’ve been meaning to write a review for awhile now and since today was my third visit with Dr. Shaya Hamid, I figure it is time… And so, I came across this practice via Groupon last summer. The initial appointment and xrays were painless, professional and fast– which is good at the dentist :)
Dr. Shaya has a thorough, gentle touch and throughout a cleaning asks how you’re doing, making adjustments as needed for comfort. I mentioned my dislike of the ultrasonic cleaning apparatus (torture, to me) and she explained its uses, benefits and I decided to do it every other cleaning, which she totally supported without judgement.
Other perks include the free toothbrush/​paste of your choice upon leaving & the price is right. I’ve paid almost double for a cleaning in the past.
As a healthcare practitioner, I completely appreciate the patient-​centered care, kindness and professionalism. I will certainly be back for the 6 month cleaning…
