Power Up Pilates Studio

I can’t speak to the quality of Selena’s pilate practice but as far as her business is concerned– I would not trust her with money again.
I was gifted a $ 180 certificate (as a Christmas present) to spend on private classes with her. Do to medical reasons she decided to not teach any longer and told me she would give me my (mothers) money back.
I was sent a check for $ 150. I thought it was just a careless mistake and sent an email with the gift certificate information attached.
No response.
Two months later I wrote another email asking for the remaining $ 30.
One month has passed.
No response!
I was waiting and hoping not to have to write a bad review but alas she deserves it.

Power up Pilates studio on Grand Ave is a beautiful, comfortable space where you can expect the highest quality in Pilates instruction and personal care. Selena is a great listener who helps you achieve your fitness goals while increasing your body awareness and confidence.
Pilates has been amazing to help my scoliosis. Each work out is personal and customized to your unique physical needs. Pilates works like no other method, I’m amazed at the ab definition I’ve developed, but most important I’m eternally grateful to have less pain.

Selena is fantastic, and her new studio space on Grand Ave is gorgeous. I was recommended to her by a bodyworker to work on imbalances that were resulting in pain in one side of my hip (that darned psoas) and have continued. I can see a big difference in my posture, I feel MUCH stronger in daily life stuff, and I’ve got less belly wobbling around by FAR.
If I could just carve out 2 hours /​week instead of 1, I know it would accelerate. But regardless — I’m SO happy I found Selena. She checks in constantly to be sure that movements are effective, pushes me just enough, advises on lots of things outside the studio that can help, and is an energizing and caring presence. If you have been thinking about working with a Pilates instructor on the reformer, GO FOR IT. Selena will help you get back on track (if you were ever on track at all) or will guide you into a body awareness that can only help get you moving into a healthier you.
(for the record, I am NO dancer — 5’3″ and waaay too many pounds to admit. My neck is more like a bull’s than a ballerina’s. And yet Selena just takes it all with a grain of salt, prods away to show me what muscles are working, and treats me like I’m some kind of lissome wunderkind.)
She’s the best!

Seriously, if you want to get lean, strong and have fun doing it see Selena. Don’t spend time or money on any other Pilates instructor. Her studio in Berkeley is gorgeous. Selena is professional, experienced, meticulous, and her attention to detail is amazing. She will safely guide you into the world of Pilates. As a Dailey Method devotee I have to say I enjoy my time with her SO much more than the group classes at DM. 4 sessions into our work together and I can SEE changes in my body. Her rates are reasonable, she will work with your schedule and she will inspire you with her fit body and strength. Her knowledge of anatomy is superb and her enthusiasm contagious. She will transform your relationship to your body and you will build a body you never knew you could have.
