Server was very very rude told us if we were not going to eat the sushi from the sushi bar then we shouldn’t sit there. Asked her for water and told us they only service bottled water for $ 2.25. I would not recommended this place! We arrive at 8 and they close at 9 and told us we have 10 min to order because they are closing earlier then 9!!!

samurai sushi boat is my favorite sushi restaurant in the bay area. The owner is so sweet every time I come in she always welcomes me and asked how I am doing and how is everything and she actually means it. I love sushi and every time I am always happy with what I ordered and the quality of it and who doesn’t love $ 5 large bottle of sake during happy hour!

Poor service, waited forever just to get a drink and never got my refill. Huge Bummer: there were barely any rolls on the actual boats, the few that I saw and even fewer that I ate were really good. But all around you won’t find at samurai sushi ever again. With the name Samurai better step your game up!

Worth it just for the ramen. I don’t like sushi, so the black ramen is my go to dish while my wife downs ikura. Best and cheapest ramen in the neighborhood.

Good tasting sashimi, reasonable prices and very friendly service. I’d recommend this place for a quick bite and hot sake.

The rolls and side dishes that rotate in the sushi boat are very basic and underwhelming, mostly imitation meat rolls. Not only that, each plate is $ 4 – 5 for a small portion. I ordered the Dragon Roll which was decent but the Lion King Roll was really bad. It tasted like a blob of old cheese was baked over the roll.

I have tried and tried to like this place because our kids like it. They have stickers that you can collect to get an ice cream or something like that. And the owners are very nice. But the service is so bad I have given up. The final straw was last month for our daughters birthday. From past experience, I wanted to prepare them that we would be a party of six, so I came in at lunch to let them know. When we showed up, they had one server for the whole place — she was the hostess, busser, and server for fifty or so people. It was the second(and last) time we have had to leave without being served. For the love of God hire help!

THISISMYFAVORITESUSHIPLACE in Oakland(maybe even in life). The owners are beyond accommodating and attentive. Mama San is the best! They are very sweet and provide excellent service. That’s a plus because their sushi is soooooo DELICIOUS! It is always so fresh and filling. We get their sashimi dinners and every time I go, i dream about that tuna and salmon for days after! My mouth is watering writing this review just thinking about their food.

Sushi is solid and the atmosphere is fun! A little cheaper than Mijori.

Prices are a little high for the quality of sushi. Won’t go back but thought the sushi samurai boat was pretty cool(mostly corny) lol I was sad miso soup didn’t come with my sushi and the waitress could tell how bummed I was so she brought me and my boyfriend a free cup! How awesome, that’s where the stars come from, the friendly, accommodating staff. It is one of the only spots open later in the grand lake area so that is also a plus!

I am in love with Mama-San. She is the best thing since sliced hamachi. I have been a Frequent Diner since 2011, and this review is seriously overdue. My son gives this place 5 stars all around. He has often tried to bankrupt me in his quest for a platinum sticker and the holy grail of desserts, the fried green tea ice cream. I stick to the fish and love the ability to grab it off the boats. They have amazing lunch specials, too. We probably come here once a week. Family-friendly, date-friendly, eat-alone friendly. Delicious, fresh fish, without breaking the bank. They’ve even impressed my corporate clients for catering! I know it’s scary to try new sushi places, but you won’t be sorry you tried Samurai.

Unilocal’s 365 Challenge 2015 #34 — #365 My and my family were quite weary of the reviews for this restaurant, so we decided to check out other Japanese restaurant around the area but they opened at 5 pm and it was 4. We were craving for some Japanese food, with this restaurant being the only one open, we decided to dine in. Inside of the restaurant was somewhat busy, there’s even a revolving sushi bar in the middle of the restaurant. Service could be better but she tried to accommodate us. The food was 5 stars all the way! We ordered different sushi rolls, sushi, combination dinners and sashimi. The quality of the food was fresh and had an excellent presentation to it. Price wise it didn’t hurt our wallet for our big party. My sister will make this a staple whether she is craving Japanese food. Everything was on point!

I can’t remember the first time I met the owner with my wife but it was probably years ago. She’s so sweet that she often sits down with us and drinks saki. It’s neat to know an owner that genuinely cares about the quality of the food and the neighborhood. Talk to her once and she’ll never forget you! Love the quality of the fish and 2 $ sake happy hour special!!! Amazing. Staff is slow sometimes but I just walk over to register or ask the sushi chef. No big deal.

No bueno. A girlfriend and I went to fulfill an 8pm craving… sushi! We ordered: An Unagi Roll… ehhh not good, not bad. A Lion King Roll… ewwww. Upon first bite my girlfriend and I were thrown back by the strong taste of cheese. Yes, cheese. Typically a Lion King Roll is topped with a special sauce but never cheese?! WTH? It was a rubbery layer of cheddar or parmesan or ?? We took 2 pieces thinking we were wrong and simply couldn’t eat the rest… yuck. The service was good. That’s all. We won’t be returning.

Been here forever and finally my first Unilocal review on the restaurant. Great place for family sushi and able to watch local sport games just in case the spouse said lets eat out. Most items on menu are the same with other sushi place. It has boats floating around with various special plates but you can request directly with the chef if you want a special plate. A few days out of the week they have award prize stickers underneath the plates. If lucky you’ll find silver or gold stickers and trade in for various drinks and deserts. This what win us over from other sushi place because we have two boys and they will keep eating just to find a reward. You will also get a count down if it’s your birthday. Very fun place.

i’ve been there enough times that one or two of the wait staff recognize me. the lunches and bento dinners are good. I rarely get sushi, cause I go alone. The place always seems crowded with people weekend nights. it’s very close to where I live, so it’s a regular ‘go-to’ place for me…

I love sushi boat restaurants, but I came here after 8pm, and there were only 5 tiny dishes left on the whole carousel of boats. Plus what was left was expensive(I guess people had picked off the cheaper selections). The whole point of a sushi boat restaurant is getting to choose between lots of things! And it’s not like I was the only customer in the place. There were many people laughing, talking, sitting– more winding down than winding up their meals, but still. I wish I had just had the courage to get up and leave. I grimly ate three of the overpriced options. The next day I had an upset stomach. If you’re almost out of sushi, and what you have left is starting to go bad a little, you SHOULDNOT let new customers through your doors. You should hang up the closed sign. COMEON. I understand their desire not to make new sushi and waste it towards the end of the night, but what they did was just very uncaring towards the customer.

I have been coming here ever since they opened and have loved it. The owner is super sweet and the fish is fresh, reasonably priced with generous portions. The atmosphere is fun and family friendly. I have come here just with my husband, with my family and with large groups replete with babies and kids. If you have your birthday there, they have this loud and obnoxious happy birthday music that is great fun and send a free dessert down to you on a boat. Plus they have this fun sticker game where you can win free ice cream and drinks! We are regulars here and love coming here. Now that we have a new baby, we get takeout from here which is fast and well-packed — very convenient when you don’t want to wait on busy Friday and Saturday nights. We are regulars here and hope to come back to eat in the restaurant again when our baby is a bit older. I love Samurai Sushi Boat!

Instant gratification is watching little wooden boats meander past you with a plethora of different sushi creations, salads, and edamame that you can just pluck from the stream and devour. The sushi is fresh and beautifully prepared. I’m not an adventurous sushi eater as I am mostly vegetarian(but sometimes eat tuna). But they have endless varieties of sea creatures on display that would seduce even the strictest fish denier. And you don’t have to hold back because after eating my fill, I spent only $ 15. $ 15?! For all that?! Amazing deal. Yeah, this place wins.
