Lunch buffet tasted mediocre and it had limited vegetarian choices. The ‘papad’ was soggy but the owner did not care when I complained.

My favorite chicken tikka masala place in Oakland! The meat is always great quality and my food is ready for pick up super fast. Definitely my go to Indian place, plus they always have cool old bollywood movies on. Definitely recommend them!

Good indian food & convenient delivery in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland — what more can you ask for? I recommend just about everything on the menu. I’ve ordered from here a couple of times and I’ve been pretty happy with the meals & service so far. Seems pretty fresh and nicely spiced. The fact they deliver makes this place a winner!

Good hot food — and they’ve delivered within the time frame — … the samosas are especially good here… biryani OK — I think their veggie items are better… But all in all well worth it…

First time here. We usually pickup at Flavors of India Lakeshore, but looking at the two menus Flavors is charging $ 2 more per dish and Shaan is closer to us so we tried it. Very good, can’t fault it. Free rice too, Flavors charges, we saved about $ 10 and ordered on the Eat24. Was ready when we got there in 20min. Will go there again.

The food was solidly good and the service was very friendly and fast. We had a mango lassi, the lamb samosa, garlic naan, chicken tikka masala and palak paneer. Their palak paneer was VERY fresh. You could tell they stewed it perfectly. The chicken tikka masala was a touch salty but still good. The chicken chunks were huge! The samosa was well seasoned if not a bit oily.

Great local Indian cuisine delivery, BUT they put the delicious yogurt sauce that comes with the biryani in a plastic container that melts in the heat of the dish. PLEASEPACKAGETHESAUCESEPERATELY!!!

Found hair in food. Requested ‘hot’ but the food was extremely mild. Ordered Goat and Shrimp and both dishes had smokey burnt taste to it. Shrimp was over cooked, and Goat’s curry was watery. One star for quick delivery, within 30 mins of ordering via Eat24. Based on other reviews, I guess this place can be a hit or miss.

I have eaten at Shaan several times, and considered it(up until this past weekend) my new favorite neighborhood Indian place. It has great food, good prices, attentive service, and they always have Bollywood MTV playing. However, on Friday, I ordered some yogurt sauce to go with my Naan. As soon as I tasted the yogurt sauce, I was like«this is bad» and I told the waiter. He obviously didn’t understand me, and sort of argued with me, saying something like«It’s good isn’t it!» I had a little bit more, and called the other waiter who took it away. Not sure if they took it off the bill or not, but I am sure that I had fabulous food poisoning symptoms for about 2 – 3 days after. I tried to PM the business to give them a chance to apologize, but got nothing. So, if you go there, I’d say DON“T ORDER the YOGURTSAUCE!

Great food. Nice selection. Everything comes out fast except the chai tea. Never understood why that part takes long. They bring the food out in an odd order… like you’ll get your main dish without the rice or naan. Or the opposite, they’ll bring the rice and then the rest of the food comes later. Not a huge deal, but you do end up waiting for all the dishes to come to make sense of your meal. They always have some Bollywood movies or music videos running on a TV in the corner. That’s kinda fun :)

I have eaten here and enjoyed my meal fine enough and the service has always been okay. However this is not so much about the food as the service I received today. I am 21 weeks pregnant and have full preggo bladder happening, meaning I have to pee every 20 minutes(at minimum) and it’s a freakin’ emergency every time. Today, I stopped to get cash, then realized I need a bathroom stat. This was the closest place to me. Typically places have pity regarding pregnancy bladders, but not the staff at Shaan. I was told that the restrooms are for customers only. I completely get that, however, i believe like seats on BART, rules should be bent for those with disabilities and those who are expecting. Shaan was on my list of take-out places once our little one arrives. No longer.

After my eye doctor appointment accross the street, my girlfriend and I stopped in for lunch. What I find! The food was delicious and fresh and the staff was friendly and helpful. We tried everything in their buffet, we both had seconds, and we left stuffed and happy. I will be back!

Ordered at 8:15, food arrived at 8:37. Fastest delivery ever! We got the Chicken Tikka and Chicken Makhanwala. Both were excellent, Naan was hot and thin and fresh baked, Mango Lassi still frothy from being whipped up. The driver was horribly afraid of our dog and I felt bad about that. Will put the dog out next time. :) Will order again soon!

Service was good. The waiters was nice. You can tell that they wanted to make customers happy. Although presentation of food was great, the Prawn Saagwala was a bit watery … Garlic Naan was great. although thinner than what I was use to. I can see that maybe … I can order certain things… but not everything will be to my liking.

To be honest, I am not a big fan of Indian cuisine. I don’t know why, it might be a childhood trauma(I will spare you the details. Well, I ate too much curry something and… you can imagine…). However, this place is nice and low key and not too crazy for me and my curry aversion. If the husband feels like Indian and I have no good reasons why not, we usually order here. They are fast, reliable and the food is not too spicy if you order mild. I really enjoy the tandoori chicken, the spinach with paneer, the lamb stuffed naan and last but not least the wonderful mango lassi. Last week, I visited the restaurant itself with two elderly relatives who are visiting from Europe and have never eaten Indian food. I was pleasently surprised by the friendly welcome we received. It looks like this is a family run business. We ordered a variety of dishes and none disappointed. My guests were happy!

We love Shaan. Even as creatures of habit, there are few things we do every single week. Eating at Shaan is one of those things. We love the owners… they are really, really sweet. We love the food… it is a little more spicy than sweet. Our favorites are the chicken tikka masala and vindaloo. The veggie samosas are addictive.

Perfectly acceptable Indian food for supper. It’s not blow your mind good but it’s moderately spiced and edible. Grease levels are normal. I wouldn’t make a trip to go here but it’s ok for takeout and walk ins. Bathroom is clean, service is reasonable. Have not tried the buffet.
