History

Established in 2015.

Shattuck Cleaners is a perc free environmentally friendly green dry cleaner’s conveniently located in the Rockridge district of North Oakland. In January 2015 the owners of Arlene’s Cleaners in Berkeley took over the establishment from the previous owners. We are family operated business with over 30 years of experience in the textile industry and all of our dry cleaning is done on premise using state of the art equipment. We offer free pick up and delivery service to the cities of Berkeley, Oakland, Piedmont, San Leandro, Albany, El Cerrito, and Orinda. Our professional seamstress can accommodate you with all of your tailoring needs. We have a drive in parking lot for quick and easy access for your drop-​offs and pick-​ups.

Very expensive (over $ 2/​pound if I recall). And that was for drop off service. Socks were only half paired up– never understand that, what happens, did you just get lazy?!

How irony to hear this from an Asian dry cleaning lady in my own neighborhood.
I have been using them for a while and will never go back after this racial comment.

I’ve tried two nearby dry cleaners on Shattuck Ave. and this business is superior by far in terms of price, quality, and service. The prices are very reasonable (cheaper than Sunny Cleaners on Woolsey), especially considering the same-​day service. They managed to get every last street meat grease stain out of my white jeans, and my blazers and blouses always come back fresh and pressed. Like others have mentioned, the owners are lovely and provide great customer service and attention to detail. I have finally found my local dry cleaners! (I only wish they were open on Sunday, but I support their decision to take the day off!!)

Wow!!! Was googling and running all over Oakland looking for a place to do same day service, I was well over the time limit for the service but they still took me in and allowed me to add in a coat to wash too that I didn’t think i would be able to get for a few days. Amazing customer service and so friendly! I don’t get my clothes dry cleaned often because of past issues with cleaners, but wow you definitely have a loyal customer now!

Why 3 stars? Well they are very friendly, they do what they’re supposed to do (clean your clothes), and they do it pretty quickly.
Why not higher than 3 stars? They’re on the expensive side, and their hours aren’t always reliable (I’ve found them closed before 6:30).

After moving to Oakland, I was on the hunt for a local dry cleaner with good reviews and fast service. While this place doesn’t currently have a ton of reviews, I thought I would give it a try, and the 10% discount for new customers certainly didn’t hurt!
It is located in North Oakland, basically in striking distance from Berkeley and probably a 10 – 15 minute walk from the Ashby BART station. I’ve taken various clothing items including a suit, ties, and pants, and so far I’ve been very happy with their work! They even offered to apply the 10% discount later on when I forgot to show it after my first visit. I haven’t tried their same day service, but my friend who stayed with us raved about their fast turnaround.
The owners and staff have been uniformly friendly, and I will definitely visit them in the future!

My husband and I have used Shattuck Cleaners for years and are very satisfied. The owners are friendly, accommodating and helpful. When I threw my back out, they loaded my cleaned clothes into my car for me. They do alterations as well as special attention to spots and stains. They are truly a neighborhood-​serving small business and deserve to be supported.

The staff is super friendly and helpful. They can get your wash or dry cleaning done the same day. Though if you give them a bit more time they will express their relief with a smile.

I never write reviews here, but I need to vouch for this place. They do an EXCELLENT job. All you have to do is ask, and they will have your clothes ready for the next day. While this is by no means the closest cleaner to our house, it is our preferred cleaner. Today they earned not only this review but my absolute loyalty.
My boyfriend and I were VERY BUSY all day today, and completely forgot about needing to pick up his clothes for a funeral on Monday morning. I thought of the errand at 5 minutes after 6, and called immediately, hoping that they were open until 6:30. I caught them as they were locking up. I asked if they were open on Sunday (they are not). I asked what time they open on Monday (too late). He heard the panic in my voice, and said he would stay 15 minutes. My boyfriend rushed out the door to pick up the clothes. He received friendly service, despite the fact that we had lengthened their day, and when he tried to tip, it was not accepted. These people are SO KIND.
We wont put them through that again, and hope that you don’t do it either — but, if you want a kind cleaner who treats you like a customer AND a person AND does a spectacular job — this is the place for you.
THANK YOU so much for saving us! We know it was our fault, and the fact that you were generous with your time and kind about it means that much more because of it. You don’t know how grateful we are to be able to head to a sad event on Monday with a little less stress.

They know how to get the job done. My first visit I took in 5 dress shirts, 2 sweater vests, and a pair of dress pants in the morning, and was able to pick them up in the afternoon the same day. The prices for dry cleaning are reasonable — one of few in berkeley.
I’ll definitely bring my clothes here again! Love the owners they’re are so adorable.

The worst cleaners ever, I took around 20 shirts for dry cleaning and when I got them back, the white ones were yellow and the blue ones turned green and the the wrinkles everywhere.
I confronted the owner and he gave me a hard time.
I’ve to so many cleaners in the Bay Area, but this one stands out as the worst.
Stay away!!!
