St Vincent De Paul Society

2 years ago I was looking to help out during the holiday’s and since Glide was all full of volunteers, my friends and I decided to check out St. Vincent’s. Well we were not able to serve food, so we cleaned the streets. Actually we cleaned the entire block surronding St. Vincent’s.
There were a total of about 12 people and we were a machine. Me and my friend’s (3 total) volunteered to pick up used needles with this picker tool. What was amazing, was the way people hid needles in the bushes. From this tiny bush we gathered 16 needles. As we went from block to block people would thank us. Now this is right near Martin Luther King which is not the best area, but people’s attitudes change as they see their neighborhood being cleaned up.
I’m hoping next time we go back I can round up more people to help out.
