History

Established in 1999.

Studio-​FAB was a concept in development for over 15 years. Ever since we opened our first photo studio in Paris France in 1999, we’ve tried to bring the Fashion, Art, and Beauty of photography together in one space, including an Art Gallery and a full service commercial photography studio with ample space for event hosting. We are hosting Fashion shows, lectures, classes and workshops to inspire, educate, and network with creative professionals. Studio-​FAB, having just opened in early 2015, located in the center of Oakland’s thriving art district, is perfectly situated to be this hub we have always dreamed of. A space for professionals to create visual art and commercial content, a space to teach and learn, a space to exhibit, and a space to network. We hope you will join our network, and/​or become one of our photographic subjects (for what is an artist without their muse?).

Business Owner

Internationally renowned photographer, Leon Saperstein, has been traveling the world working for prestigious Fashion clients since 1999, when he first opened his photo studio in Paris, France. He has been published in the international editions of Elle, Bazaar, Cosmo, Marie Claire, and l’Officiel to name just a few. Please take a look at his website to see the opulent fashions of France and beyond. Now, just this year in 2015, he’s opened a new studio, studio-​FAB, in his home town of Oakland, California and wants to share his experience of Fashion, Art, and Beauty with the Bay Area. If I could give more then 5 stars I would. Meera has got to be one of the best photographers I have ever met. My family is pretty crazy and can be all over the place sometimes but she made it work. Her personality is awesome. Working with her was such a great experience.
I hope to do business with Leon, meera and sunny in the future. There all amazing. Leon worked around my wants and No other photographer was willing to do what I asked, it was as if I was asking for the impossible. I recommend them to everyone!!!

Wow. Leon is great. He was the photographer on a fundraising event we did with 100 people, and the photos are gorgeous and comprehensive — meaning that he took the time to «work the room,» getting shots of most everyone. I’ve been able to send them to guests.
Not only that, but on his own initiative he set up a mini studio downstairs with a black background and invited guests or groups of guests to get special photos there. I availed myself of it right away, knowing I needed a new headshot… and I got one of the best ever. Other people likewise posed and played. These are great gifts for the donors who attended.
Guests at the party wanted Leon to do their own events… and I’ve already recommended him to others. Also, for sure we’ll use his services at future events, including a major weekend festival, where we need photographs for sponsors but also artistic shots and documentary for the event.

WOWOWOW!!! If you want to look like magazine pictures, I HIGHLY recommend going to someone who has done that line of work — LEON & his Team! Since my corporate shoot, my professional attention has tremendously sky rocketed creating lots of business initiations within just a few months!
Being completely camera shy, Leon made it very comfortable. He went above and beyond his services with the number of shots, editing, and retouching even two months later to meet my company’s requirements; instead of the «I’m sorry this is not covered it will be an additional charge» jargon. I think after the satisfaction of his work product I am most satisfied with the no hassle post shoot service.

Leon was a wonderful photographer to work with and his space at FAB was the best experience I could have asked for while on set. The studio has great space and lighting was easy to use and set up. All in all, the professionalism and expertise that FAB offers is one of a kind in the Bay Area.

FAB is correct — I cannot say enough positive things about Studio FAB. I accompanied my CEO to his corporate headshot shoot today, and it was a great experience from beginning to end. Leon is incredibly talented, professional, and fun to work with. Sunny’s name mirrors her personality perfectly. The shots came out wonderfully (I had about 20 favorites), and equally impressive was the way Leon remained perfectly patient with my quite eccentric CEO. Boss left the shoot feeling like a million bucks. He thanked me a thousand times for booking his shoot with Leon. Thanks for making me look good, Studio FAB!
It is also worth noting that with his background and portfolio, Leon could totally get away with being an art snob and charging extreme rates. He does neither. I have a shopping list of photography needs that I will definitely take to Studio FAB.

Leon photographed our annual gala. He was friendly and professional– he even stayed past his shift to keep working. He has a fantastic, fine artist’s eye. He captured wonderful moments that others might have missed, and has a terrific knack for finding the best angle. He did a great job of gracefully getting posed shots and candids– a nice mix of formal and fun shots, without being in any way obtrusive. He provided us with all of the raw files so we could use the photos however we wanted after the event.

Leon did a fabulous job with our family pictures. It was a fun experience, which is not always the case when your taking pictures with young children. Leon was very good with our sons. I also appreciate how creative he was with our shots. I would definitely recommend him!

Last Christmas, I was looking for a novel gift for my wife when I learned Leon was offering a special holiday package. My wife and I recently welcomed the birth of our second child (another boy), so I got the idea that a family photo shoot would be the perfect gift. I’d been familiar with and admired Leon’s work for more than two decades, and looked forward to working with him personally.
From the beginning, I knew I was dealing with a professional. His standard one-​hour photo shoot would have been ideal for adults, but realizing he’d be working with a newborn and toddler, we agree a two-​hour shoot would probably be better to account for any unforeseen hiccups and we agreed to a couple of other custom add-​ons. The final price was more than reason.
He and I discussed locations and what type of vibe we were going for, but I left the particulars to my wife since it was her gift.
The day of the shoot, Leon was prepared to fulfill our vision and had a couple of ideas of his own, which were well welcomed. He was extremely patient with both of our kids, the baby was a tad fussy and the toddler was antsy. He was rattled or frustrated it didn’t show. He even took suggestions from our three-​year-​old, which were decent.
Which 24 hours, Leon sent proofs for us to review.– a mix of standard family portraits, playful and artsy. There were too many good options to choose from, so it took my wife and I a while to make our final selections. The final product was delivered on time.
Our only regret is that we don’t like in the Bay Area, otherwise we’d use Leon for all of our family pictures.

Leon provided wonderful services for our annual fundraising event. Not only were the photos gorgeous, but he worked with us in advance and at the event in order to get a perfect sense of what we needed and who needed to be photographed. We received our photos promptly after the event and they were perfect!!!

We used Leon to do our engagement and wedding pictures. The engagement shot is so good that we have used it at every opportunity, including holidays cards, invites, etc.
Leon is basically a fashion photographer so that the variety of wedding pictures is far from the usual… with more variety and subject matter. He was good enough to agree to supply us with the raw files so that we could select our final album and apply photo applications.
He did do photoshop work on the engagement photos, which did a very nice job in removing some of those unwanted shadows and facial elements.
Leon is very talented, and very flexible. Thats a really nice combination. You are not getting a predefined template. With Leon you get to create what you want with the additon of his skill and super high end equipment.
