Alert! Alert! Went in today to get a sandwich. The woman working there, I believe is related to the owner, had just come out of the bathroom. She went behind the counter and went to the sink I thought to wash her hands, but all she did was put her finger tips in the water and then dried her hands! She then put on her gloves with her still dirty hands(ewe, what’s on her hands !) then was going to make a sandwich! Will NEVER eat there again! How many times does she do this and how many people have eaten a sandwich with her nastiness on it! I knew she was the most unfriendly person I have ever seen but yuck! She is also a dirty person as well. If you have ever gotten sick after eating there you now know why. With all the bad reviews how are they still open?

What can I say? My order wasn’t prepared properly, the staff was surly and refused to redo the order or offer a refund, then claimed that there was no way to contact the manager or the offices of the national chain. I should have noticed that their Unilocal ratings were mediocre.

Service was a little slow at this Subway, but I got a satisfactory sandwich. The workers didn’t seem happy at all to be working there.

Subway is located in a nice area in Montclair village. The food is the same as any other subway but the service is terrible. Every time I go there, the same guy is working. He is very slow(works at snail pace), gets distracted by looking away while making the sandwiches, not very friendly, and holds up the line. The most I have waited for a sandwich is about 10 – 12 min with only about 5 people in line. They used to have more of a staff but then it rolled down to one guy. I hope this will improve

What can I say? It’s a Subway. The sandwiches all taste the same. But holy cow, the service. It is like some evil entity came and sucked all of the joy out of the place. I labored hard one day to get a smile out of the female employee. It worked, but I had to break a sweat. One day we went in and my daughter needed the key for the restroom. The woman would not give it to her until it was our turn to order. After 5 minutes, my daughter expressed her fear that she might not be able to wait that long, so I asked for it again, got a dirty look, and finally the key. It felt like everything was a chore that day. I guess that’s the gist of it, really. When looking over these reviews, these employees don’t seem very happy. It rubs off on the guests when they come in for lunch, dinner, whatever. It’s that… and the rusty lettuce.

Worst service. Yiu can barely here the sandwich artist. I asked for two chicken noodle soups, he point to a sign as to say the they only have broccoli and cheddar soup. I step out of line to call and find out if that’s okay for my fellow employees. So I tell him that’s okay, then he tells me he’s out of soup. Really??? We couldn’t have started with that first? Then we get everything rung up at the register and he just stares at me. What the hell for? I ask how much, he mumbles something, at that point I just give his 40 to get this over with. Will Never be coming back to this location!!!

The service is terrible! The gentleman behind the counter could barely be heard and was not very friendly or helpful. The bathroom was despicable! Worse than some of the worst gas station bathrooms I’ve ever seen! We will mever come here again!

My husband and I went in for sandwich’s a few days ago. We live in Montclair but had never tried this SubWay. We both ordered ham & turnkey with swiss chess on Flat Bread. While they were being made– I looked @ the guy that was making the sandwich– He took 1 piece of thin ham, 1 piece of thin turkey [the kind you can see through] and a small piece of swiss cheese– then handed it over to the girl who put lots of lettuce, in it, a slice of tomato, and a few chili’s… that was it !! It was probably the thinnest sandwich we’d ever seen !! What happened to those meat & cheese filled sandwiches that you see on TV? Well, it wasn’t happening @ this place, that’s for sure !! We’ll never go back… Safeway across the street has a MUCH better sandwich, for less money, plus they give you credit for every sandwich you buy [so you wind up getting a free sandwich]… Don’t go to this place– a ripoff !! [and we loved it when the donut shop was here !!] judy & terry

I’ve been a regular to this subway because it’s close to my house, but I have no plans of returning in the future. I got a meatball marinara which is my usual and today the woman that made my sandwich(Gogan) was rude and acted put out and irritated the whole time she was helping me. She put half(if even) the normal amount of meatballs and when I asked if I could have a little more she snapped at me «it’s extra» I try to sympathize with people when I get bad service because I have worked in the food and hospitality business so I know it’s not easy, But, when someone makes you(as the customer) feel badly about frequenting their business then the root of the problem becomes obvious. It takes one bad experience to turn a person off from coming back to a business and this subway has lost my business permanently. I hope that in the future they either work more towards training their staff to learn basic human kindness or just be better at filtering out those who may not be cut out for the business to begin with.

This is quite honestly the worst subway I have ever been too. Yes it is nestled in the lovely neighborhood of Montclair but this seems to have no impact to the deplorable service you will find here. The employees are slow, rude, barely talk or make eye contact, stingy on the toppings and more often than, not behind or their prep which means I wait a long time. I usually come in after 2 where there is not much happening, low traffic so to have to wait long waits and lack of prep is ridiculous. I only come here because I have a young boy I care for who loves one of their sandwiches.

Why do I continue coming here? This is my 3rd& last time. Unfriendly, dirty tables, girl is always rude/rolling her eyes at people & I always see safety violations especially when the eye-rolling girl switches from food to money. Today I watched her pull olives off a chicken sandwich & throw them back into the olive bin. If you know anything about food safety, you know this is cross contamination for vegetarians and/or people with allergies. Food portions are small. I’d be curious to know if they’re following Subway standards. I hear the morning guy is really cool but I have yet to experience anything cool in this place.

This is the best subway i’ve been to. They have great customer service, are quick, and clean. I go here often while on lunch for a veggie 5 dolla footlong… pretty easy to not mess up. :)

Fast, but mediocre service. The people helping me did very little talking today. Grinder’s is much better, if you have cash on you!

The sandwich is good. This review is for the lady that works there. Jesus Christ, she is SO rude. She asked me a question and I couldn’t understand her, so I said«excuse me?» and she rolled her eyes at me, annoyed. Ugh. Can’t stand rude people.

Large, clean store, but chronically understaffed. One guy making sandwiches on a weekday afternoon = long waits. Being Montclair, there’s no free parking nearby, either.

Yay, finally, a new low calorie option in Montclair! I popped in to this new location to grab a coffee on Saturday morning when I was in a rush and the lines to both Starbucks and Peet’s were almost out the door. Yes, that was a bold move I know, but the coffee was fresh and did the trick. Went back with my son the other day to get sandwiches and everything was up to snuff. We shall return! Side note: I love the little bags they put the kids meals in. They are great for storing Legos and other small toys.
