We are a fully-​featured film, video, music, and media production studio based in West Oakland. With full white and green cycloramas, coworking space, editing suites, dressing rooms, meeting rooms, and open studio space, we can support small and large projects alike.

We also offer full production services for all phases of media development.

History

Established in 2012.

The Supernatural Factory was founded in the spirit of creative collaboration. Oakland is well represented in the DIY art culture, but lacks hubs for digital storytellers.

We wanted to change that, so we opened the studio to provide a space for artists and professionals alike to gather and produce work that would impossible anywhere else.

Meet the Business Owner

Oliver D.

Business Owner

Oliver is a Belgian born video professional with over a decade in the industry. Coming to the Bay Area by way of New York City, where he created and managed media production departments for Billboard, Nielson, and several others.

He is comfortable with every aspect of video production from development all the way to delivery and back again. He opened the Supernatural Factory in hopes of working on more creative and artistic projects while simultaneously provide a flexible space for video pros throughout the Bay Area.

There’s a lot of work spaces in East Bay, but Supernatural Factory is definitely the best I’ve seen. Having a desk here and using the space has done wonders for my work. It got it all out of the small room I was wedged into before, and into a space I’m able to move and freely work. The guys have also helped me with a lot of advice on production value and equipment. I could not have done the work I’m doing now without this place and these people. I highly recommend grabbing space here before it fills.

After several years in the production business, I can easily say this is the absolute best and most professional space I have every worked in. Oliver is beyond accommodating and even when we had to make last minute changes to a shoot, it wasn’t a problem. Even after we realized we were short on some of the equipment we needed due to a time crunch and budgeting issues, the Supernatural Factory lent us what we needed and helped us achieve our creative vision with no additional fee. The Supernatural Factory time and time again has gone above and beyond for us, and it’s a delight working with the team over there.
The place is massive, full of incredibly talented and knowledgable folks who have years of professional experience doing what they do, and can accommodate almost any creative task from stage setup to projection to green screen. I would highly recommend coming to these guys for any of your creative needs, odds are they have everything you need all in one awesome place.

In Oakland, you have a unique situation– lots of filmmakers treading the fine line between freelance and in-​house working situations. Coworking situations often offer the baseline office space needed for postproduction (private offices), yet lack the things real video production professionals actually need to get work done (like gear storage and blazing-​fast internet)
SNF not only houses dedicated workdesks, but boasts ample production studio space as well. By combining these essential components, you get a space with a capability unrivaled by anything in the East Bay. To top it all off, the guys running the place each have decades of experience in the industry and are actually nice people.

Supernatural Factory is awesome! Can’t recommend these guys enough. The crew was professional, funny and super easy to work with. I used them for a corporate video shoot and livestream. It was my first time, but they made it painless and the video looks great. I will definitely use them for the next one, too!

This is a very cool space. There is more than enough room to play, work, create, meet, hold events, etc. There are also a variety of resources available. I often work with videographers, animators, designers, and creative directors and definitely recommend Supernatural Factory to anyone in need of a creative space in SF.
