If your 4.0 GPA child is not accepted by this school, they will not explain nor provide any reason why.

CPS is the pre-​eminent high school in northern California and competes with Harvard Westlake as the top secondary school on the west coast. At last check, something like ¾ of graduating seniors were National Merit semifinalists, finalists, or winners.
Historically strong programs include English (world class), forensics (world class), foreign languages, arts, history, and math. Historically under-​resourced programs include advanced sciences.
Secluded from the freeway in a gully, the campus looks like an idyllic, architecturally balanced ski village, a fantasy of rolling floral slopes and cascading, homey classroom buildings.
Like Unilocal,CPS has succeeded in cultivating the delicate balance of social norms and incentives whereby the overwhelming behavioral tendency is a joyous contribution to the common good, both within the campus and without. You can’t put that in a bottle — but you can put it in a gully.

My parents sent me here years ago. I went kicking and screaming because everyone else I knew was going to Berkeley High. Now this may surprise some, but it turns out that parents actually *do* know more than most 14 year olds. CPS was a good experience and a good education. Hats off…

This is a very nice campus. I’ve gone here a few times for debate tournaments back in my high school days. However, as I said to my friends, one spark and WOOSH. This place will go up in flames. All of the buildings (well about 80% of it) is covered in wood. It looks like a ski lodge in the winter, and lincoln cabins in the the summer.
Dunno about the education you can get here, but I like the campus. There’s a hammock somewhere, but it’s pretty ratty from last I was there.
