The Hat Guys

This place is the best. My son wears fitted MLB hats and the sizing is not always consistent. Since he wears them with the brim totally flat (ugh!), they are uncomfortable if they are even a little bit too small. We brought 4 of them to The Hat Guys with the hope that they might be able to stretch them. Other hat shops (which shall remain nameless) will not stretch hats which were not purchased at their shop. Not so with The Hat Guys. Cody, the extremely nice, knowledgeable guy behind the counter, stretched all 4 and refused to accept any payment. Of course, I bought a hat while I was there to at least try to make up for his generosity. The selection at The Hat Guys is off the charts, so finding the perfect hat is not difficult.

This is the best place to buy hats. We wouldn’t go anywhere else. The owner Ken oranje has great customer service and truly cares about his customers. Everyone greets you warmly and makes sure that you are will taken care of. This is the best place ever to buy hats!

Went today needing a hat for upcoming vacation. Let me just say it was a enjoyable experience. Joyce was more than willing to take time with me and explain the nuances of each hat I was deciding on. Will definitely return for next hat purchase.

I came in knowing absolutely nothing. Their hat selection was impressive, my knowledgable hat friend asked them to get me a pork pie style black hat (Stevie Ray Vaughn style) and they had my size. The hat was perfect for me. Within the next few hours, I had my first compliment about my hat. Thank you Hat Guys!

The first time I walked in, many years ago, I was staggered by how many hats there were in this place. In spite of all the choices, the guy working there zeroed in IMMEDIATELY on the perfect hat for me. Several visits and several hats later, they have never steered me wrong. Quality is the best, and prices are competitive, given the selection, the expertise and the customer service. They’ll tell you how to wear your hat as well as how to take care of it. This place is a treasure.

Visited this shop to find a hat for my father. Staff was friendly, and helpful. The young man who greeted me first showed me the regular priced hats, then showed me the rest of the store. I found a nice Stetson on sale. I will go back to this store when I need a hat, and highly recommend it.

Whats not to love about a place where you can get great advice, try on and buy some serious hats and get all the services associated with them? I have had the folks here make suggestions on the angle that I should wear my hats. No one has ever talked to me about that. They’ve taught me how to customize my hat and to not be afraid of trying to do things like brim shaping myself. Today, I brought in a 1920’s homburg that was too round, and they helped me stretch it a wee bit into more of an oval. Now I can wear it without a headache! No charge! I also wanted to buy a hat box, and they just gave me one. I love that these folks are so darn good at what they do. A true resource for guys who wear hats. Like you.

I stopped in one morning during a break from the office to see if they did hat resizing. Joyce, the lady behind the counter, was super friendly and informed me that they did! Great! I have a wool felt pirate hat (a nice one, custom made) that came in just a bit snug. I brought it in a few days later, left it with Joyce to put on their heat/​steamer and then in a hat block. I came back later in the afternoon and was delighted that the hat had a much nicer, more comfortable fit. And it only cost me a couple of bucks! Thanks, Hat Guys & Staff!

I bought a fedora here last week. I have received several compliments, and I really like it, fits great. This store has a great selection, and a friendly, helpful staff. The hats behind the counter are somewhat expensive ($ 150+) but you can definitely tell the difference between them and a cheaper hat. I will definitely be back to add to my collection.

This store is pretty nuts. So many hats! Quite expensive though. The lady behind the counter was really friendly and very willing to answer all of our questions. The cheapest newsboy cap they had was $ 30, which was too much for us because we were looking to get 6 for our groomsmen and the groom and ring bearer. But if you ever need a nice hat, this is definitely the place to go.

Those of us lucky enough to have a source like the Hat Guys in our local area should give thanks! This is an absolutely outstanding establishment providing excellent customer options in a segment of the market that is all but overlooked in many places — high quality headwear for men! Sure you can find a cap or even a wool or straw hat other places if you are looking, but it is exceedingly rare to find a business that can offer fine fur felt fedoras or a collapsible silk tophat for instance.
Ken and the team at Hat Guys are knowledgeable, friendly and ready to find a way to meet your needs even if it takes some creativity! I bought my first really good hat from Ken more than a decade ago, and he absolutely went above and beyond, not just selling me a hat; they also taught me how to care for my investment, how to clean and store the felt, and how to wear the piece as it is meant to be worn — more involved than I ever imagined!
The Hat Guys launched my love affair with quality headwear, and has provided excellent service over the years as I expanded my collection. All the men in my wedding party got their Dobbs Jet 707s at the Hat Guys, and my brother-​in-​law headed straight to the corner of 19^th & Broadway for his groomsman’s Biltmore Diamond Crowns after he proposed because of the great customer experience we had.
The Hat Guys is a local gem that we can all be proud of — it is more than a store, it’s an experience and I for one would hesitate to go anywhere else when I need a topper!

I walked in here and only said a few words and the guy knew exactly what I wanted. He showed me a hat I loved that was better quality and half the price of what that hat store on union square wanted. Then he showed me a hat for about the same as I would have paid there, that was beautiful. 100% fur felt, silk lined, wonderful quality and look.
Ten minutes, in, out, happy.

This in an official hat store.
1. They know what size your head is already.
2. They know what hats look good on you.
3. There is a bunch of shit that you don’t know about hats. They know that shit. Like, stretching that hat.

Wonderful store staffed by men and women who know hats. No amateurs here — such as a certain hat store in Berkeley.
HUGE selection of mens hats that are very well organized. The store is CLEAN and a nice environment to shop. No pressure sales.
They also provide professional repairs.
Nothing good is cheap so don’t expect to come in and have something given to you. Having said that I think the prices are very fair considering the professional sales staff and store front. I will come back and buy again.

If you can’t find a hat, cap, fedora, Kangol, brim. Then you are blind. This place has it all. I saw a hat in here that reminded me of Good Times. OOO I wanted it so bad, but no shoes too match. Ended up buying some hella dope Kangols. Walked out feeling like a million bucks, swag was through the roof.
Went out that night to the club and my hat was the topic of all conversations. Received many compliments. Always got that questioned asked, where did u get that from? Can I wear your hat? Lol
These guys are smart they can look at you and tell you what size your head is. I think they definitely seen some heads throughout their time. The staff is friendly and cool. They carry a good vibe. Will be back again n again n again.

The Hat Guys are exactly what their name says. This store sells, shapes, and cleans exactly that, hats. It’s nice to find a store these days that specializes in one thing. They don’t try to be something else, kind of like Kevin Bacon trying to be a bad guy in X-​Men. Kevin, you are Mr. Footloose, you can’t be a bad guy!
That being said, I can’t think of a better store to get a fedora. Actually, I can’t think of another store at all for the nice straw hats and formal hats that they carry. Hat guys has been around a long time and hopefully be around along time to come.
