Despite the crazy long wait during Happy Hour, but this is the place if you want affordable good sushi. Its not as good as premium sushi places, but its better than the sushi that’s already prepped at the grocery store(safeway, whole foods), etc. We always order here for lunch during work days.

This place is great! It was lunch time and I got out from the 19th St Bart station. I was hungry! I walked two blocks toward Franklin St to look for someplace to eat and I found Yaya sushi. This place is small. I think they only have 12 tables for customers to set. But the service is quick. The food was great! I ordered their lunch special B+B, which is a bento box of shashimi tuna and salmon and tempura shrimp. I’ve enjoyed that food so much. I left very satisfied. I would definitely recommend this place for lunch if you are in a budget. You can practically enjoy a healthy meal for less than $ 10.

I don’t know why, but I’ve tried this place maybe 4 or 5 times over the course of a few months… it was probably because this sushi place is so close to my work and because they have an extensive half off menu soon after lunch hour. I’m pretty sure it is half off because their fish is anything BUT fresh. It is so chewy and left me feeling nauseated. Same goes with their seaweed salad and edamame… it all tastes like they made it a week ago, and that the fish had been frozen for months before. There’s always a line out the door… but be aware, the last time I went I decided I would never go back because of how sick I felt the rest of the day.

I work nearby and this is one of our regular lunch places. The food is good, service is fast and the prices very reasonable. But, it is very small and the tables fill up quickly around noon.

The restaurant is small so if you have a large party they won’t be able to accommodate. The value and price for your meal is of good value. I usually get the lunch bento box to go and fills me up!

I’d really rather give this place 3.5 stars, but since there isn’t half stars I shall round down. The best thing about this place is the price. Half price sushi after 1:10pm. There is always a line so make sure you get there before the HS kids that like to frequent this place as well. One of my favorite/best value dishes is the sushi combo dish for $ 5.75. This definitely isn’t close to being the best sushi I’ve had, but for the price and lack of other sushi options in this area, I try not to complain too much.

The place is small but they are fast and it tastes good. The price matches the portions so dont expect anything big. It’s not fancy sushi but it’s good quick lunch sushi. They have great deals after 110pm so check them out!

Get your ya ya’s out, because this place is equal to a sushi buffet, and at the same cost. How this place gets 4 stars I’ll never know given the sashimi and rolls are filled with more rice than fish and have that sushi buffet flavor. I guess people like their cheap lunch boxes? I’m a lot of things, but cheap isn’t one of them, so I can say I wasn’t impressed. My co-worker ordered a bunch of rolls with salmon and tuna, but honestly it all tasted like room temperature and overall plain. Not a fan of fake crab in my california roll and not a fan of the lukewarm crab in my soft-shell crab roll. Why can’t these Japanese restaurants fry it up so it’s hot? Is that too much to ask. Anyways, I’ll step off my soap box for now. 3 stars.

The lunch bento box is so cheap, and yummy! Tasty sashimi(fresh!) and the portions are nice. All of the rolls are standard, quality, and for what you’re paying id say it’s bang for your buck. The restaurant itself is pretty small(probably can seat 10 – 15 people max) but they staff are all nice and quick. I really like this place, give it a shot if you’re in the neighborhood it’s totally worth it. I got the caterpillar roll(uploaded a picture) and it was delicious!

The quality of the food was okay. I have had sushi plenty of times in the past. The quality just wasn’t there. I ordered a bento box and a spicy tuna roll.

On my first visit I was a little disappointed that my sashimi was still frozen… but I came here a second time and the lunch box was much better. I ordered the salmon avocado role with sashimi. It’s a great price for a combo, let alone sushi. I’m sad that a lot of restaurants on these streets close early. Otherwise, I’d love to bring my friends here for dinner. Oh well, a great place to satisfy your sushi craving, even if you only have a 30 minute lunch. I’ll be coming back. If you’re really in a hurry, they accept take out orders!

BOMBSUSHI!(well dragon roll and rocknroll) Half-off on select menu items after 1:15! I ALWAYS take my lunch here at 1:15. The place is always packed during those times and the staff are really nice and friendly.

I think this was one of the worst Japanese food I’ve had recently. This is a tiny restaurant with about 15 crammed seats. It gets extremely busy at around 1:10 pm because it’s ½ priced for some items apparently. I should have known to turn around and run the other way when I saw the long plastic Chinese style chopsticks at each table. But I was hungry, so I thought I’d give it a try. Their lunch box seemed like a good deal. I ordered sukiyaki and ebi katsu for the lunch box option, assuming ebi katsu was like tonkatsu or chicken-katsu — breaded and fried. I also orderd kaibashira(scallops), hamachi and saba nigiri sushi. Miso soup came out first, pretty bland, not really good dashi nor was the amount of dashi enough. They use dried wakame seaweed, and they were still clumped in the soup since soup wasn’t very hot. They brought out sushi and much to my dismay, the scallops were chopped up and mixed with tobiko. The menu had no mentioned of chopped scallop or tobiko but the server insisted that is how they make it. It was watery, bland and all I could taste was tobiko. The hamachi was watery and bland as well. The worst sushi was saba, with thick piece of fish sliced improperly, with tiny bit of rice. It was too salty, too vinegary, and no balance at all. It also seems that they don’t form the rice first then put the fish on, the rice was the same shape as the fish, so they must put loose rice on their hand, put the fish on, then shape the rice. Completely unacceptable sushi. I think grocery store make better sushi than theirs. The lunch box came out. The salad is iceberg lettuce served with some mayo dressing from Japanese restaurants of 1980’s.(I was thinking this is the only place that does this anymore and found another restaurant, but that’s another review). Salad is tasteless, dressing is terrible. I have no idea what kind of rice it was that they used. It was dry with no sheen that good rice has. Then the dishes… sukiyaki was not sukiyaki at all. It was some cooked beef mixed with chopped up iceberg pieces and uncooked carrots, dowsed with teriyaki sauce. Not only was it not sukiyaki, it was too much sauce, salty and the combination did not work, it was terrible. What was supposed to be ebi katsu was shrimp tempura. The actual tempura was the most decent thing on the menu, but it wasn’t what I ordered. In conclusion, this food was an insult and a fraud. They have no clue what they are doing and should NEVER be labeling this crap as Japanese food. They really should learn how to cook Japanese food properly and learn what each dish is called before they open a restaurant.

If you need a cheap sushi fix and don’t mind eating after 1:10 p.m. this is a decent choice. Limited selection of rolls and sushi and cash only. Call ahead to order(usually 20−30mins due to the demand) I would say the CA rolls and anything with it are worth it(shrimp tempura, soft shell crab, etc.)

Just grabbed lunch there. After 1:10PM, it’s 50% off on certain menu items – CASHONLY. Ask for the discount menu at the cash register. Ordered the 8 piece Nigiri(normally it’s $ 8.95 but at 50% off, that’s $ 4.91 including tax). They packed it to go and when I got back to my desk, was rather disappointed. Fish slices were small and paper thin but sushi rice was flavorful. Fish was at room temperature but wasn’t spoiled. Rice portion was also small so don’t expect to get filled. I would say it’s equivalent to an appetizer portion. Takeout container also included a few slices of pickled ginger, two packs of soy sauce and a small cup of miso soup. At 50% off, it filled my itch for sushi. Definitely not worth it at full price and it’s certainly not Ozumo quality sushi but then again, you’re paying substantially less. Went back the next day and ordered their largest combo – the 28 pc Sushi for Two with two cups of miso soup.(Reg price $ 25.50 or $ 12.25 @ 50% off). Devoured everything in 30 min and this time, I was full but I had to pay $ 10 more. Compared to my Nigiri order the day before, the fish seemed to be sliced a little thicker and there was more sushi rice. Went back again on Friday(WOW – that’s 3 times in one week – I really love their 50% menu)! This time I tried the 15 pc Sushi & Sashimi(Reg price $ 10.95 or $ 5.48 @ 50% off) plus the 12 pc Regular Sushi(Reg price $ 9.95 or $ 4.98 @ 50% off). Both had a 6 pc CA roll that fills you up. I definitely hit my quota of sushi and sashimi this week!

3.5 stars. Got there at 1:15 for happy hour(high five for happy hour at 1!) and was sat down in 5 min. Took my order, received within 10 minutes. Food was solid, 3 stars but when I got my bill, total was 9 bucks! 50 percent off really makes a difference. You get what you pay for though. This is not your highest grade stuff. Temper the expectation for the value and you should be good to go.

It’s so yummy! The sushi and lunch box are my favorite. California roll is cheap and testy. After 13:00, 50% off on all rolls.

I went to this place for lunch with my work mates. My first impression of it was that was cramped and divish. Despite it’s limited seating, we were seated almost immediately. I ordered their A+A Bento box with chicken teriyaki and California rolls. Of course the old adage of «Do not judge a book by its cover» was proven true once again. My bento box was as good as any non-divish sushi place. Moreover, my lunch was under $ 10 including tax and tip. Once we were finish, they handled our check pretty quickly. Of course, it was hard not to since the cashier was about 6 feet away. Being in a tiny restaurant has it advantages. At first you may be put-offed by its tiny size and its divish appearance, but the price of the food and its quality makes up for it.
