Freckled Frosting is a dedicated gluten free bakery that offers a tremendous variety of baked good. Our products are not only gluten free either. We have a many items that are also gluten free, egg free, soy free, nut free and dairy free (vegan). We have white bread, muffins, brownies, cookies, cupcakes, custom cakes, donuts, pizza crust, stuffed breads and so much more. Everything is made in our dedicated gluten free bakery and from scratch. You can check us out on facebook for our daily items available or get more information on our website. We opened in 2012 in Seymour, CT but we have since moved to Oakville, CT. Owner, Renee Jackson started this bakery to help those in need with Celiac’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and other auto immune disorders. Not only those but many people with food allergies too! Our goal is to create and supply the best gluten free baked goodies out there and educate as many people as we can so they can live happy and healthy lives.

History

Established in 2012.

Freckled Frosting is a specialty bakery dedicated to gluten free baked goods and caters to people with celiac disease, wheat sensitivity and food allergies to eggs, dairy, soy, and nuts. Among the menu offerings are gluten-​free cupcakes, muffins, bread, pizza crust, cookies, cakes, brownies, quickbreads and much more. Pop Tarts are even available on occasion. Everything is made right there in the facility.

The name of the bakery pays homage to her red hair. It just so happens that her daughter and husband have red hair and freckles too. It was her husband who sparked the gluten free idea. He suffered for many years with an auto immune disorder. Her brother also has a wheat sensitivity. So to help her family it was her mission to give them what they needed to feel better.

We do everything we can to supply the best gluten free baked goods out there. We want everyone to be able to enjoy a treat that’s just for them, that’s looks and tastes amazing too!

Meet the Manager

At the age of 38, Renee Jackson decided to throw in the Corporate America towel and start her own gluten free bakery. She received her Masters Degree from Sacred Heart University in Finance and worked in the Treasury Department for corporations. She married in 2002 to an amazing husband who suffered from several auto immune disorders. They also have a young daughter who loves that her Mom can bake gluten free goodies.

After 13 years she decided that there just had to be more to life and had an overwhelming desire to help people that had similar issues as her husband. She knew what people were going through and the toll it could take on a person and their family. She knew how difficult it was to find anything out there that tasted good and was gluten free. Her mission after that was to create a place people could go to get a treat that was not only gluten free but also focused on certain allergens. So many of the products made are also soy free, nut free, and vegan.
