Not sure what store Val T. went to, but «gruff»?
My parents and I have been using Shores Hardware for years, and we’ve always found everyone there helpful and knowledgeable. They even use the magic phrase «I don’t know» if they’re unfamiliar with your appliance, problem or situation. In that case, they have always asked me to take a picture, get the model number — something specific to help them help me. I find this much better than their larger competitors merely echoing a product’s manufacturer’s sales brochure so they can sell you something.

Been out to Shores hardware on 2 occasions, since it is literally a 2 min ride up the road. Both times I went to buy washers for a leaky faucet.
I found the owner rather gruff. I get the feeling not too many women come into the store. I’ve gotten better service at Lowes, without the condescending attitude of shores hardware.
