History
Established in 2008.
In 2003, we traveled to Italy, the birthplace of espresso, and visited the countryside of Tuscany and had world-class cappuccino. Upon returning to the US, we were disappointed in the espresso and cappuccino. Something was birthed in us in Italy to find genuine Italian espresso-and if we didn’t find it, we’d make it ourselves. The idea of starting a business was brewing (get it?).
In 2004, Joe began to shift in his role as a local pastor, wanting to spend more time with people, which is his passion. Margie, a licensed therapist, also loves people and coffee, and baking. A perfect fit for this crazy venture.
But our barbaric mindset isn’t confined to our coffee. In truth, it applies to the whole of life. Life is an adventure, and ought to be lived with a wild, bold flare. We agree with Jesus who came to give us abundant life. So, we invite you to join the hordes at Barbaric Bean Coffee Roasters and never go back to stale, boring coffee again. Carpe Beanum.

Joe P.
Business Owner
In 2003, Joe and Margie traveled to Italy, the birthplace of espresso, and visited the countryside of Tuscany. Everywhere we were served world-class cappuccino. Something was birthed in Italy to find truly genuine Italian espresso – and if we didn’t find it, we’d make it ourselves.
In 2004, Joe grew restless in his role as assistant pastor of a local church, feeling that he spent too much time in front of his computer, and not enough time with people, which is his passion. A dramatic shift was taking place, taking him into the marketplace. He wanted to create a place where people could gather to share life. What better than over coffee or tea? Joe’s background as a pastor, crisis intervention counselor and clinical social worker has given him a wealth of experience with people. This experience has prepared him and further ignites his passion to spend time with people in the coffee bar, hoping to provide that place of refuge with a fantastic cup of coffee and a listening ear.
