Coastal Academy is an award-​winning, Certified California public charter school that serves grades K-​8. This tuition-​free program is flexible and includes the best of homeschooling and the traditional classroom experience. Students have the option of choosing the learning program that best fits their needs; homeschooling independently, or attending class a couple days per week and studying independently on the alternating days. The curriculum can be personalized and is overseen by a California credentialed teacher. In addition to challenging academics, the school offers art, musical theater, clubs, after school sports, and family friendly field trips. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and has received Exemplary Independent Study Recognition. Test scores are among the highest in the district.

History

Established in 2003.

Coastal Academy was established in 2003 and is a part of The Classical Academy Organization. The school began with 150 students and now serves over 1,000 students. The organization’s mission is to partner with families to inspire each student to think critically, communicate effectively, and achieve success by providing academic choice. Coastal Academy has among the highest test scores in the district. Other schools in The Classical Academy organization include The Classical Academy, Escondido, The Classical Academy, Vista, Classical Academy High School, and Classical Academy Online.

Meet the Manager

Marcy C.

Manager

Principal Marcy Cashin has over 14 years of public school experience. She received her B.A. in Liberal Studies from San Diego State University, along with her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (CLAD) from California State University San Marcos. She also has a Educational Administration Credential and Master’s degree. Marcy has worked for The Classical Academies for the past ten years as a curriculum writer, Lead Educational Specialist, and Principal. After opening The Classical Academy Vista, she became Principal of Coastal Academy. She currently oversees the daily operation of Coastal Academy. She delights in her position of partnering with parents and staff to serve students, support teachers, and inspire learning.
