D.A.V. Veteran’s Thrift Store

Their prices are ridiculous they have used jackets that cost like if they were new i was looking at little boy pants and had rips looking like they were ready to get thrown out for like 10 bucks they used to have good prices but now its way to high for being used.

I found some good stuff here a few year ago, but this time I was disappointed. I sometimes look for random items for art projects and find it really irritating when a store like this charges prices for some things that are comparable to what you would pay new. Their prices seem to have gone up, and probably as the result the store is way overcrowded. It is hard to see straight because everything is piled up and packed in, and a lot of it cluttered or poorly organized. It reminded me of what I DON’T want my house to look like and I walked out empty handed. Come on DAV lower your prices and clean out some inventory!

I love this place. I have found some of my favorite old tee shirts in here.
They are remarkably organized in this store. Most stuff is where it belongs (sizes, styles, etc.) There is a high turnover rate in this store, so it is wise to check back often if you are looking for something.
There are some good reasons to shop in this store, not the least of which it is a Veteran’s Thrift Store.

Isn’t the point of this nonprofit to raise money for disabled veterans? We carefully loaded a Crate and Barrel down filled sofa, chair and ottoman into our vehicle and drove all the way to this thrift shop to donate it. We could have sold it on Craigslist for some quick cash but we wanted to support the DAV. We drop donations off monthly. However, the woman at the drop off said she wouldn’t accept the furniture because it had cat hair on it. Seriously? Turning down hundreds of dollars because she didn’t want to sweep off a few cat hairs? The furniture was in far better shape then the furniture they had for sale inside so the only thing I can think of is that they didn’t have room for it at the time. Couldn’t she have been honest? Or maybe she didn’t want to have to unload the furniture because she was by herself? Who knows. Sorry vets but after this experience we will be donating to a different thrift shop.

I’d have to agree with many others that this place is hit or miss. Sometimes it’s relatively clean & other times it’s a mess. There’s intermittent sounds of glass breaking comming from the back which is… interesting. The clothing selection is good, ranging from 25 cents to $ 20 for more expensive items. The book selection is not as good & doesnt appear to be in any particular arrangement. I have seen a fight go down in this store. Definitely a grungy thrift experience, may be your thing or may not be.

Today I went into the DAV thrift store and found a fish tank with gravel and a backdrop for only $ 8. I had been thinking about getting a separate small tank to keep my feeder fish. As I was walking to the checkout it cut up my thumb as I soon found out it was splitting on the sides. The staff was aware of the accident but it took at least 5 minutes to have someone bring me to the staff bathroom (They do not have public restrooms) to wash it off. Bad experience yet all of my other visits have been great. Good prices on nice clothes just try to stay away from furniture and other used décor. Not very organized and messy in some of the sections. A spring cleaning would be good to get broken items of the shelves. Over all amazing thrift store in need of some organization with one bad experience.

This is used clothing but they price everything so high. There is a ton of clothing that just sits on the racks bc no one is gonna pay 6 $ for an outdated shirt. Some the dresses 12+ wet suits in poor condition 30 $. They do do a color tag of the day for a whole 20% off really they are that clueless get the old stuff off the racks make it 50%. No mirrors or a fitting room even the crappy over priced goodwill has a fitting room. They could make that store a lot more money if they priced things right but they would rather have a ton of clothing sitting in the store. If your younger and want a good thrift store go a half mile down to kit and caboodle.

Like any thrift stores, it’s hit or miss. I’ve gotten brand new to nearly brand new items from this place. Sure it’s dusty. What do you expect for a not for profit store? Complainers just want stuff for almost free.

This place is an aweful mess with extremely overpriced USED items. I feel as though they really like to price everything at 8.95 no deals, sales, or mark downs. This place gets all of their mechandise for free (donations) and jacks the price up to the community. I used to love this place, you used to be able to find cool stuff for a good price, but now the place is a just messy and prices are inconsistent and really don’t match what your buying. You are better off just buying new stuff, you’ll pay the same price.

I have been coming to this place for years! Recently I’ve been busy with work and school that I hardly have any time to scavenge through thrift stores for buried treasures (clothes, home décor, fabric, etc).
Today, I chose to make a stop by the DAV in search of white fabric for project. Before snooping around in the fabric section, I made my way to the men’s section to look around a bit.
The top of the racks had scattered miscellaneous objects of all sorts, so I wasn’t sure if I was looking at treasure or trash. A few clothing were on the floor, seems as if people just don’t care to put things back. Unexpectedly, I found a navy blue jacket with zipper pockets for a great price of $ 5. The jacket made up for a messy jacket because I was excited.
I passed the electronics section where most of the shelves had empty spaces and items did not look well kept. There was separate shelf separate from the walls that contained everything and anything, so it looked like a pile of garbage.
I ended up finding white fabric with a decent size, score! That made my visit a lot more easier because I was starting to feel congested from what felt like dust in the air.
The place needs some kind of spring cleaning for items that look like they’ve been on the shelves for ages. A little more organization, maybe labeling off more section for knick-​knacks (you’ll find those all throughout the store as well). This is the reason why I deducted 2 stars.
Prices are still low and if you look hard enough you’ll find some buried vintage items, which is awesome. There’s also a ton of stuff here, so I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for.

I don’t know how people give this shop anything above average. It is a poorly ran store. It has nothing worth buying except clothes and is a mess. I would rather hand a veteran a 10 and give him or her a handshake then waste my time in here…

Like to check out the inventory every so often. If anyone ever needs crutches, this is the place to check! Did pick up an expensive «name brand» blouse for work for $ 6.95. Feel it was a good find

New to the area and have only been there once, but I did really well on my first time in. I left with about 8 records ($ 1 each), I love old music and they had a good selection. I also found a cute dress and a beach chair both for under $ 5 bucks. It was a busy Saturday, and I did stand in line for awhile, but I’ll definitely back to score some more good deals.

I don’t really shop there unless I need an outfit for a themed party or a gag gift for people but I love to donate here. They are always very nice and are very accepting of your donations. This is my favorite place to donate as it helps the veterans.

Where have all the good times gone. It’s an overpriced mess now. Used to be a cheap mess that I could dig around in for hours but now you want 10 dollar’s for a stained tshirt you got for free? Come on. I’ve noticed thrift stores been slowly but surely rising their prices and it’s gotten to a point where it just seems like a big joke with no punchline. 70 dollars for a backpack? Now that’s funny.

This review is for the women’s clothing and shoes. I found a bunch of great pieces here (a pair of black dress pants, Michael Looks jeans, denim capris, 3 tops, and two pairs of shoes) for only 36 dollars. I’m tall too so it’s hard for me to find clothes that fit but they had such a large selection that I was able to find everything I needed and more. I thought it was fairly organized too. The only negative about this place is they don’t have a dressing room but they have a mirror so you can try the stuff on over your clothes. It looked like they hard a large selection of furniture too but I didn’t get a chance to look at it closely because I was there for clothes.

Best overall thrift store in North County! Huge selection of furniture, housewares, electronics, clothing, etc… great variety of anything you might need, and at great prices! Plan on more time than you thought though, as the line to check out can be long!

I have been a valued customer for the past 9 months– and today of all days– (mind you I donate and purchase every day– as well as some of my family, who happen to be Veteran (s) — anyways at approximately 1:15PM I called the MAIN business office, before going in, and spoke with the so-​called «supervisor» and was told that YES they do in fact take American Express– and again, I made the call before going into the store to avoid PROBLEMS. So she tells me «YES» and so I shop for over an HOUR and wait in a 30 minute long line (repeat– I go there everyday) finally I get up to the counter and am told they do NOT accept America. Express — so my bone to pick is Not with the staff currently working there, but the MAIN «headquarters» that lead me into that disaster. So I really think that whole staff at the «MAIN» office should be fined, fired, don’t care just outta there.
Otherwise that’s MY thrift shop so get your managers/​supervisors/​off their power power trip before the power really goes out. (No pun intended).

I remember when this place opened up in the late 70s. I used to find tons of great stuff here, but now it’s pretty exclusively clothing, glassware and crappy VCRs. Huge store, you can dig and look for a long while, but usually don’t come away with anything. EXCEPT if you’re looking for used clothes. In that case, it’s heaven; but if you’re after any hard goods, the quality is nil.
Oh, and any really interesting items are waaaaaaay behind the cashiers on shelving you can barely see. And since there are only two registers open (if you’re lucky) and there’s always a long line, you feel bad asking to see anything back there and holding up the line.
OK, enough of my rant. Bottom line: I haven’t found anything really good here in years.

Typical thrift store. Big, dusty and a few hidden gems here and there. My boyfriend and I stopped by here for the first time today. Our thing that we like to look for is record albums. Surprisingly the record selection was huge and filled with artist we enjoy: Zeppelin, Beatles, Clapton, Petty, grateful dead etc. all $ 1 each ! 27 albums and 2 CDs later we were very pleased!
