Nice lady. Helped me find the place when I got lost (it’s kind of hard to find). Bouncers haircut looks good. He smells great. She cut a couple nails too short which sucks. I’ve never had a groomer do that before. But overall good. He was happy when we left, unlike when we went to petsmart he was shaking and not himself for two days afterwards. Will definitely be going back.

Very impressed with our grooming experience. Gretchen really knows her trade. She thoroughly explained what was needed for my dogs failing coat and my dog looked much improved when I picked her up. Love the little report card that I got to remind me of the next steps needed to continue to improve my dogs coat and a little bag of treats for her too.
(tip) Her shop is in the very back of the industrial center, facing the sprinter tracks (not the rude one up close to the street.) Take your dog to a seasoned, passionate groomer like Gretchen, you will be glad you did.

THis woman rocks! Diane was my long lost groomer! She is the only one who knows my Rose… she explained how a Terrier should be groomed and even had back up to explain why! I just love her and am glad I found her… going again March 2014! and she gave my Rose a toy and a beautiful pink ribbon for Valentines Day! LOVE YOU DIANE… SEE YOU IN MARCH 2014!

First time at Gretchen’s Pet Grooming today and very pleased with my dog’s treatment. They do not kennel at this business and the dogs play together. My mini schnauzer is typically a bit aggressive with other dogs however in this environment she had no issues! They care about the health of your pet’s coat and give you a bit of background information on why the cut the way they do… left today with a bag of treats and a ball for Bella my dog. Very pleased. :-)

Do not take your pet here to be groomed unless you want to be ripped off! My husband is a marine, we just moved to the area and needed a groomer for our husky. If you know anything about huskies, you know they only require a bath, blow out, brush, and dry. This groomer charged us $ 100 for this service, ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! We have never paid more than $ 55 for our husky to be groomed. After returning home from this appointment, I called 4 other grooming salons which quoted me prices between $ 40 – 55. This groomer charged me more than double the average price. I will not be returning to this grooming salon and I hope after you read this, you will not give her your business either!!!

My Westie needed to be groomed, badly. I called to make an appointment, but first asked if they could do Westie cuts. The lady I spoke to said yes, that she was cutting a Scottie at that time. I was told that she would be «fit in» and attended to between appointments. I dropped her off shortly after. After 5 hours I picked her up. She had just been bathed (she was still wet). She had had her face cut crookedly. Her body, nails, bottom, and tail were also not cut. She still had knots! For the $ 50 I paid I could have bought clippers and done just as bad of a job :(Definitley not going back or recommending!

Dian the groomer is awesome! My dog Fozzie got the best cut he’s ever gotten in his three years. Reasonably priced and does it all. She’s got a lot of experience and it shows! 5 stars! She sent us home with a cool bandana and gave Fozzie a toy too :)

I just found out about Gretchen. She was our groomer for 10 years and had the warmest heart I knew. We would spend many a night gabbing while she finished up. When our dog was sick 5 years ago, she came to our home to give us transfer factor, because her dogs had been thru it too. She loved dogs, she worked her butt off and never wanted to charge more. Always covered in hair, with that great smile, wonderful attitude, and a sparkle in her eye, that was what made her the BEST!
The new person there should move on. Don’t keep the phone number and business name of a wonderful woman you’ve never met, respect her, she earned it, find a new place.
To her family and friends we send our love, I know that it was hard to get in touch with people, but I know that her best friend was with her, my heart goes out to you.

R.I.P. Gretchen! We all are so sad to hear about your passing. There is no replacing you nor your love that you had for our dogs.

Gretchen was awesome, and will be very hard to replace. I’ve been trying to get ahold of her but kept finding the mailbox full and finally today I drove to the shop only to find the sign. What the heck happened? She was so young and full of energy. May she rest in peace and her family find comfort in knowing she was wonderful and will be missed.

I’ve been taking my three dogs to Gretchen for two years now and she is by-​far, the best groomer I’ve ever had. I have a doodle, a scottie, and a yorkie and she takes care of my babies. Every time we go in, the dogs can’t wait to run inside and greet her.
I too, at first thought it was strange that she kept all the dogs back where you cant’ see them, but think about it. If I was a dog groomer, would I want all the dogs barking profusely every time they see a body enter the room? Typically, that’s what dogs do right? Animal grooming can’t be an easy job – having a bunch of loud and excited dogs barking up a storm can easily stress out any person, including a client.
As for timing, yes it does take all day to wash, brush, trim, clean, and pretty up an animal. If anyone has ever tried to shave their own dog, they’d know exactly how hard it is and how lengthy it can be. Because Gretchen strives for perfection, it will take all day to get your dog to look perfect.
Also, I don’t think people should be concerned if their dog has a small nicks, especially if they are adult dogs or puppies that do not groomed often enough. Think about it, if your dog doesn’t get groomed regularly, how will they get used to the procedure? They will fight the groomer causing him/​her to make mistakes. For those who have puppies, try grooming your own puppy first and see how hard it is to cut and shave a squirmy and feisty little creature. My dogs have never had nicks or cuts from Gretchen, but have had them from other places. And even if they had an uneven spot, I know it’s my dog’s fault because I know they still put up somewhat of a fight after years of grooming – they’re dogs.
As for those who dogs have mats in their hair, blame yourself for not taking care of your own animal. Would you let your head of hair become so matted that your own head would have to be shaved? Getting back to praising Gretchen – she simply does amazing work and I still drive my babies from Temecula to see her. She does the best job around and she’s always very attentive to what you want done on your animal. Also, my dogs leave smelling so sweet and they all get a bag of yummy treats to take home! She’s the best and I wouldn’t got anywhere else!

With four different breeds, we have a time challenge managing the grooming of the pack. After finding Gretchen, reading the reviews and personally discussing our families time restraints with Gretchen, I was confident we located a Groomer who could and would work an appointment schedule. The first attempt to get a pair of dogs in/​out in 3 hours failed. As did the second attempt (5hrs). After making our appointment a month in advance, I agreed for two dogs groomed first then swap for the last dog in order to prevent them being kenneled for 5 hours. I always arrive early (8:30a) and within 10 min, Gretchen had 9 dogs waiting. I was certain most dogs would be in a kennel for the majority of the day. My search for a groomer who is able to schedule appointments will have to continue. Only use Gretchen Pet Grooming if having your pets in a kennel all day is acceptable. Gretchen did recommend if I wanted a schedule for grooming, i would have to find a location which has about 8 groomers on staff and she works along. I agreed. It is unfortunate failed to tell me she was unable to meet my needs at the initial meeting.

I have to very energetic schnauzers and one is slow to trust bc he is a rescue dog and was beaten pior to my husband and I adopting him. We had an awesome groomer in La Mesa but when we moved to Vista decided La Mesa was just too far to drive… so got on Unilocal and found Gretchen. What a lucky find! Gretchen is very good with my dogs and they come out cute as can be and smelling awesome! I even referred Gretchen to a friend of mine with a grumpy old schnauzer and she handled him well too. All in all… she is an awesome groomer, does a good job and prices her grooming at a very reasonable price. Yes, she does have my boys all day but its worth the wait!

Gretchen’s Pet Grooming was recommended by every pet owner I know for good reason. Not only is Gretchen pleasant to talk to, she genuinely cares about your animal.
You’ll find that a lot of groomers are rough with your pet which makes it a bad experience for everyone. Not Gretchen! My mini schnauzer Mia Bella loves going to the groomer and looks great after.
The first few times Mia Bella was groomed she was scared to get in a new spot. Gretchen recognized that she was fine when she was near the window and has put her there ever since. The extra thought goes a long way.
For only $ 45 (small dog) you get a wash, blueberry facial, groom, a themed scarf and some treats. You can’t beat that!
It ma may look weird when I am driving down the street with my scarfed-​up furr ball Mia Bella handing out of the window, but whatever makes the little squirt happy.

A liitle hard to find, but worth it. We take our American Eskimo here and Gretchen does a fantastic job with him. She obviously spends a lot of time with him and he’s groomed beautifully. No anxiety or fearfulness from him either, which is huge. It does take all day tho, so don’t expect to pick up your dog in an hour or two.
