Don’t be discouraged by the co-location inside. Chevron gas station — this is a great place for casual Mexican food. Clean and well lit, serving all the regular well known Mexican classics. Portions are good and prices are very reasonable. Each week day have their own specials — try the less than $ 2 fish tacos on Sunday.

Good food, always fresh. Used to eat here a lot when i worked around the area. Still try to go when i can. Always has the same quality, and the staff has always been nice and accommodating. Sometimes it can take long but if you order ahead of time its more convenient.

This place is really good. Hard to believe since it is attached to a gas station but it’s really good food, they have a small salsa bar and those awesome carrots with jalapeños. Staff is very friendly too.

This is a fantastic burrito shop. Their food and sauce is always good. Don’t discount the fact that they are located in a gas station as they are not affiliated with the gas station. My personal favorite is the vegetarian burrito because it’s loaded with lots of vegetables and pico. The chips and guacamole are also really good The only downfall to this burrito shop is that they are somewhat slow and usually can’t ever take an order over the phone because some the staff only speak Spanish. However our order is always right.

This was my second visit here to this place and they don’t disappoint. The food is very good but nothing special. I ordered the 2 cheese enchilada plate, 3 roll tacos with everything and a carne asada quesadilla. The enchiladas had the perfect amount of cheese, the roll tacos were freshly rolled and deep fried and the carne in the quesadilla was pretty juicy. It’s attached to a Chevron gas station and the space is pretty small but not tiny; a few booths and some tables in the middle section. A sweet older lady was the cashier and she barely spoke English but an «A» for effort for trying, seriously, it was the cutest. She also made sure all my order was correct before handing it over to me. Reminds me of the grandma who fed you while you over at her house. Overall, I had a good experience and I might be back to try other special plates offered.

What is Caldo de Pollo It is a blanket of yummy goodness on a cold day Or Chicken Soup for Your Soul, which also fills up your body! The adjacent gas station makes you feel like one day this place will end up on «Diner’s, Drive-ins and Dives».

This place is a great little place to stop. The food is always tasty and fresh when we’ve gotten it, but other reviewers are right when they say this place is stingy. We love that they have a special on shrimp tacos on Wednesdays, but is it really«special» when it only has 2 shrimp instead the usual 3?(From reading older reviews, this used to have 3 shrimp, not only 2…) They ration out napkins and charge for refills as well, so that’s a disappointment, too. However, there are a few items on the menu that we really enjoy, and we keep going back for those. But honestly, it’s hard to keep loving a place that’s getting stingier and stingier with it’s customers…

I was stuck in traffic so I decided to check out King Burrito on a friend’s recommendation. Ordered a carnitas burrito and was pretty disappointed by the portion size. I’m pretty sure the tortilla weighed more than the contents. They also keep the salsa cups behind the counter, I assume to limit the amount that you can use. It always bugs me when people nickle and dime you on condiments. Staff was friendly enough and the burrito tasted good, but for $ 5 I want more bang for my buck.

I have an ambivalent relationship with King Burrito. In terms of the cost of the daily specials and location, our arrangement is wonderful: quick, easy, and I can fill myself up for little more than a few dollars. Unfortunately, King Burrito can be a lazy and miserly partner. Carnitas can come with big chunks of fat, fish tacos are often mushy like baby food, and the carne asada will sometimes taste like generic mystery meat. Portion-wise you never know whether you’re going to get a burrito the size of a football or roll of pennies. Overall, I’m not saying don’t go to King Burrito, just be in the gambling mood.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from a mexican fast food shop attached to a Chevron station. The Adobada burrito was terrible… the meat tasted ok but there was very little… it was mostly tortilla and the salsa from the fresh salsa bar was gross. Try somewhere else.

I may not have paid attention to the location of this casual hideaway, as it is inside of a Chevron gas station store. My son had us meet him there. The shared private-single bathroom is always very clean and well stocked, a big plus on our list. King Burrito is consistently a good choice when you are having a Mexi-food craving. The portions are generous. The owners are friendly. The prices are decent, especially if you just want a quick bean and cheese burrito. They have a full Mexican menu and each entrée I have tried has been tasty. If you are getting gasoline or making a trip to Walmart, Albertson’s or Wells Fargo, stop in and feast!

They charge you for refills, stingy on the salsa. Cali burritos were BAD. King burrito was edible but nothing you’d ever want to order again. Moral of the story: don’t expect much from a place connected to a gas station.

Tried the place and in my opinion it’s ok. The carne Asada burrito needed a bit more Flavor. I’m sorry if I’m wrong but the beans tasted like they came from a can. The staff was very friendly. To be fair I only tried two items so. Based on what I had I give them 3 stars.

Nestled strangely inside a gas station, this taquería offers what you would expect in so cal. The salsas were alright. I liked the chipotle salsa the best. Cash only, I had to run to my car to get some change. My chicken burrito was ok.

If you’re looking for a good«Baja» style fast Mexican food place, this is your spot. Don’t be alarmed by the fact that this restaurant is tucked away in the side of a gas station. We think it actually adds to the charm of the joint, with more emphasis on «joint» rather than«charm». Let’s be honest… good Mexican food doesn’t come from restaurants with waiters that wear nice button downs, slacks or skirts… Good Mexican food comes from«joints» with cheesy menu photos(or no photos at all), murals of Mexico painted on the wall, a horchata machine, and an old Mexican woman running the register whose English vocabulary includes all words on the menu, as well as «thank you» and«have a nice day». All of these elements exist at King Burrito. Good, authentic, greasy Mexican food! The Chicken Soup here is basically one of the best Mexican soups that we’ve ever had. The chile relleno, carne asada, and beans/cheese/rice burritos are excellent as well! You can’t go wrong! Give it a shot and I guarantee you’ll be back for more! Adiós!

Took my kid to Legoland and while we were down here, I decided to look for some Carne Asada fries. After searching this dish, Unilocal led us here. This place is literally next door to the corner Chevron. Same building. They even share the same restroom. Ordered the carne asada fried and carne asada tacos. Asada fries: steak fries with beef, cheese, ranch, and guacamole. Nothing else special or extravagant. I didn’t get much of a lasting impression like I first tried else where in San Diego 10 years ago. Asada tacos: Tacos with beef, onions, cilantro, topped with guacamole. Also nothing spectacular or original. Food: asi asi(«so so» in Spanish) Dining area: handful of tables Atmosphere: fast food feel, authentic Mexican Restroom: shared with Chevron, clean Overall experience: good, but no lasting experience Would come back: sure, but I live too far

My bf ordered a burrito from here and it was HUGE. omg I had never seen such a thing and I am originally from Texas. It was egg and chorizo and cheese and it had great salsa. I wasnt even in the mood for it but it was quite good I had to admit.

Best shrimp taco I’ve ever had and it’s only $ 1.29 on Wednesdays are you kidding me?! It’s got 3 of those huge, long breaded shrimp filling the sizable taco and a few shreds of cabbage all smothered in a creamy white sauce. Also, try the champurrado, a chocolate-based atole(a thick, hot Mexican drink) made with masa(hominy flour), piloncillo(unrefined cane sugar), milk and cinnamon. They have different daily deals and there’s always the cheap bean burrito. Some of the food is just okay just like any other taco shop but it gets 5 stars for the shrimp taco they’re practically giving away & the champurrado

I probably should round down to 3 stars but I’m feeling generous today and I’m also willing to give them the benefit of the doubt here. I stopped in earlier today to check out this Mexican joint inside the Chevron gas station. I’m always fascinated by this fusion of concepts and my interest is always piqued when trying to find how such a partnership works. There’s surprisingly a decent amout of seating inside with enough tables to accommodate a group of 8 with ease. Parking will be an issue because of the shared space so be prepared to walk a little and make sure to be on alert when walking through the parking lot and gas station. King Burrito is not open 24 hours but they are open for most of the day. What I like about King Burrito is their Carnitas Burrito. For $ 4.40, you can hook yourself up with some pork heaven. The magical meat is cooked well and paired with some equally magical guacamole and pico de gallo. You can ask for your carnitas to be cooked well done so that you can enjoy those little crispies. So you’re probably wondering why I almost docked a star. Well, during my burrito extravaganza I bit into not one, not two, but three bones. It was quite the predicament really. On the one side, I was loving the flavor of the burrito and the salsa verde and the pickled carrots. But on the flip side, I was becoming more and more fearful of biting into another bone. One should not be afraid to eat, and I was. But like i said, I’m feeling generous today…
