My dad always said, if you need repairs, ask your mechanic where he would go to get his own car fixed if he can’t do it himself. I did just that two weeks ago when I was introduced to Mastertech. Mastertech — Affordable, professional, knowledgeable, with integrity. When I called Mastertech, three garages said my car was too far gone and I would have to junk her. What a sad day! She was originally in Hurricane Ike (Florida), then shipped and sold in the Snow Belt of Akron, Ohio. Made the trek through the Southwest Desert in August that melted my tires and weather stripping around the windshield. I brought my baby home from the hospital in that car 11 years ago to boot. Needless to say, I really did not want to say goodbye to my car! The brake line was completely rusted through and the engine leaked like a siv. The mechanic was so patient and used a torch for over seven hours until the rusted pieces broke free so he could finish the job. I can’t thank them enough. I could afford the repairs but not the 5 years of new car payments and this place repaired her almost good as new!

Nate, Rick and Lou took excellent care of me. My truck has never ran this good. I have known these guys for a while now and their honesty and determination are their greatest assets. You get what you pay for. If you want your car fixed right, go to Mastertech.

Pretty simple… These guys are honest, straight shooters, with fast and reliable service. They have that small town vibe and great customer service. We have been repeat customers for several years now with our vehicles and always recommend them to our friends and family without hesitation. They have been able to handle any and all of our vehicle needs from something simple like oil changes to big jobs! Feels really good to know you have a mechanic you can trust and confide in for all our auto needs.

My go to mechanic. They have been servicing my families cars for years and always do a great job. They always have great customer service and they get the job done quick (for a good price also).

i have been taking my car here for at least over 10 years… maybe longer? You get what you pay for! Exceptionally good service, IMO. I have read a few of the other reviews and see some complaints about cost. I feel good about the money I spend here. Their work can be trusted and they are not out to swindle you… they just need to be paid for doing their job. I assume they have bills and families, just as I do. I have had «dirty» mechanics and I am so grateful that I have found someone I can trust.
I also don’t have a lot of money and sometimes I can’t do everything they recommend. I always tell them my bottom line and they tell me what NEEDS to be done and what can wait.
These people feel like family to me. I won’t go anywhere else.

Nate and his crew at Mastertech where extremely kind and helpful. As most people know, warranty company’s try to wiggle out of their obligations as much as possible, but nate spent hours on the phone fighting for me. They also take pride in their work. Nate found more flaws with my car and did not let the car leave till it was running like a top. They also are very fairly priced.

If you love your car than get your car service here they treat you like family and they make sure your comfortable if you decide to wait if not they offer you a ride. Going here you get your money’s worth plus they accept military and or AAA for discount

I recently moved from Boston to Oceanside and needed to have a smog check before registering my car in California. I didn’t give Mastertech much notice, but they got back to me quickly and arranged an appointment. I have to say this was a truly pleasant experience. Nate was efficient and personable (as one would expect a former Marine to be), and my car was finished promptly. It was obvious from phone conversations I could not help overhearing while I waited that this shop does quite a bit of very skilled work and are competent at what they do. I will certainly bring my car to them for servicing when it needs it. Their online appointment system is easy to use, and I appreciated their offering a coupon discount for the smog check. They also offer a shuttle service to get you home if your car will be in the shop for any length of time. Just all around great place.

Didn’t put this review but date was around mid 2014. I called almost three hours ahead of time and yet they hadn’t even started the paperwork to get me out of here. Other than the lack of scheduling I felt like the repairs were very overpriced. $ 140 just to get it «diagnosed» after I told them exactly what I needed repaired and then an extra 760 $ odd dollars for them to rebuild a carburetor that didn’t even fix the issue. If you want your car worked on and have the money to throw around then by all means bring it here but I feel like they simply rip some, not all customers, off. Don’t let their courtesy fool you because they really only care about your money.

I’ve been taking my Chevrolet Malibu to Mastertech since around 2006. Overall going here each time my car breaks down is way cheaper than getting a new car (not to count the added reg & insurance costs). At this point I never even give it a second thought bringing it here for repairs over the dealer. Nate (a fellow devil dog) is very personable and always gives me some type of discount. But more importantly, I don’t have to worry about my car being in good hands when I take it in, I know I’ll be taken care of. I’ve used their after hours drop box and walked it in as well, so feel free to bring your car in day or night. You can park it in their lot and they will look at it in the morning and call you with an estimate.

Honestly this place over charges for repairs! I was quoted $ 1,000 to replace 8 spark plugs and wires on a f150 a while back.
A few months later I called to explain a brake issue I had and could fix but just wanted to see what they would say and again… the verbal ballpark was outrageous.
Bottomline…they ARE qualified to do the work BUT they just charge too much and more than likely upcharge on parts too. Even when I offered to buy the part myself from the dealership in the box. I was told they couldn’t do that. Anyhow, it might be because their overhead is expensive but either way… no matter what industry you’re in you have to be fair a charge the going rate. Not more than the going rate.

Overpriced… Staff was less than helpful, they do not take payment over the phone, checks or American Express. I would highly recommend finding a different shop to do repairs

I just can’t say it enough, the guys here at Mastertech are amazing. I needed some work done on my Audi and they did a fantastic job. I will always recommend anyone and everyone to come here. The quality of work is exceptional and the price is great. If your looking for a great automotive repair shop, this is your place.

Mastertech’s night drop-​off option came in very handy when my car broke down late one evening. I was able to get it towed to Mastertech, and they took care of it promptly and efficiently. Since then, I’ve come here multiple times, and never had a bad experience.

Most service shops in this area have that shade tree feel when walking through the front door but definitely not these guys! I take both my wife’s car and my Jeep here for inspection, service and repair. Always fast and professional. Always hospitable and affordable. I’m sold.

The name says it all, really.
I recently bought a beat up 92 Ford F150, that had some mechanical issues.
Before I found Mastertech, I took my truck to three other shops in North County and none of them were able to isolate the issue. The techs over at Mastertech successfully isolated my problem within a few days — it was a failing torque converter. I had even had a reputable Oceanside transmission specialist swear up and down that it wasn’t the torque converter. I was turned away from another shop because my vehicle wasn’t OBD2 equipped. What a joke.
I was immediately impressed by the cleanliness and organization of the shop, as well as the presentation of the mechanics themselves. Everyone was friendly and well-​kempt and the shop was clean as a whistle! It seems like a trivial observation, but these kinds of things will tell you a great deal about the quality of work you’re going to receive. Steer clear of other greasemonkey mechanics and get over to Mastertech where they’re cleaned and prepped to perform some top-​notch under-​the-​hood surgery on your vehicle!
I’m extremely happy that I found Mastertech. Based on my experience, Its clear that they employ REAL technicians that can troubleshoot mechanical problems without completely relying on computerized diagnostics to do the brain-​work for them. I brought this truck in with no history and they were able to correct its problems with masterful execution.
The technicians at Mastertech, including the owner, Rick, called me every day to keep me updated and I was out of the shop and cruisin’ down the 78 in a weeks time.
They charge more for their time than other mechanics around town, but it kind of boils down to this: «Good work ain’t cheap, and cheap work ain’t good.»
I highly recommend Mastertech, and I will be returning here for any automotive issues in the future. It is both a relief and pleasure to know that quality businesses like Mastertech still exist.

These guys have taken care of my cars for years. Giving me a ride when I need one. Great follow up, service reminders, and letting me know when it’s not worth making repairs. It’s never fun to spend money on auto repairs. Good to know when you get honesty.

Went in 2 hours before closing without an appointment in hopes of having my car smogged. They were able to take my car back and have me done in 40 minutes. They were excellent and friendly even though I showed up unannounced. Great service and great people. Definitely recommend.
PS. They have coupons on their site and I basically got the California extra tax for free.
