Its a cool corner bar, dive and friendly(IMO), but I find the music too loud. I keep going there and there are only a handful of us and we cannot talk over the tunes. If it were packed, then maybe I could see it being loud, but turn it down for us early evening guests! BTW, play pool and meet someone. I met a nice Marine even though I was old enough to be his momma(not a coug).

Good place to catch a show. Live music every weekend. Dive bar at its finest. The staff is awesome, everyone is super friendly. Beer only, but they have a great selection. The bar sits on a busy corner with big open windows which makes for great people watching. Dog friendly. Local favorite.

Wow that’s a great shame went down today July 262015 pier view pub to play pool and the usual bartender I think her name was Katt was not there what’s up guys I really like coming in there and playing pool but not when there is a bartender that only serves men and ignores the women I pay just as well as the men do, why don’t I get the same service well one customer you won’t have to worry about wont be back

Yea was hanging out and having a good time but barely brushed an elbow of a ghetto bird Xander treated me like a hobo on the corner. I understand you have to protect your establishment but when I’m a local enjoying 2 beers over a 3 hour period it’s degrading and insulting. #commonsense

It is a dive but the bartender was amazing! Great personality, very friendly, she even cured my stomach by making me soda water and limes! She made great recommendations for other places in the area and for different beers to try based on other beers that were had!

My friend and and I came in twice and decided to get some drinks the second time around after some Mexican food and wow, what a nice buzz(: The people there are pretty nice and the bartender there eased up to us. Thanks for the nice buzz but guess what?! I lost my passport right after I left that bar before being rushed by a really rude«security» I’ve spent all day trying to find it. I even went back there to check the only 3 bars I check out last night and no one seemed to have found it. The bartender there today was so mean and unprofessional when all I was doing was trying to back track my steps like a normal person would do if they lost something valuable. Anyways, if anyone finds it, I’d appreciate it if someone kindly returns it. I would do the same honestly. God bless to whomever has it. Hope they do the write thing.

Fun little beer bar if you want to get away from the mess that is DT Oceanside. Staff is cool. The patrons were pretty funny and nice to everyone. The band was bustin out Alice in Chains and sounded pretty good. Beer selection was good; very SD brewery heavy. Fun place

Just want to add, the aforementioned dog is a service dog, NOT a «therapy dog» or «emotional support animal.» The guy at the door was an idiot and was acting in defiance of federal law. I’m surprised the management didn’t comment. I will not support this business; it looked dirty and boring anyways.

Cool spot with great music. Only wine and beer there though. And honestly the whole peanuts on the floor thing is overplayed as cool. Not my thing. Door guy was great gave me advice about where to watch mayweather pacquiao fight, and some bars in the local area.

This is a good dive bar. No more — no less. 80% of the staff is quite nice — very friendly with good stories. A few bad apples have completely ruined nights for people I know, however. Solid beer selection for a dive, with rotating specials. The last time I was there, Oceanside Ale Works sour was on special for $ 3.50. I think it was a Blonde the last time I was there, but I cannot recall. There is ample seating amongst the peanut shells. Two pool tables are available, as well, but I have not used them. I’ve only ever been here for shows, prices ranging from $ 5 – 10. There is a closed circuit tv above the stage area so that everyone in the bar can see the bands. I think this is a rad touch. Plenty of parking in a lot across the street. I like the open window atmosphere of the bar. It’s a nice touch. Overall, I’m a fan, but I know many who are hesitant to go there. I play by the«just be super friendly to everyone» card and I’ve never had an issue.

You can’t beat Pier View Pub! Excellent beer selection, awesome staff, and solid band booking. Pier View is practically on the beach. Get there early to find prime free or cheap parking(just goes with the territory).

I went in to use the bathroom. As I walked in the bartender(a small man, with small man syndrome I would discover), asked me quite directly what type beer I wanted. I said, «first I need to go to the bathroom». I barely got the words out of my mouth and he was shaking his head no. «You need to buy a beer», he said. I said,” well I won’t right now, but when I return,(from the bathroom and/or quick walk on the pier to shoot a couple pics), he again was shaking his head no. Then said, «I hear that a lot». So, he was assuming I was a liar I guess. I guess he’s used to people wanting to relieve themselves before sitting down, or even knowing if they will or not. SO, he jumps the gun on the issue immediately. This is not a welcoming scenario. He had 3 customers in there at the time, and one guy smoking, halfway out the door. The place smelled of something rotten. I was dismayed to say the least, so I headed for the door in disbelief. I stopped and turned around, and said«I am not buying a beer or anything else here, ever.» Ever ! So, he jumped into high gear and whisked his way over to me,(leaving from behind the bar),(I have one foot out the door) and went right to my face and said, «listen, I am going to explain something to you». This was a direct confrontational move, designed to see how I would react. I said, «I know, you probably have bums come in here and use the bathroom and buy nothing». He said,” no I don’t let bums in here either”. I couldn’t believe what was happening. I had to decide to attack first, as I thought this was his next move, or walk away.(the guy in the door may have been his crony, and he was at my back now, so I started walking). «This is Private Property he says. As I was walking away he said something like, «that’s what I thought». I couldn’t believe this was happening. What kind of business man is this? I returned, with«what a punk». Next, he’s calling me back. «Get back here he says» .WTF? He does… want to fight. As I said, there was 3 people in there. Now I know why. The smell, and the attitude, and the nerve of such a pathetic operator. I think it may be his place, or he’s just one stupid, stupid manager bartender or something. I can see why all the bad reviews previous to this. I would suggest you go to a class joint right across the street at the Wyndham if you want to relax and have a drink. Or better yet, do what I ended up doing and going to the end of the pier, for the view, and relax at Ruby’s Diner, with a burger and beer. Don’t patronize some«punk run» crappy bar. I will surely tell everyone I know to stay away. That’s about 150 motorcyclists, and maybe 10 friends in cars, who will probably tell that to their friends. I am sure this place will not last with whoever this little turd is in there bartending. Check all previous reviews on the drinks etc. Bad Business. Who chases a guy with money right out the street, just to show the sleaze at the bar, that he’s in charge? A complete idiot, that’s who. P. S. I am 57 Y.O. well dressed, employed, and just told my wife, «I’ll go to the bathroom, check it out, and we can come back and sit for a drink, after we take our picture on the pier».

Typical dive bar! However they seem to be a little bit better for one they have quite a few different beers on tap! 2 pool tables and the best thing about this place they had a sound guy tonight who actually seemed to care about his job and try to make the bands sound as best as they could! The bar service though wasn’t soo great it took a little too long to get our drinks. With that said It’s not very often that I visit the Oceanside bar scene but this seems like its one of the better dives down here plus they have live music and that’s what’s good! Might be back someday if we have another show here!

This place is full of drunk people… hahaha! Seriously though, I probably shouldn’t be in here on a Sunday. It’s poppin’ though. The pool tables have been put to use. The bumpers on them tell stories of aggressive shooters and leaners. My friend Sarah work here and does a good job of whatever it is bartenders do. Oh, yeah. There’s roasted penuts on the counters, therefore shells on the ground. I’m a big fan of stickers so this place really does it for me. There’s food spots everywhere too so now it’s time to eat.

We stopped in here yesterday for a quick pint of beer before we headed over to Escondido. Classic dive bar with great computer jukebox. Peanuts on the floor plenty of beer-on-tap options I counted 3 pool tables and a view of the Ocean and enough windows for a nice breeze coming through. Prices were perfect! Vibe was extremely kick-back and it felt like a local hang-out. Respectfully Reviewed
