Preferred Pools Inc

PLEASE READ. I met with Todd from Preferred Pools Inc. He came to my house to review my pool project. I needed to do some major construction including all new plumbing (which consisted of taking up all of the brickwork I have around the pool), new coping, new tiling, etc. Todd was very kind, likeable, and essentially earned my trust after our initial meeting. He estimated that this project would take 3 weeks. We planned to start at the end of the spring before pool season in New York. At the end of our meeting he provided me with 3 other business cards from other businesses that he had. This should have been my first sign that I was dealing with someone too busy for their own good. We ended up starting our project 2 weeks later than expected because Todd was busy. After week 1 my entire backyard was demo’d and my down payment on the project was already paid for. Then Todd and his guys disappeared. I called and emailed Todd everyday for 2 weeks. I called the main office and left messages for Todd. The woman who answered the phone always said I’ll have him call you when he gets in, you just missed him, he’s on the other line, etc. I spoke with one of the managers/​owners and he explained that they don’t know about each other’s projects. The only guy that could help me was Todd. Our backyard was a complete mess and was completely unusable. Pavers were gone, trenches were dug, dirt, concrete, sand, rocks everywhere. Finally after 2 weeks Todd resurfaced and apologized for his absence. We are now at the beginning of June. After starting 2 weeks late, 1 week of work and 2 weeks of no shows we were now into summer pool season. He was busy and then he went away, etc. he assured me that everything would be done within 2 weeks. For the next 2 MONTHS, everyday there was usually 1 person showing up at my house to do this tremendous project or no one would show at all. Baby steps were made each week. I had to call or email Todd everyday to beg him to send more guys to my house to complete the project. Each person that would show up would complain about working for Todd and would explain that my project was impossible to complete without more workers. They explained that Todd took on many projects at the same time and workers were sent to other sites. My 3 week project took over 2 and a half months. My pool was done by mid-​July when the original completion date was estimated to have been before Memorial Day. This was the most stressful experience having to deal with this company. They essentially had me by the balls the entire time and it was impossible to find another pool company to take over someone’s project especially in the middle of pool season. I urge everyone who reads this review NEVER to work with this company. For over 2 and a half months all I heard was tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow. Please do yourself a favor and choose a different company.
