Western Dental

I went last Saturday and everyone was really nice. The office is clean. The Dr’s and MA’s work well together to give the best experience possible. I plan to take my son there within the next month. :)

Awesome place for mouth care! Caring, super friendly and professional staff. Evelyn is the payment plan Guru… she will hooked you up!!! So, get over there and get your mouth straight, you won’t be disappointed.

Dr Ngyuen does excellent work! I went to him in 2014 and in 2016 (recently) and had a root canal one time and two extractions and a root canal another time. (NO PAIN!!!)
Dr. Tran makes beautiful crowns too! Gals up front are very nice and the Office Manager
is very professional. I don’t know why all of these reviews are on here for alot of pain
other patients complain about. ZERO PAIN!

My review is based on today’s visit. I am giving them a 5 star because of their customer service. As soon as I walked in, the girl in the ortho check-​in desk was very nice. She got me checked in and I was called in right away. I met with Ruby (she is a patient care coordinator)
She was very nice, she checked up on me through out my whole visit. It was the first time I went alone to the dentist without my momma (I’m 22). So she made me feel comfortable, and she seemed genuinely interested in how I was feeling. The first dentist I saw was an Asian man, he also seemed genuinely nice. I then saw a lady who did my X-​rays and then another dentist (an Asian lady). They were ok too. So I have to say, Ruby and the first Dentist were great. 2 thumbs up for them. I can tell they are trying to work on their customer service because of all the negative reviews on here. I enjoyed my visit and will be visiting again.

Worst dental experience ever! My appointment was at 9:45 today and every patient in the room was called in before me. They finally call me in 50 minutes later. I get a couple of x rays done and then I am told to sit and wait because they are short on dentists. So I wait about 25 minutes and after that, I just walked out. I told the receptionists that I will never be coming here again. You guys SUCK! Thank you for wasting my time I really hope Western Dental gets put out of business I don’t even understand why they are still in business.

Dr. Tran at Western Dental is a life savor! I was seeing Dr. Nyguen at first and
was extremely happy with but when he was unavailable and I needed an extraction
Dr. Tran to the rescue! I was very anxious and scared but Dr. Tran did such a great
job I barely knew he removed it! His fingers were like feathers and he was very gentle
yet got the job done. I can’t forget to mention the staff because they showed such teamwork
and although they were über busy everybody seemed to be upbeat and had a smile on their face. Turns out I needed more dental work that I thought and have been going to this
Western Dental for all of my procedures. I am very happy I have stayed with these dentists
for they make going to the dentist not such a scary thing.

Stay away if you don’t want to get ripped off. They will force you to do expensive procedures that you don’t need and tell you they can’t do other work if you don’t get there expensive work done. We have been to several dentist in North County and by far they are the worst. After a few visits we found them to be among the most aggressive at forcing unwanted procedures on you. They will tell you that they can not treat you if you don’t do what they «recommend». My wife was in there for 4 ½ hours; should have been 1 hour Max.
To many good «honest» dental practices out there, don’t go here. They are a bunch of shysters that will do anything to get your money.

I had an appointment at 2:00 for a deep clean.
I came at 1:50.
At 3:00 I got the chair and an exam which took around 10 minutes.
At 4:00 I had been still sitting in the chair, alone, waiting for someone to come back since they finished the exam. But NOBODY came.
Then I stood up and left, asking the front clerks not to charge my Insurance, saying that I was very disappointed. No body I saw at the front room said anything like «sorry» or «regret» to me. I forgot one thing: some clerk dared to ask if I would come back.
Lastly. It’s a great pity I hadn’t read any of the comments on this webpage before I made that appointment.

I made an appoint a few weeks ago as a new patient. When I arrived, I was told my insurance would not transfer until next month so I could not be seen during my scheduled appointment. I was confused as I made it very clear I was a new patient when I made the appointment. Turns out they waited until I was in the office to contact my insurance instead of when I made the appointment. I could not get an answer as to why this was something that was put off until I actually arrived at my appointment. I was very frustrated having wasted my time driving to western dental only to be told I had to come back next month. It was a waste of my time and a very frustrating and disappointing experience.

I’ve been going to this place for a year now, and I dread coming every single time I have an appointment. I got my braces through this place because we had just moved to the area and thought it was the only one around, however little did we know that there was another one a little more down the road. Wish we did, this place is awful. You wait FOREVER, to be called back. And then when you are finally called back you have to wait even longer for the orthodontist, there is only one poor guy to deal with sometimes more than five people. However, the people are nice super nice actually. But they have no idea how awful it is waiting constantly. And also while waiting in your chair to be seen by the orthodontist when you are finally seen they don’t even tell you what they are going to do!

Dont recamend. Me and my friend both had appointments today at 11am and hers for 11:30 am. We are both busy people and schedualed our whole day around this anyway more than an hour of waiting my friend gos to see whats going on, she says «how long is this going to take i might need to reschedule ». at that moment they call my name and my friend says” ohh nevermind ill be right after her right ?” And the lady says «ohh well i just deleted your appointment so now your at the bottom of the list.» … UHM HELLO IS THIS LADY INSANE ?! Anyways things got worse from there. Dirty, smells and just Dont go. Pay the money for a real dentist !

Came here at 2:05 pm. For my 2pm ortho appt and my 3pm appt for a dental appointment. I saw the ortho at 2:30. So I finished my appt with ortho at 3. But now its way passed 415pm and I still haven’t seen the dentist. This place is bad. I’m very disappointed with western dental. I’m never going to come here again unless I want to waste my time. Appt are meaningless. They can’t keep them. I don’t know why people come here? I’m originally from northern cal, I’m unfamiliar with this area.
I came here on after work and came to my appt. Receptionist asked if I can wait over an hour. She convinced me to come back another day. So I came back on the next day. I wasted over 3 hrs here. Didn’t see a dentist at all. 20 min commute here… Twice. So almost 5 hrs of my life wasted. Can this place get 0 or better yet, negative stars?
This is terrible place.

I came here to get my bottom wisdom teeth out the other day and I wasn’t very happy that they don’t put you under which is what I was told on the phone before this.
Anyways my dentist was pretty rough and didn’t seem to care about going gentle with the numbing (or anything) and was freaking me out from the beginning nor did he attempt to calm me down considering I was crying and shaking the entire time because I was so scared for him to touch my teeth, on top of having to get numbed at least 4 extra times because i was in so much pain.
But Michael (the assistant helping, 5 stars and above) has got to be the nicest, most positive person I have ever met in a dentist office. He was so sweet to me the entire time and tried calming me asking how I was doing any chance he got when he saw I was very uncomfortable. He kept telling me how great I was doing the entire time (which I knew I wasn’t being very easy) and honestly if he wasn’t there I probably would have had a freak out attack. So glad he was there with me through the worst experience of my life making it a little bit easier. Big thank you to him!

What a refreshing contrast to our nightmare at the San Macros office. The staff here are very friendly, knowledgeable and competent. We were leery at first, but it took no time at all to see it was a completely different experience. The entire staff from reception, the dental assistants and the dentist are wonderful. This Dr (I do not know his name) is a Rock star! He is very smart, caring and hard working. He takes care of multiple patients simultaneously with expert precision. He also does it with a smile and a wonderful attitude. This office is impressive. Corporate should recognize this office and set this as a standard for all offices. Thank you Oceanside!!!

Major attitude when I walked in. It stinks and I should have checked Unilocal before I drove out here. The only thing that could make it worth the visit is if their fees are reasonable. Will update this review afterwards.

I took my daughter to Western Dental for the first time to get a root canal. I had insurance and presented my card to them at time of check in.
45 minutes after my appointment time (and I was 20 minutes early) they took my daughter back to see the doctor as I waited in the lobby.
An hour later I was still waiting without anyone coming out to tell me what was going on or to discuss the costs or procedure so I had to ask to go check on her. so 2 hours I was waiting and when I went to check on her, the billing lady said that they were trying to get my insurance company to agree to the treatments and had finally received authorization.
The total amount of work to be completed came to $ 3000 and I was told my insurance would pay half of that amount, so I agreed to move forward.
I waited another 2 hours for them to complete the root canal only to be told that she needed a follow up appointment to put on the crown. Don’t even get me started on THAT appointment.
Long story short, work was done, I paid in full my half of what the insurance didn’t cover and figured that was the end of it.
NOPE.
I got a bill from Western Dental for the amount the insurance company was supposed to cover. When I asked Western Dental staff how this could happen, she stated that she didn’t ask the right questions from my insurance company and had she asked the right questions, then she would have known that the proceedures were NOT covered and therefore, I would be responsible for the entire cost.
Of course, as I was disputing the additional $ 1500, they had their billing/​collection department calling me ever few hours demanding payment.
So I resigned myself to paying the remainder and swore I would never deal with Western Dental again.
Of course now I get my monthly bill and the very next day I start getting the billing/​collection calls. I tell them every time that I JUST got the bill yesterday and put the check in the mail that day and they will call me every day until the check clears.
I pray for you if Western Dental is your only option for Dental Care. I would rather get a root canal from WAL MART than go back to this place.

Wow! This place takes my private insurance and also takes MediCal. The staff were curt, had copies of forms I couldn’t read they were copied so much. The dentist looked in my mouth for 5 seconds. He was Vietnamese and asked me if I was happy, didn’t wait for me to respond and that was it for my exam, even though I know I have gum recession and tooth pain. He did nothing to investigate it. Tooth cleaning was ok. I won’t return.

had an appointment at 3:00 to be seen till 4pm. than took x-​rays, then finally to chair.& another wait for docter to see me which there told me I need fillings that was going to take 40min or more, by then I was starving & headache. I had to reshedule. Thank goodness she offered! will see how that appointment willl go. with so many chairs It was musical chair day mostly.
The only thing they are good at is reminding you that you have an appointment.

Best dentist I have EVER been to. I will be honest, I was nervous about going here after reading the previous reviews. I’ve had my share of bad experiences at the dentist. Dirty environments, long waits, incompetent employees, etc. However, given that I had a dental emergency (I broke my 2 front teeth) I was open to checking out several dentists with different financing options. I made a consultation appointment with a very friendly, helpful receptionist for the same day (only an hour later).
When I arrived, I walked into a clean office where I was happily greeted by the staff at the front desk. I had one girl in particular assisting me, and she was wonderful! And although she was primarily helping me with figuring out insurance, etc., the whole staff works together wonderfully.
To my pleasant surprise, my medi-​cal covered my consultation and will continue to cover my visits there.
Medi-​cal doesn’t cover crowns though, as most people know. Like I mentioned, I broke my two FRONT teeth so time was of the essence. However, I am not the richest person, so naturally I was worried about the cost. Evelyn ended up working out a totally affordable finance plan for me. They really will work with you!
I went in this morning, got seen right away, and now have my temporary caps in. The dentist and the dental assistants are all so kind and attentive!
I work in the service industry myself, as a server, so I definitely know when I’m being well taken care of. Seriously the best dental experience I’ve ever had. Please ignore the other reviews! You won’t regret it!

I should have checked Unilocal before coming to this crap hole.
*Staff is ignorant
*Paperwork is redundant, poorly photocopied, and «requires» acceptance of documents they don’t supply the patient.
*My 1:45p appointment time was apparently just a suggestion.
Don’t go here… no matter what your urgency is or who your insurance provider is.
