This place was beautiful, clean, totally relaxing. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The Crews Inn was my first B&B experience and it definitely did not disappoint. The overall atmosphere of the Inn was very old southern charm. The wraparound porch, complete with swing and rocking chairs was so idyllic. We stayed in Danny’s Room(all rooms have names) which shared a bathroom. We didn’t run into the other set of innmates once, so sharing wasn’t a big deal for us. The room was small, but perfectly adequate, and the bed was very comfortable. We read on Trip Advisor that the breakfasts left a bit to be desired. The first morning we had amazing from scratch Belgian waffles with bananas and caramel sauce. The second morning he poached us some eggs to order, with toast and orange slices. There was also coffee and juice, and there was another woman staying that had Celiac, and they were very accommodating to her, making her eggs or yogurt parfaits instead of what was made for others. I guess other folks expect a smörgåsbord, but for us, the homemade items we had were delicious and totally sufficient. The location was also outstanding. Literally right across the way from what became our favorite restaurant on the island, Dajio. We learned that the innkeepers stay on year to year basis, so the folks we had might not be yours. But Sarah and Mark were very hospitable.

What a gem! It’s as if you’d checked into the charming country cottage you never had! Crews Inn is picture perfect and Jessica, the Inn Keeper, is a sweetheart. And, we paid only $ 65/night, which is inconceivable considering how clean, comfortable, and beautiful our room was. Don’t miss the homemade granola and muffins are served for breakfast.

The map in the lobby showing where the visitors have come from says everything about this place. People come from everywhere, yet when they arrive, they feel like they never left home. It was a quiet getaway where you never felt like other people were around. The exception to this is the breakfast which was very communal and the host was full of stories about Ocracoke’s history. There were freshly baked muffins almost every morning. At $ 80 a night during peak season, you shouldn’t look anywhere else for a laid-back stay. Also to note: The owner wrote the book, Ocracokers, that gives a history of the island and people. I want to pick it up because all proceeds go to Ocracoke School for literature books.
