History

Established in 1927.

There has been a hotel at 2510 Washington Blvd. since before 1891. In 1891 the five story Reed Hotel occupied 2510 Washington Blvd. Then in 1927 the Reed Hotel was razed and the Bigelow hotel was built on its foundation. Hodgson and McClenehan is the design firm responsible for the hotel’s beautiful architecture. The hotel currently has the same basic shape as the Bigelow did. In 1933 a penthouse was added to the Bigelow and the name was changed to the Ben Lomond Hotel. Then in the 1980s the hotel went through a complete remodel. The 300+ room hotel was changed to 120+ suites and rebranded a Radisson. The suites were completely modernized, but the lobby and the event spaces maintain much of their historic beauty. The hotel was renamed the Ben Lomond in the 1990s. Ben Lomond Suites is listed on the national and state register of historic places.
