Tapas and Tinis

So my four stars is for a happy hour experience as I have not eaten dinner here yet. I had the wings and guacamole which were great. The real reason I always stop in here are the martinis and mojitos. They use real fruit purée in them and I just love ‘em! My servers are always so nice and attentive and when I have wanted to sit out on a cooler evening, they ask if I want to desk heaters on. It’s definitely easy to slip through a few cocktails each visit.

I do not even want to give this place a star, we had a horrible meal here. We ordered over 10 dishes and almost every one was nasty. I have been going to Ogunquit me entire life and in 34 years this is the worst experience I have ever had their.
When I told the owner about about my uneatable, chewy and spoiled steak he said he would go back to kitchen and find out what happened. He came back saying it was just cut today and there was nothing wrong with it. Which from what I read is something he has done many times with others.
He was arrogant and just plain rude, They did not even take the steak off our bill even though we sent it back. Our service was also terrible. Don’t eat here under any circumstance.

Slow service, terrible food. Enough said!

My husband and I recently returned from a trip to Ogunquit. We had heard of Tapas and Tinis and I was anxious to try it out as I love martinis and a good one is hard to come by. I was not disappointed — we went here twice while there and I tried the Lemonade Stand, the Pomegranate Martini, the Appletini and a Strawberry/​Kiwi Martini (this was on special one night). They were all fantastic. My husband is also a beer drinker but branched out to try their rum punch and the margarita and he was very happy with both.
We never had dinner here but did order the guacamole with homemade pita chips one night and the calamari the other night. The guac was tasty and had some good chunks of avocado but could have used some more flavor. The pita chips were delish. The calamari was soggy and a bit rubbery. Most of the other dishes that passed by us looked very good and promising. The presentation on the drinks and food was simple but elegant.
We sat outside as I was insistent on getting fresh air. We quickly realized that the road is super busy… the loud motorcycles and tractor trailer trucks drowned out our conversation at times and made the air «not so fresh».
So, we would give it 5 stars for the amazing drinks but had to take a star off as the food could be better. This is a great place to start the evening and maybe get a quick snack but head somewhere with a nice view for dinner.

Ate there Saturday night. Seats available at 7:30pm when most other places were packed. The menu looked interesting because a number of seemingly ‘vegetarian” dishes. Unfortunately, the chef seems to have been trained at the ‘everything is better in butter’ school. The ‘Fresh Asparagus in Lemon Juice” … butter. The ‘sauteed mushrooms with garlic’ … butter. The white bean dip and guacamole bland and served with ‘pita’ that was apparently fried in, you guessed it, butter. Very disappointing esp since the menu offered so much promise.

We visited this restaurant on a recent vacation to Maine. It was among the best meals we had that week.
We started off with drinks — a martini & a mojito. I liked my martini — husband thought the mojito was just OK.
Our first 2 tapas plates — crostini & spanish meatballs — I give the crostini a B– and the meatballs an A-​.
Our second two were grilled corn with garlic aioli & mancheco cheese (A-​) and grilled steak kebobs (A).
All in all, a tasty meal at a good price.
The view of the traffic from the deck leaves something to be desired but that is obviously beyond their control.

We love this place! The food was delicious, the drinks terrific, and the staff friendly and attentive. Definitely have the grilled corn on the cob with manchego cheese. Parking is problematic because it’s in Ogunquit, but that’s the only downside of being here.

To look on the bright side first, none of us was stricken with food poisoning. The food was so-​so — some tasty dishes and many rather flavorless ones.
We were seated immediately, but the waitstaff neglected to inform us that there would be a 45 minute wait for any food coming out of the kitchen until after we were seated, we had been served drinks, and our food orders had been taken. We asked for small pieces of bread to tide us over (we were hungry) and they told us that it would be an impossibility. Because were so hungry, we had to eat some snacks that one of us had in her purse. The manager yelled at us for this, and asked why we hadn’t ordered any appetizers. We all yelled back that we had, in fact, asked the waitress if we could order ANYTHING. He then calmed down and brought us two orders of bean dip, only one of which was complimentary. ugh.
We were finally served half of our tapas, but the people who ordered sandwiches weren’t served for another 20 minutes. THEN, the server asked us if we still wanted a few of the other tapas we had ordered an hour before, so she would know whether or not to «put the order into the kitchen.»
Anyway, we can’t recommend this place. The manager was apologetic in the end and did bring us the bean dips sooner than they would have if we hadn’t complained. They tried to make the situation better for us, but it wasn’t quite enough.

fast strong and aromatic drinks and good loud music! a hip environment in an otherwise seasonal retirement country. this is a Tapas and Martini bar people! that means no dinner plates, small bites only. also, after reading the other reviews i have to ask, who orders wine at a martini bar? I suggest the Bloody Mary with baby mozzarella or the Cucumber Martini, the two best drinks in the house, by my tastes at least. order one tapas per 15 min. this is a place to squander time and enjoy the beautiful vine-​draped all season porch. what else is there to do in Ogunquit, right?

This is our new favorite place in Ogunquit. Always refreshing seeing a new business spring up and I hope it does well — like someone else pointed out, they are ironing out some kinks, but nothing major. The owner was very friendly. We went for lunch and for happy hour on different days, had two different waitresses, who were pleasant (and cute) and the owner came over to us on both occasions, made suggestions, asked if everything was alright, etc. We tried different tapas — the mussels were excellent, as were the tomatoes and mozarella balls, the spinach dip — the guac dip wasn’t great (I probably won’t get it again), the mushrooms and the spicy tiger-​shrimp were excellent. We sat outside both times, drank mojitos and pitchers of sangria. There looks like a funky, jazzy lounge upstairs, so maybe next year we will try it out for the nightlife.

My husband and I were looking forward to sharing tapas close to home. The gentleman who sat us at our table was unpleasant and surly. At least our young waitress seemed relatively pleasant at first. We ordered five tapas dishes to share– mushrooms, tomatoes and mozarella balls, calamari, ribs, and mussels. Four of the dishes were OK, however, the mussels smelled funny and tasted worse. When the waitress came over to check on how we were doing, we told her that there was a problem with the mussels and we asked her to please take them away. A few minutes latter she came back with the mussels and the“gentleman” who orginally sat us, who turned out to be the OWNER. In his rude and surley manner he confronted us and told us that the mussels were fresh today and he had his chef taste one of our mussels and the chef told him that there was nothing wrong with the mussels! We explained to him that we eat mussels out all the time and there was definately something wrong with them. Latter, when the waitress returned with our check, the mussels were still on the check. I told the waitress that she might want to tell the owner that they had lost a new customer and she said that at least 15 or 16 other people had ordered the mussels and had not complained. What ever happened to good customer service???

The wine selection is pretty small but there are some good ones on the list. The tapas could have been better. We ordered the meatballs, they were dry and small without much flavoring other then the tomatoe paste they showed up with. We also ordered the peppers with capers. Also something I would not order again. Good variety of space though– outside seating available or an upstairs lounge type vibe.

I was happy to see something different in town this year and it was a welcomed change. I enjoyed the daily tapenade (ours was a tomato, feta, roasted corn concoction) and the ribs were melting of the bone. I was a little disappointed in chicken satay. The only complaint was that most of the sauces did not have a punch to them that you expect from tapas. The tinis were not bad — we had two and they were not nearly cold enough.

The server came around quickly to take our drink orders, which arrived soon thereafter (house sangria and iced tea). The wine was tasty. We
then placed our dinner order, which arrived ~ 45 minutes later. We ordered a variety of Tapas from the menu (no dinner platters). The waiter, bartender, and chef came around multiple times to apologize for the delay, stating all dishes were made to order. One of the waiters mentioned that they had a very small kitchen and were quite busy. The waitress came over about 5 times to see if we needed more drinks (we asked for a complimentary round to tide us over but were refused). The servers didn’t bring any bread etc. for us to munch on while waiting (they didn’t seem to have any offerings).
The Tapas were OK, the best was the crostini with goat cheese and caramelized onions. We had hummus (good but bread was stale), guacamole (runny, stale bread), white bean dip (bland, you know about the bread) along with pork tenderloin (good), salmon kebabs (tasty) and chicken satay (bland). We made the fatal mistake of ordering a few more Tapas and waited at least another half hour. Overall, it took more than two hours to get our meal and check. They even asked if we wanted dessert (uhhh, no thanks). I can’t believe that the dips were actually made to order so they could have been brought up beforehand while waiting for the other dishes.
It’s a good addition to the area but a very poor business model especially if you have to wait 45 minutes (or longer) to get your appetizers. This place has great potential but needs to quickly get their act together if they want to survive the competitive marketplace. There’s not many restaurants where I would wait two hours to get my food, and this isn’t one of them. If in the Boston area, check out Solea (Waltham) or Dali (Somerville) for good Tapas and excellent service.
On the plus side, the people were very nice and they seem to have a very lively nightlife.

A welcome new addition to the Ogunquit dining scene — Tapas and Tinis takes us away from the traditional New England feel of most of the local eateries and offers a distinct urban vibe. The Ultra Lounge on the top floor is perfect for sprawling out on the comfy sofas and conversing with your buddies over a delicious beverage.
The service varies… I have been 3 times and 2 out of the 3 it was excellent. The food is good and a welcome change to the hearty seafood typically found along coastal Maine. For those of us from the cities, it is a welcome change.
