History

Established in 2013.

It has been a long time dream to run our home as a vacation retreat.

I spend most of my time traveling, so I understand the needs of a traveler. I have also learned how important it is to have a sweet place to retreat to, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

While traveling, I always seek out comfortable places, especially with an environmental conscience. It seems natural to extend our comfortable place with an environmental conscience to others.

Mark B.

Business Owner

Clown since three years old, and seventh generation fortune teller. Mark is the host and co-​producer of New Fangled Opry and works with a variety of groups, including L’Unkles Boink, Insomniac Events, and The Do Lab. With years of professional experience, Mark is a performer, producer, promoter, airbrusher, welder, builder, rigger, fire safety technician, herbalist, elixir maker, healer, saw player, consultant, heyoka, yoga teacher, and more.

With Mark traveling the world and his beautiful daughter Maeha in college, this family has decided to share their home with travelers and people looking to retreat to the delightful Ojai Valley.

Mark and Maeha love to spend time home at Meiners Oaks Retreat whenever possible.

Home away from home! This place is the coziest nook I have yet to experience in a retreat. Super clean and well-​kept. Walking distance to Ojai hot spots like Farmer & Cook and the Deer Lodge. Meiners Oaks Retreat beats any hotel or hostel by a long shot. Extremely comfortable, bed, private outdoor shower, hot tub, full kitchen with everything you’ll need, washer/​dryer, fantastic bohemian vibe… I stayed there while making a record and I can’t imagine a more suitable spot, whether you’re seeking inspiration for a creative project or simply looking for an escape from the city without having to sacrifice convenience. I wouldn’t recommend any other place in Ojai to stay. It’s got the vibe of a magical woodsy hideout, but with the cleanliness and comfort of a top-​notch hotel. What are you waiting for???

Amazing. Through and Through.
This is a bohemian beautiful getaway for artists and business men alike! I stayed here whilst recording an album in Ojai and it was the perfect retreat home to restore and rejuvenate creatively and in the heart.
Free WiFi throughout the property.
Wood cabins that are private and cozy.
Outdoor shower that is clean and hidden enough so it is your own personal space.
Outdoor jacuzzi is simply lovely.
Filtered water.
A kitchen complete with refrigerator, pots, pans, silverware if you rent out the main house.
Clean super cozy beds. probably enough for as many as 15 people to stay at one time.
Plenty of outdoor space to relax and write.
Removed enough from city yet close enough to walk to healthy café/​restaurants and local bars.
This is a complete retreat oasis for anyone needing a vacation or perfect for having focused time to work on solo creative projects or ideas.
The owners are incredibly accommodating and friendly. I could easily live here for a month or longer!

What a fantastic, magical getaway we had at this artsy and community-​oriented abode in Ojai. It was the perfect place to rejuvenate, celebrate, and enjoy time with friends and family.
A few favorite aspects:
— the beds: so comfy, bamboo memory foam… we slept like babies
— the kitchen and breakfast nook: great space for entertaining, morning tea, and just hanging out
— the outdoor showers/​tub: need I say more about that?
— décor: upcycled, artsy, functional (and chandeliers hanging from the trees)
— fruit trees — mulberries, lemons, plums, figs…
— the chicken — I love to compost and I love chickens, this was definitely a highlight
— convenience — short walk to the cute downtown area of meiners oaks
— bikes: we loved taking these out for a ride into Ojai
— community: we loved hanging with the other guests and the on-​site caretaker Daz.
We discovered so many community/​friendship connections with her and Mark (the owner). We also got to chat with him a bit and learn more about the town and how the house came together.
Overall if you are looking for a vacation in Ojai, this is a great spot to make you feel like you’re right at home… and might even make you want to move there!

Meiners Oaks is just what the soul doctor ordered! This space is quaint, cozy, touching, and incredibly relaxing. It has the feel of home without the stresses of life.
A hot tub, an outdoor bathroom, a fire pit, comfortable bedding, a wonderfully stylish kitchen and of course the soothing sounds of nature. I would certainly come back again and again.

Meiners Oaks Retreat is a magically soothing place to take your retreat at. Many beautiful little nooks and crannies to unwind from the hustle and bustle of the city and soothe yourself back to humanity. This eclectic place has numerous little discoveries of beautiful art peppered throughout. Take a relaxing bath in the super long clawfoot bathtub surrounded by Bamboo and then rock yourself into enjoying a restful nap in the Quan Yin hammock. Then play a tune on the piano. Enjoy a fire in the woodstove. Prepare a delicious meal in the huge kitchen. There is a hot tub, outdoor showers, many bathrooms. Perfectly arranged for groups to enjoy each others company and still find quiet time alone away from the group. The cabin is great for a good rest or a romantic getaway. Loved the woodsy scent! Truly a delight to take some time for yourself and enjoy with others. I highly recommend you treat yourself to Meiners Oaks Retreat! So Wonderful!!≠)

This is one of the cutest places to stay in Ojai. Very close to many neat shops, walking distance to food, bars, yoga, thai chi, restaurants, and more.
The little unique cabins are all different and adorable. I love how the house is really cute and every room is a different bright color. Great for a retreat for groups of 10 or so. Also great to finish writing your book in the cabin. The smell of the wood makes you feel at home.

This darling Three Bears Cottage was just what my soul was craving! Sweet, cozy, quiet, beautiful lighting– had the most relaxing sleeps of my life here– would strongly recomend this lovely and charming getaway hidden away in Ojai — thumbs up~

So wonderful and Vary relaxing truly a home away from home, doesn’t get any cozier this this, if you have a good book bring it!
Ojai is one nice little big town with tasty restaurants cute shopping woundres views… also prim accesses to one of Ojai’s greatest secrets ;)
