Still have yet to receive my monthly statement. Only receive ONE out of the 6 months I’ve had an account. Is this how we get people to pay the finance charges? By not letting them know when and what is due for the month? Never received the extended warranty information on the bed/​boxspring I purchased in OCTOBER either.
Went in a few weeks ago to use a «gift card» due to making my initial purchase. After finding a lamp we liked, we were told to go downstairs and wait in the cluster trying to pay for our purchase (no dedicated lines in this place, just a free for all at the cashiers). Waited for 45 MINUTES after paying to be told we can pick up our lamp. Go outside, wait 15 minutes before being helped to be given a BROKEN lamp off the floor. Had I have known this I could have walked out the door with the lamp rather than wait 60 minutes for it. Why can’t ya’ll just do a carry-​out option for small items? Manager’s response was less than helpful. No apologies whatsoever, just a «what’s your name and I’ll send you a gift card» (which was never received).

After dropping over $ 2000 in their store on a bed, the Mathis Brothers customer service has been horrible. The delivery men showed up with a bent foot-​board plus a dirty and ripped mattress cover I purchased new. The delivery men had the nerve to act irritated and put out with me. Instead of solving the problem immediately, I was forced deal with about five different customer service employees to reschedule. This included about 10 calls total. The problem is still not fixed. I have had a pile of wooden boards, bed rails, a foot-​board, a mattress and box springs in a pile within my bedroom for the last week. It has been extremely frustrating! I would not recommend shopping with this company.

It is what it is, yes, even when you arrive for Christmas presents the commission only salespeople are right there to assist you find the gifts section or purchase furniture. The commission only situation and Mathis Brothers in general has its pros and cons…
PROS:
The salespeople are motivated to help you find exactly what you want!
They are motivated to sell hence they are motivated to be very knowledgable about all the furniture
The salespeople will check on special order possibilities, warranty rules, special pricing, etc etc etc
They will go get you drinks or food
They will set up your pickup or delivery while you wait
I feel the commission only environment has created motivated salespeople hence success for the company which means best selection AND pricing in ALL OF OKLAHOMA.
It can be fun to prank them and as you walk in and they ask you what you’re needing to buy, tell them you just purchased a 5,000 SF home and you need to furnish the entire home… in the next hour
The Christmas gifts they offer are great, good selection, awesome pricing, well stocked, and you can also stock up for birthday gifts as well!
CONS
They will follow you all around but eventually you can tell them to give you some privacy to talk or decide
If you let them, they can make you feel uncomfortable (DON’T LET THEM)
BIG TIPS–
Take your smart phone, get on their WIFI, and you can comparison shop as you look at their selection.
They have a bargain area for even better savings, some just on clearance, some slightly damaged.
Great parking, great selection, great pricing, great restrooms, great café, food, drinks, very courteous staff, great warranty service to fix virtually any type of furniture or replace it. Can the commission only help be annoying? Only if you allow it to. I personally don’t mind it.

I will admit that purchasing at Mathis Brothers is not like buying a house as compared to other furniture stores however the promise for delivery was very short of expectations promised delivery on Friday became unscheduled for a delivery on Sunday the agent misspoke and let us to false expectations. That is what made a shopping experience negative for me. The sales person basically lied to me, and her manager backed the lie. It will be a long time before I spend money there again!

Great selection of all different price points of furniture but unfortunately you can’t really look and make choices because you are stalked from the moment you enter the store. I told the sales woman atleast 3 times we were from out of town and just looking. She obviously didn’t listen or understand and followed us the entire time and tried to talk to us about random stuff. Very awkward and uncomfortable experience and we won’t go back to buy or look ever!

This company has good furniture, unfortunately for them customer service is far more important. My experience with this company was not a good one. I had multiple deliveries before I got all my furniture (a month in total), I was charged a holding fee I was not aware off until after the fact, I wanted to return an item but couldn’t d/​t a one week return policy (I’d only had it for two). This is a short and sweet way to sum it up, I honestly could say a lot worse. If you plan on shopping here read the fine print!

So we just moved to OKC from No. CA. Needs some new pieces of furniture for the new house. Heard about Mathis Brothers on TV, and saw some print ads in the paper.

Like many others said previously: fantastic, huge (I mean HUGE) selection of quality brand furniture for every possible style and room in your home. HOWEVER, you cannot browse… one previous reviewer put it best by saying there is a difference between being STALKED and service. Our sales gal was very nice but stuck to us like white on rice and when my husband did get separated, game on!, 3 sales people converged on him.
We got the desk I wanted and while walking through the clearance (our sales
Gal gave us a tour of the whole store) we found a sectional for a ridiculously low price that we couldn’t pass up (it would work in our new sunroom). Had some challenges with delivery: we picked the desk up that day and the sectional was to be delivered on Tuesday (didn’t get it till Wednesday and only because I called on Tuesday to find out the time… after being transferred 3 times found out no, not gonna get delivered till the next day because somebody didn’t mark the ticket correctly). Couch arrived Wednesday… kinda sad they sent a single driver to deliver a sectional… he was a bit concerned about getting it done but managed.
Overall, not the worst experience but not stellar either. I’ll go back only because the selection is so good and the prices are reasonable. Will definitely tell the salespeople to take a hike until I need them.

It took 4 months, but Mathis Brothers finally fixed my chair. Aidee Salas in customer service was a star. She kept every promise, followed the repair, and got the chair right back to me in like new condition.
Though I had issues with this purchase, I’m giving the store 4 stars because they finally came through for me and because we’ve purchased several items from them in the past and this is the first issue we’ve ever had.

It seems that I’m not the only person who has been quoted one price and later «asked» to pay a higher price. I thought that my experience was a one time thing, but it seems that the BBB and AG may want to have a look at Mathis Brothers business practices.
My experience echoes that of those below, though all was done via email. Formal quote given (twice) via email, and I accepted the last offer. My email, which received no reply from Mathis Brothers, is below. One note that isn’t captured in the email is that Mathis took payment, and THEN called back to indicate that they couldn’t uphold their price. Offer and acceptance surely occurred, but who wants to get into a legal battle over something seemingly so trivial?
[Salesperson], I just wanted to reach out to let you know how disappointed I am with Mathis Brothers. I was admittedly pleased with my first experience with Mathis, which is why I chose to reach out to Mathis first when looking for pricing on Bernhardt items, but this experience has simply shown that Mathis Brothers is not the retailer it represents itself to be. What I found was a low price guarantee that wasn’t really a guarantee at all, but instead was a marketing gimmick intended to lure potential customers in with the feeling that the value at Mathis is the highest. When confronted, however, with pricing from multiple sources that was lower than Mathis, Mathis relied on an arbitrary «radius» argument to deflect any responsibility for upholding the spirit of the guarantee. Yes, it’s in the fine print, but it’s sneaky at best and doesn’t reflect the fact that proximity to a store is irrelevant in today’s consumer market.
When there was something in Mathis’ arsenal that was the lowest price out of the bids that I received, I decided to make the purchase. I would be the beneficiary of fair pricing, Mathis would be the beneficiary of a sale to a customer who would continue to look to Mathis in the future. Only then was a «mistake» realized — mistakes, I understand, do happen — but now I’m in a position where it seems that the pricing wasn’t approved (after the fact) because I didn’t purchase everything for which I initially asked for pricing, or because Mathis wished to claw back some of the profit that it now regretting not receiving, perhaps hoping to rely on my emotional attachment to the purchase and acquiescing to Mathis’ demands.
Don’t get me wrong — you have been very helpful, and I appreciate you spending the time to answer my questions over the past few days. Mathis Brothers, however, does not look good here, and I’m very surprised that Mathis Brothers would not step up and honor the pricing that was agreed (as most honorable retailers do) with someone who has purchased thousands of dollars of furniture from Mathis in the very recent past, and who will clearly be buying more furniture in the not too distant future. The «right» thing to do here would be to fulfill the agreement that we made when Mathis made me an offer and I accepted — you said to me on the phone that the ball was in my court, but I disagree with that statement. The ball is in Mathis’ court — do right by a promise made, or lose not just a lifelong customer, but the many customers who may hear this story.

Rules to shopping at Mathis Bros.
1. Do NOT make eye contact with ANYONE wearing a sleazy jacket and tie. This will only encourage one of the wolf pack to stalk you.
2. Do NOT seem interested in ANYTHING in the store. This will only encourage one of the wolves to attack.
3. Do NOT try to count the amount of employees on the floor. This will leave you dizzy and prone to an attack.
4. Do NOT think that asking for a sign to wear around your neck stating «I don’t need help, until I ask for help» works. It doesn’t.
5. Do NOT sit on any furniture as tempting as it may seem. This only excites the wolves and gives them the opportunity to hover over you before you can run.
6. Do NOT think that telling the guy at the front, that was sitting in the guard/​watch tower, that «you are only looking» will stop him from following you across the entire store, up the escalators, across the room, trying to force a business card in your face, telling you to «respect him», after you tell him to leave you alone is acceptable. Because it absolutely isn’t.
What a day today at Mathis Bros. Black dude with dread locks follows my family across the entire store, up the escalators trying to put a business card in my face. I told him I would find him if I needed help, I’m only looking. Please. I’m only looking. I will find you or I will ask for someone to help. We’re ONLY LOOKING. He continues trying to tell me to respect him and take his card and gets pissed off at me because I wouldn’t take it. Get a grip you freak. I understand it’s not your fault that your employer FORCES you into a cannibalistic work culture by your ruthless commission pay. BUT LET US SHOP.
When will Mathis Bros realize that their competition is actually using this against them for their marketing. «Commission free» aka don’t shop at the land of the freaks that are moshing to get to the customers.
At any given time you can always expect that there are twice as many employees as there are customers. To some, that’s great, but for others who just want to come and find a piece of furniture or two and can’t shop in peace without someone telling you how soft this couch is and how great this would look in front of your tv at home… it’s a major turnoff and made us just finally leave.
We just bought a new house and had every intention of purchasing furniture today, but didn’t after the unbelievably bad experience.

The first time I purchased from Mathis brothers was in 2013. I loved it, actually. I didn’t feel rushed when I went in the OKC store to browse, and when I needed help, and was ready to cash out, someone was right there. The prices were reasonable, and my furniture was delivered in a sufficient timely manner with very friendly delivery guys.
I recently sold my furniture I purchased, because I was moving and wanted something new. I went to Mathis brothers a couple of weeks ago (April 2015) as a returning customer, with high expectations (since my last visit was very satisfying.) And oh boy, I felt like I was prey to a herd of vicious animals. I couldn’t walk anywhere without some desperate sales person stalking me, asking a ton of questions. All I wanted was a little room to be able to explore the variety of furniture. I actually had to pass through a group of salesmen to get to a couch that I spotted, and I felt like I was about to get attacked. It was very stressful, and I felt severely claustrophobic. I understand that they work off of commission, and it is their job to get furniture sold, but honestly, I felt harassed.
I finally got a bit of space after uncomfortably asking, literally, over 20 people to leave me alone. I was at the point of needing to check out, and I went up to a very polite man, Mr. James Braggs, (the only one who left me alone) and he helped me check out.
I decided to do the 90 day 0% interest plan (which I think sounded very convenient.) But what I found very disappointing was the lack of detail given to me about the payment process. I was told that you are able to pay over the phone (with a 3 $) charge, pay online, or pay in stores (which is very inconvenient to someone who lives about 40 minutes away.) So, I decided I will probably just pay over the phone.
Today, I went to pay on my account over the phone, and they told me they ONLY accept Visa. I am military, and have USAA, so I ONLY have a MasterCard. I asked if I was able to at least pay online, and they said no. To make it worse, I can’t even pay with my card at the store. I will have to pay with either a check, money order, or cash. I wish I honestly would’ve known about this before, or I would’ve just paid full price the day I bought my furniture. I am a young airmen, and was just looking for a way to build more credit, I didn’t think the payment methods would be this complicated.
So, if this all wasn’t enough, the delivery was probably the worst part. I was told that all of my furniture would be delivered within the next week (since some of my stuff was coming from Tulsa.) Last Monday, I received my coffee table, and my mattress (I still needed my bed frame, and my couch.) I was supposed to get my bed frame last Monday as well, but apparently they dropped it when they loaded it onto the truck, and cracked the foot board. On a positive note though, the delivery men were very polite, helpful, and cleaned up.
Yesterday (Thursday) I finally received my bed frame. The foot board is cracked, scraped, and the delivery men seemed very rushed. I was in the living room, while they were in my bedroom putting my bed together (very quickly.) And before I even got a chance to look at my bed, they had me sign, and rushed out the door. I went to check out my bed right after they left, and noticed the cracks on the foot board, and they left plastic wrappers all over my floor. I was EXTREMELY disappointed, and to be honest, I think I might just deal with the cracks so I don’t have to deal with calling Mathis Brothers again.
By the way, its been 4 weeks since my purchase and I still don’t have my couch. I am not sure when I will ever get it. It had to be delivered from Tulsa, but, I don’t see how that should take 4 weeks. It doesn’t make any sense. I am very frustrated and extremely disappointed with the way everything went this time. I will NEVER shop at Mathis Brothers again, and I will be sure to tell everyone I meet who needs furniture to look elsewhere. There are far better places in OKC to shop for furniture. Where prices are cheaper, salesman won’t harass you, your payment options will be discussed, your delivery will be on time and your furniture will look brand new (the way it should look.) I regret shopping here again.

Best advice you’ll ever get about this joint: when you walk in the door, step brightly to the Customer Service kiosk that is always manned, you’ll see it and make the following statement… enunciate clearly and distinctly and make/​hold eye contact with the person at the kiosk:
«I’m a paranoid schizophrenic and I can’t STAND to have someone hound me from the second I walk in and follow every step I make throughout this large, well stocked store! I’ll find someone if I want to buy or quiz you about ANYTHING AT ALL! Thank you!»
of course, if you need help, work that salesperson like a red headed step-child’s rented mule that you’ve borrowed… they’re cool with that, which is a good thing when you have questions or want to know or see…

I love the selection, there’s a lot of EVERYTHING here… I bought a $ 2500 sectional couch, which was delivered with a big grease smear on one of the cushions. the bottom cushion. they’re still trying to hook me up with a BACK cushion to replace it, even after I carried the 36″ square seat cushion in to show them it was a SEAT… but they’re trying… the delivery guys were very diligent and noticed it right away, wrote it on the invoice. great delivery men! I have faith it will be replaced before Memorial Day.
I bought a four piece queen bedroom set here for a KILLER price… still in love with it, it is great, especially at the killer price
Bought a $ 300 recliner chair… it’s good
Bought a Serta mattress. dang, chile! it’s comfortable. and a good price
Bought a bistro table and four stools for a price I won’t even mention it was such.a.deal.like it a lot, too
If you have a problem here… ask someone
if they tell you the couch is stuffed with down, and it’s over 10′ of couch. apply common sense, I mean seriously
I find the staff to be great, every body is busy in this world, have some patience and you’ll get through, you’ll get your problem solved. if that’s too much to ask, IKEA is in Dallas, I hear… you tote that home and put it together yourself, miss/​mister know it all
PS.The bargain area in the back of the store… some of that stuff you’d buy so the barn dog had something to get off the ground when it’s cold outside, but the major part of that area is DEAL CITY! Some serious bargains back there. just don’t go on a weekend morning, please don’t go on a weekend morning. hehe

I ordered a bed for $ 2300 worked with a designer and everything. I custom ordered the bed and had to wait 10 – 12 weeks for the bed to be delivered. Two weeks into my order the designer Sue M. Called me and informed me that my bed was going to be $ 330 more then what she quoted me. I had a receipt/​invoice and everything and she informed me that I could pay the money or cancel my order. Worst service ever!!! I cancelled my order and called back to speak with a manager and he apologized but still refused to honor the original price I was quoted and that my receipt showed. He said he would eat half of the up charge. Highly disappointed…

I bought furniture from JoJo Jacobs back in 2007. I was surprised to see that he was still working there after all these years. He was cordial, tells you like it is and made the whole furniture shopping process smoother. I only wish he would have done a better job demonstrating the Lazy Boy recliners and. convinced me to buy it instead of a Lane.

Jeff Wright is the best salesman hands down! If you want a quality experience with a knowledgable, kind, and easy to work with he is your man. Our experience has been wonderful and we will be back! NO SHOPPER STALKER experience for us.

Here is my complaint that I filed with the BBB if you would like to read it.
Third piece of damaged furniture bought from this store. Customer service with regards to this issue is terrible.
Purchased a sectional this year. One of the legs was damaged and we noticed before it was loaded. Got 2 of 3 pieces home only to find that another one of the pieces was also damaged. 2 of 3 new pieces were delivered 2 separate times to our house during working hours (meaning time off work).
Purchased an entertainment console ¹²⁄₂₉. Got it home to find it was also damaged, significantly. It is pretty obvious, though not definite, that this piece of furniture was damaged by a forklift. Meaning either the manufacturer or store damaged this piece of furniture and then chose to sell it regardless (a forklift operator would have known they damaged this piece of furniture). Called the store on ¹²⁄₂₉ and was told Customer Service was closed until 9am. Called Customer Service at 9:20am on ¹²⁄₃₀ and spoke with Nicole and then proceeded to ask to speak with a manager. Nicole told me that she would call the drivers delivering on ¹²⁄₃₀ and see if any of them were able to deliver a new console that very same day. She told me she would call me back within an hour. I called back at 10:20am, was told she was still calling drivers and that she would call me back in a «few minutes». I called again at 11:20am. Was greeted by a nice gentlemen that told me Nicole had stepped out and she would call me when she got back, proceeded to ask to speak to a manager. Was told a manager would give me a call back. Nicole returned call at 12:15am and told me she couldn’t get the new console delivered that day. I told her to schedule me for tomorrow. She told me that she did and that I would be receiving a call between 4 and 6 with regards to delivery time for ¹²⁄₃₁. I told her I expected a credit to my account and she told me that she credited my account $ 72, which would be 10% (have not seen in account yet). I received no call from a manager and no call for delivery. I called back at 6:50pm and was told by the same gentlemen I spoke with earlier that I was not scheduled for delivery, that he could not add me on, and that all the managers had gone home. I asked him to call a manager, he refused. I told him to leave a note for his manager to let them know I was filing this claim out and then to schedule me for the next slot… which is (delightfully) New Years Day.
Mind you, I explained to each person I talked to how much trouble I had. I also let them know that this is not the first time and that we don’t have cable or internet because we unhooked it thinking we were bringing home a new TV console. Yes, we could have hooked it back up, but I was under the impression I was getting the new console either on ¹²⁄₂₉ or ¹²⁄₃₀. I am not generally one to complain, nor have I ever filed a complaint before now, but this is the poorest customer service I’ve dealt with in quite some time.

People (myself included) have a tendency to complain to others (and online) when a company does something wrong, but feel less inclined to tell others when a company does something right. There’s research to support it actually. If you have a bad experience, you rant about it 95% (actual made-​up statistic) of the time and you will also be sure to tell more people about your bad experience. If you have a good experience, you think you deserve it and feel less inclined to share about your pleasant experience. And if you do share, you share it with less people. Because… human beings.
So here I am trying to remedy that. Mathis Brothers took care of an issue I was having with a recent purchase of a dining set. And they took care of it fairly quickly. Or rather, they made an effort to take care of it fairly quickly. They’re apparently taking a page from Apple’s customer service book. Within 40 minutes of my (previous) long-​winded rant, they contacted me requesting more details about the sale in question. Within a day, Katie from customer service tried to expedite the process of getting the repaired table leg back to me.
Granted, they put the wrong glider on there, which still made the table uneven so we had to send it back. Again.
I would have been furious if I had to go back to the store a fourth time, but since they delivered (and took it back) I wasn’t angry. Only further inconvenienced. There was also talk about free assembly, which the driver didn’t seem to know about. But by the end of the whole process, I was informed that I was getting a brand new dining set; one (that would be assembled this time). And as promised by Katie, yesternight, the delivery guys delivered (for free) a fully assembled, new dining set.
Really, this whole experience wasn’t fantastic, but a solid A for effort, so an overall grade of B? One thing is for sure: this isn’t the Mathis Brothers I’ve dealt with in the past. The Mathis of old was disingenuous and not actually willing to make an effort when I complained about something to them. The new hotness Mathis is… paying attention. That is fantastic. And kind of scary…
Now if everyone (customer service, repairs, delivery, etc.) can get on the same page, it would be even more fantastic. Regardless, as a result of my recent experience with them, I’m willing to give them another shot in the near future. Just… make sure to check your furniture before you leave…
Also, recent discovery: Mathis Brothers has some furniture options that are cheaper than IKEA. Than IKEA! (Edit: after writing this review, we purchased an Ashley sofa/​love-​seat duo from Mathis Brothers, and it was cheaper than buying a single sofa from IKEA. It was delivered with few issues. Surprisingly, Ashley furniture is significantly more expensive when purchased from the Ashley Furniture Store in Norman, even if the furniture in question is the exact same thing being sold in Mathis Brothers. I’m not sure I understand how that works).
I still hate Galleria furniture with a passion. See? Still sharing that bad experience even now. It’s Science.

I bought 2 mattress covers recently and then tried to return them. One I opened and realized it was the wrong size when I tried to put it on the bed (my fault), the other one I didn’t open because they weren’t the same as the one I purchased before. They didn’t have the microfiber top and they had a strong chemical odor to them which makes it unusable for me with my allergies. These were definitely not the same quality as the one I have purchased here before, which is why I came back to purchase 2 more. Way too expensive for what they are, but if you buy them «with» the mattress then supposedly they warranty the mattress against stains. If you buy them on their own then obviously there is no warranty, so you might as well just get them somewhere else cheaper.
They let me return the unopened one with no problem but wouldn’t let me return the opened one which unfortunately for me was the one that was the wrong size.

The thing that confuses me about this store is their approval process for the 90-​day no interest deal. The only thing I can think of is that they are comfortable with their monopoly-​like model within the OKC market, and therefore have no interest in customer service or customer satisfaction.
I furnished an entire house in one purchase. Bob Mills has a 60-​month no interest offering, and MB only has a 90-​day same as cash deal. I asked our MB sales rep if they would be willing to extend the 90 days any given their competitors 60-​month offer, and given the fact that I was about to spend a lot of money on furniture… two things that I assumed would get us an extra month or two. She made some calls, and was told no… over the phone. They did no credit check, no discussion, nothing. The MB sale’s rep tried hard to help us by making several calls, but it was obvious whoever she was calling on the other line had no interest in helping, or even extending the courtesy of coming to speak with us.
So, we went to Bob Mills and had a great experience. We furnished our entire house in a little over 3 hours. The Bob Mills furniture is excellent quality, and a few months into the purchase we know we made the right decision.
Bob Mills has a customer for life, and obviously we’ll never go back to MB.
