History
Established in 1949.
The Oklahoma League for the Blind (OLB) was founded in 1949. The OLB moved to NewView’s current headquarters at 501 N. Douglas Ave. in 1973. In 1998, CEO and President Lauren Branch founded Oklahoma Without Limits (OWL) Camp for blind and visually impaired youth.
In 2007, the Merrick Foundation awarded a $ 15,000 grant to begin a Vision Rehabilitation Services Program. In 2008, the OLB received ONE Award in the category of Self-Sufficiency. For the 60th anniversary of our organization in 2009, we changed our name from the Oklahoma League for the Blind to NewView Oklahoma.
In 2012, Impact Oklahoma awarded NewView a $ 100,000 grant to begin building the Low Vision Clinic (710 W. Wilshire Blvd.). This is the only comprehensive clinic in the state.
NewView Oklahoma is looking to expand its rehabilitation services across the state, hoping to open low vision clinics in all quadrants of Oklahoma.
