History

Established in 2007.

Oklahoma’s own New York Bagel Café started in the mid 80’s by 2 guys from New York that had extensive experience in the water-boiled bagel industry. New York Bagel Café sold their business which included over 60 stores nationwide, and Oklahoma didn’t have a real New York style bagel shop since the turn of the millennium.

As some of the original employees at the at the 1st Oklahoma City New York Bagel shop; Danny Cowan and Wayne Hansen decided to open their own version of the famous bagel café. Danny having renown success in the bagel industry, with 2 of the most popular Bagel shops in Denver, CO., approached Wayne who had managed many fine dinning and resort style restaurants across the country over the past 20 years with the idea.

The first location was selected close to where they grew up together in the Quail Plaza shopping center at Hefner and N. May Ave. Old School Bagel Café was born in the summer of 2007.

Now in 2014 they currently have 8 locations with plans for 9 and 10.
