After taking the car back for a 2^nd time to correct the power steering issue I now, almost a year later am still having issues from the 2^nd visit. They told me to drive it a while and let the kinks work out. Just long enough so my warranty was no good so I’m stuck now with a car that sticks when I turn and will hardly turn half the time and makes a whine that the guy said was plastic rubbing when I brought it up. I can jiggle the wheel from side to side while driving and it doesn’t phase the car. This place is a rip off. They are crooks and I will go to my death warning people. Now I’m left with a car that I’m terrified to drive long distances due to worrying when the wheel will get stuck. I tried months ago to get the problem looked at again and they said no warranty that I would be charged. I am a single mother living pay check to pay check with no assistance and this is how pep boys treats people.

Customer service was phenomenal! Guys were very friendly and helpful! We bought a battery and they even helped us carry it out. Also, when it didn’t fit the battery mount we were able to exchange it without a hassle.

Went there for an alignment and tire rotation. After more than an hour, was told they «Don’t have the proper tool» to do an alignment on my vehicle. Odd that a ship that does alignments wouldn’t have the proper tools to do one on my Dodge Ram pickup, considering everything on it is s5andard, but whatever. When asked if they had at least rotated the tires, I was given a flat no, with no offer to get it in quickly and done, or explanation as to why they hadn’t done it.
Then, to add insult to injury, I got in my vehicle and there was a check engine light that hadn’t been on before.
This place is shady, dirty and not worth your time.

Came in for new tires. Made an appointment. Staff was polite and took my car in on time. Complained about it being cold and the service man politely got my jacket from my car. Tires were inexpensive but good quality. No complaints!

I had a 9:00 appointment and waited over an hour to even get my vehicle pulled into the bay. The service people said the mechanic was late and the he would get right on it!!!
The people here are very rude and don’t seem to care about customer service. They all seem preoccupied with personal matters. Young lady at the register was on computer adjacent to the register area surfing the web. Customer walked in and she kept calling him «honey». Wow

Never Pep Boys again.
In the past I had been a customer in both Kansas and Illinois and I was in need of a tire last week while driving in from Wichita but I left without giving them my business.
I had a tire blow out on by 2012 Nissan Versa and needed just one tire as I had drove over 100 miles on my donut. They gave me a price on some off brand tire for about $ 50 so I left the Wal Mart (they gave me a price of $ 64 plus taxes) and drove about 20 minutes away for a deal. When I arrived the guy asked what I needed so I told him what I was told over the phone. He was ready to write me up but I said I needed a total with any installation fees and taxes. He then said the $ 50 off brand tire was now over $ 90. My jaw dropped and I said for one tire you are going to charge me over $ 40 in taxes and installation. I was vocal on how much a rip off it was and left. I ended up finding someone in town for $ 66.16 taxes and installation got a tire installed.
Over this experience and blatant intent to rip me off I will never step into a Pep Boys again. Keep in mind this was a off brand tire for a sub compact car.

Watch out! Masters of the bait & switch! Quoted $ 30, when we went back, price jumped to $ 125. If my daughter had gone alone, no doubt they would have tried over $ 200. Shady operation – recommend you stay clear.

Went in at 4:45 to get my oil changed. I was told it was 31.99 for a standard oil change. I asked them if they were going to use the oils that is recommended from the factory on my truck and they said yes. When the asked me to select the brand I told them the brand but that my truck requires synthetic blend. They then told me my oil change would be $ 67. I was disappointed that I was told they would use the recommended oil but when they showed me the oil, it was not the right kind.
They then said they would start on my truck in 25 – 30 minutes. I said that was fine and that I was going next door to academy. They then said they would call me when it’s done. I spent an hour and fifteen minutes at academy. When I went back to pep boys they said they hadn’t started yet but I was next and they will start in 5 – 10 minutes. I went to the waiting area and waited 45 minutes and my truck never moved. I walked to the service desk and asked them what was taking so long. They then said they were about to pull it in. I went to the waiting area and sat for fifteen minutes and my truck didn’t move. I went to the service desk to see four of their employees goofing around. I then asked for my keys and left.
No one at the service desk apologized for the poor customer service. I won’t be back anytime soon.

Let me suggest that for a certain subset of men like me, an honest car mechanic is exceptionally important. When my wife determines something is wrong with her car, she does not pretend to immediately understand the problem. (Unless a wheel has fallen off — she’s very good at noticing that sort of thing.) Rather, she will take it to a mechanic, listen to what he says, and then use intuition and common sense to determine the appropriate course of action. Because I am genetically unable to admit ignorance, I will not do this — I will research the problem extensively, make a diagnosis, and then confidently inform the mechanic that even though he literally does more car maintenance in one morning than I have performed in my lifetime, I know what’s wrong and how to fix it.
This Pep Boys won my business because the first time I pulled this stunt, the mechanic politely informed me that there was an alternative to my proposed solution that would cost far less than what I was proposing. Intentionally passing up money in the name of honesty was a huge plus, of course, and they had my business for years. The problem is that over time, lots of other people have figured that out as well and the place became swamped. As demand rose, customer service declined, they took away a lot of the discounts that made it economically worthwhile to repair my old car, and otherwise lost a lot of what made them great. It’s still serviceable, but I recently went ahead and bought a new car because I couldn’t count on them for top-​notch service like before.
There’s hope for them to turn things around, and if you don’t have a better option, you could do worse for your car repairs.

Most expensive oil change I’ve ever had. $ 80 & it took nearly 2 hours. No price listed for oil changes-​shady.

Went from 5 stars to 3. They scuffed the aftermarket 19in wheels on the BMW. Very surprised they had the rare tire spec in stock. The only place that was opened after 7. I was told they have around 1800 tires in stock at all times. They put on a tire backwards. They fixed it.
