Disappointed. The waitress came to the table and asked for our order and in the middle of taking it she turned to talk with another employee. That was ok not a fancy place anyway. We ordered the potato skins as an appetizer. They brought out my salad before the app. When the appetizer arrived, I was shocked. $ 9 for one baked potato quartered with cheese and fake bacon bits thrown on top. No sour cream served as the menu stated. We had ordered the beefeater sandwiches. The description on the menu was much better than the taste. The meat had been heated and burned on the grill. It was super greasy and tasted horrible. Later, we both had major upset stomachs. The pies are not what they used to be. When they first opened, their pies were beyond compare. Now, they use fake cream and cheap ingredients. Better pies in the frozen section at the grocery store. Two thumbs down.

The place was filthy and food was gross. We will never go there again. It was a month or so ago. We should have turned around and walked out. Lesson learned!

The food all tasted like it came from cans. Was cold and not what we expected. Service was super slow Even the pies weren’t that great. It was 85 degrees inside and the whole place smelled of sewage

I used to really like this place until I found 2 roaches, at separate visits, in my food. That totally did it for me. Needless to say, I will NEVERBEBACK! I’ve always thought the place looked dingy, dusty and run down. Now I know they truly don’t care about cleanliness. Yuck.

Love this place! The food tastes fresh and homemade, good service, and huge portions for a good price! If I recall correctly, it was about $ 15 on average for: a soup or salad, main entrée, two sides, bread, and slice of pie. What a deal!

Food is straight out of a can. Not at all impressed here. Save your money. Not worth your money or time! A lot of people must get up and leave for lack of service. Once seated in a booth, we were asked if our meal«was for here or to go.» Wish I had took the hint.

I do love their food but the last three times I went there I almost couldn’t make it to the bathroom by the time I got back to work. That’s a no go for me :(

This place was really good. It was my wife and I first time here. She got the lunch special. A turkey sandwich and loved it. I got the chicken fried steak and navy bean and ham soup. It all was very good. And u get a pie with every dinner. Man the pecan pie was the bomb. My wife got the peach pie and loved it.

I haven’t been to Pioneer Pies since I was maybe five when I lived on this side of town. I had completely forgotten how ridiculous of a good deal it was. Probably because I was five and it’s not like I was actually paying for anything. Whatever, I’m an adult and I can nostalgia all I want. Chicken Fried Steak 4⁄5: MAYBE a little small, but honestly when you consider that you’re getting soup(or a salad), two vegetables(or a potato, which isn’t a potato a vegetable?), and a slice of pie I’m okay with this being a little on the smaller side of things. Definitely delicious, very tender and flavorful. The gravy that’s on it was tasty as well. The veggies, black eyed peas and green beans, were good. It can be kinda hard to make black eyed peas good so that was impressive. The cheddar and bacon soup was legit as well. Also, dat cornbread. Gimme some of that please. Chocolate Pie 2.5÷5: It was good, but definitely not the highlight of the meal for me. It just had a really… off taste to it that I’m not sure I was expecting. I couldn’t place it, and I ate all the pie because I’m a fatty, but I wouldn’t order it again. I’d probably give this place 3 stars, but for what you pay compared to what you get it deserves an extra star for that. The health conscious might dock it for that because it’s a lot of food. Like, family dinner at grandma’s amounts of food.

More around a 3.5 but not close enough to a 4 for me, so 3 it is. The service was prompt and friendly and our drinks remained filled. That’s all that really needs to be said about that. The food was so-so, but good enough. You get large portions for the price –maybe too large, but I digress. Meatloaf(comes with two sides, a soup or salad, and a choice of bread. Also comes with a slice of pie) 2⁄5: I’m very particular about meatloaf. I’m accustomed to a very savory taste, and I’m not a fan of a heavy layer of ketchup/tomato sauce over a meatloaf that makes it oddly sweet, which was the case here. The meat was more soppy than I’d like, and not firm enough. It fell apart easily. Okra(side) 3⁄5: Overall the fried okra was alright. It wasn’t all seedy and unpleasant and it wasn’t mushy. The breading they have could use some work in the flavor department and it could stand to be a bit more crisp. Green beans(side) 3⁄5: Green beans are green beans. They were fine, likely out of some sort of can. Bacon and cheddar(soup with meal) 4⁄5: Another large helping even though it comes with a huge meal. The cheddar taste wasn’t overwhelming and the bacon was quite crispy and tasty. They have different soups available each day, and this one was for Friday. Corn bread and butter(with meal) 3⁄5: There is some amazing corn bread out there, but this isn’t a part of that. It was decent. A bit too big and too crumbly given the size. It was impossible to get a chunk of it off. The butter was supposed to be sweet but it wasn’t all that sweet or flavorful. Butterscotch pie 4⁄5: Pioneer PIES, remember? This is where it gets good. The butterscotch pie slice was huge and amazing. Not too sweet, but juuust right. The butterscotch candy chips on top were a good addition. My only gripe is small and it’s that I’d prefer a more pronounced crust. I tasted my boyfriend’s chicken fried steak and it was much better than my meatloaf. I’d advise against the decison I make if you go. Otherwise it’s a solid enough choice on that side of town.

Came to lunch with my 5 year old niece, who is a princess btw. Service was very good and Food was delicious. I had the lunch special that included ½ sandwich(I had the Beefeaters) and a cup of soup(creamy broccoli.) The sandwich was outstanding and the soup was… Well, not perfect, but pretty taste. It was really just a matter of taste. I, personally like cheese in my broccoli soup and this did not come that was but overall it was pretty tasty. My niece was a little disappointed that they didn’t serve Mac & cheese but she got over it when she realized we would both be having pie for dessert. Place has a very country feel and reminds me of my memaw… I will definitely return.

Pie. I love pie. Pioneer Pies has been my go to for dessert for holiday events since I have became an adult. I always get the peanut butter or chocolate peanut butter pie. and I’ll admit, I sometimes tell people I MADE it. The pies are so big white delish whipped cream. I have only eaten in the restaurant a few times and it’s pretty good too, they offer sandwiches, and breakfast. Every time I have been in the employees go over and beyond. Oh my gosh. Pioneer Pies even offers MAIL A PIE, they mail a pie for $ 30 anywhere in the US. Here are the pie choices! Apple Sugar Free Apple Banana Cream Sugar Free Coconut Cream Butterscotch Cream Cherry Sugar Free Cherry Cherry Crumb Cherry Cheesecake Chocolate Cream Sugar Free Chocolate Cream Coconut Cream Dutch Apple Chocolate Silk German Chocolate Cream Lemon Meringue Millionaire Cream Mince(seasonal) Peach Peanut Butter Cream Peanut Butter-Chocolate Cream Pecan Pumpkin(seasonal) Rhubarb Fresh Strawberry(seasonal) Strawberry Cheesecake(seasonal)

Stopped to PP’s for a quick dessert after dinner. Don’t get me wrong this place has some decent food, well at least the last time I ate here. This time it was all about the pie. I had the pecan pie. Which in my opinion is the second best pecan pie that I have ever eaten. The pies don’t stop there though. They have a list of what must be 20 or so pies. Strawberry, Cherry, Apples, Cheesecake, Chocolate, Peanut butter chocolate, and the list goes on and on. The service at this place was nice and friendly. This place is great for a stop after dinner and just for dessert.
