Security Lock Service has served the OKC community for over 50 years in the same location at 3413 NW 23rd St, 73 107. We offer both in-​field service along with a brick and mortor shop that you can walk into for any of your lock and key needs. Family owned and operated, we specialize in commerical, resisdental, and automotive lockwork along with selling, moving, and repairing safes. We also cut and program computer-​chip auto keys and factory auto remotes.

History

Established in 1960.

Security Lock Service got its start in 1960 by Tommy Minick who opened the business in his deattached garage next to his house on 23rd St. Later, the city decided to build I-​44, having it cross NW 23rd. Tommy bought the homes on each side of him, tore everything down and in 1971 he built the 3 tenant building we are in today. Tommy and his wife Nelda raised all the children, (4 boys and 1 girl) in the business. After surviving the 1980’s tommy turned the business over to his daughter Kris and her husband David in 1993. Unfortunately we lost Tommy in 2003 to a heart attack. Nelda, Kris and David are still in the business everyday along with Lindsay, the 3rd generation that is up and coming.

A locksmith in Edmond sent me down this way when I needed a safe serviced. I figured they had to be good if someone all the way up in Edmond recc’ed them.
And indeed they were! My safe’s lock was picked within 5 minutes, something that she only charged me $ 5 for. But alas, I had no cash on me and they require a $ 10 minimum; however, I happily tipped $ 5 just because I was so happy to have access to all my important docs, back-​up hard drive, and various and sundry pictures again!
Definitely give them a try if you’re in need of a locksmith!

Counter service is friendly, workmanship is questionable.
Brought in my vehicle to repair a door lock and program a spare key. Later returned for multiple services.
Technicians set the door handle where the window would not roll up due to the door handle rod being misplaced. Took the vehicle back to fix this mistake and ended up in a small argument with the technician before actually receiving proper service. The door handle is a bit loose and the side of my door is scratched up, but at least I can open my door and roll up my window again.
The spare key was programmed but battery failed to work after four months (normally lasts years with regular use). The chip was lost during battery replacement, causing another reprogramming fee. This was simple misfortunate, however during the wait, I requested to copy a house key. They accidentally copied the wrong key after a suggestion to take only the specific key that needed to be copied.
Prices are great compared to auto dealerships but my experience makes me cautious.

We use this company for our locks (security, lock out tag out, key reproduction). They are great, fast and very reasonable. They have a great waiting area complete with a TV and good seating.

I had an old mortise lock that was progressively getting in worse condition for some reason. Locking it and closing the door became very difficult. Then, one day the lock wouldn’t even turn. I called Security Lock Service and they sent out a guy to look at it. He fixed it very quickly and even worked on a few other issues with the door to make it easier to close. He was very polite and very efficient. The price was what I expected (not bad) and they stayed within their quote range, so I was happy with that. I’d definitely use them again.

My wife and I bought a used car, so naturally with every used car purchase you get 1 bare minimum key, because nobody ever gives the remote entry fob or the backup key when they sell a used car.
Anyway, we talked to two dealerships (Chrysler) and the cost to get:
Key x 1
Remote entry «Fob» x 1
plus required «programming» for the pair,
Bob Moore on NW Expressway totaled $ 250+
David Stanley on I-​35 in Norman totaled $ 200+
Security Lock Service (reviewed here) totaled $ 116 and change.
Took about 15 – 20 mins of watching some awful show about illegal Moonshiners being rednecks and making moonshine while playing with their pet deer/​opossum and panicking when a fire-​fighter shows up to survey some burnt down cottage. Seriously, there’s a reason I don’t watch TV anymore. But I digress…
The keys all appear to work, as does the «Fob» (I prefer the term «chirper»). I would have given them 5⁄5 stars, but there was a discrepancy in cost as follows:
Over the phone I was quoted: $ 48 for the key, $ 40 for the Fob, programming included in the cost.
In person I was told: «actually it’s $ 116, I’m not sure why you were told $ 88 on the phone.»
Still half the cost of the dealerships, so I’m overall happy. Just wish I had been correctly quoted the first time.

After a brief panicky moment where I couldn’t find my car keys after flying home to OKC last week I realized I only had one set. Not smart. I was lucky and found my original, so I set out for another. Problem is, I have one of those programmable key fob thingies instead of an actual key. I’ve heard horror stories of dealerships charging as much as $ 250 and up for a new one so I bought a blank off Ebay for $ 25. Now to get it programmed…
After a brief Google search I noticed Security Lock Service which is just off I-​44 and N.W. 23 St. It just happened to be on my errand route for the day so I stopped by. It’s very easy to get to and you can’t miss the sign. The people were very friendly, and told me they could program my new key for $ 35. Thirty minutes later I left with a new, working key for a lot less than I expected.
They do about every type of key here, including Harley-​Davidson which can be hard to find sometimes. So if you ever need a new key for four wheels or two, I’d recommend checking here first.
