This is not a foodie place… and that’s fine. If you’re looking for something special, go somewhere else, but I definitely wouldn’t say this place is going to be regrettable. We had quality food. The soup was tasty. The pizza was acceptable. The chicken fingers were juicy, not cardbord. The mushroom swiss burger(s) were chared nicely(though overcooked) and had an excellent bun(s). The wings were delicious. This place feels like a cafeteria, due to the lighting, I think. The movie memorabilia on the walls was interresting. Service was decent, as was the time we waited for our food was not excessive. Up until this point I had rated this place 4 stars. The bill reflected the tourist nature of the town. $ 8 burgers were $ 10. A taste of soup was $ 3… Did I love that my bill was 20% higher than it should have been? No. Was I OK with it, given the fact that town was packed and I was full in the time it would have taken other places to seat us? Yes.

I was in Old Forge a few days after Labor Day, and picked this place solely for convenience. Ordered a Chicken Caesar wrap(to go) and was surprised at how good it was. The building looks like it was converted from an old Howard Johnson’s restaurant, so wasn’t expecting too much in the way of quality food. They definitely didn’t skimp on the ingredients: my sandwich was stuffed with chicken. The Caesar dressing on it was homemade, with a nice tangy flavor. And the cook must have been feeling pretty good, because he even drew a little Front Door logo on the top of my to-go container. Very charming. I had to eat while driving, and my sandwich stayed hot for a good 30 minutes after I left the restaurant. The one thing that didn’t please me about the Front Door is that a $ 1 «To Go charge» was added to my bill. Never heard of such a thing. If I’m not taking up space at a table and not demanding anything of a waitress’s time, what’s to justify the added charge? Overall, I enjoyed my sandwich, and would stop there again next time I happen to be in Old Forge.

Nope. Tourists Beware. Was so disappointed that our last meal on our vacation was here bc we didn’t have time to wait at Walts or Keyes so we went here. very obvious why there is no wait. this was the only establishment in Old Forge that I felt like we were bothering the waitresses. We ate out for 4 days straight and never had an issue and felt like other places go above and beyond. how do you not automatically give syrup when people order french toast and pancakes? They didn’t have a kids breakfast menu or they just didn’t give it to us. that means you pay adult prices for kids. ridiculous. I ordered a breakfast sandwich scramble. picture attached there seriously could not have been more then maybe one egg at best and that’s pushing it. I really wanted egg in my scramble but the server said she was sorry and I could order something else or they could make it again but they would not credit me for the meal and would charge me to make it again. wait what? I showed her but she said sorry that was their rule… I was floored. If I was in New Jersey I would’ve escalated to the heavens but wasn’t in the mood to end my trip on a negative note in front of my kids. $ 45.00 for 2 adults and 2 children for BREAKFAST. Nope. go to Keyes Pancake house, food AND service was 100 times better and we fed 6 people for $ 50 with a whole bunch of extra sides of bacon.

The one thing you can usually count on in any dinner is chicken & biscuits. But you can’t throw a grilled chicken breast on some rock hard biscuits with canned gravy & call it chicken & biscuits. Fish special was good, kids meals ok, but no health sides for them.

Six of us stopped in for lunch on a busy Saturday in Old Forge. We were seated quickly by a friendly waitress who brought silverware after she brought our meals & never returned to check on us or refill drinks, we only saw her again when she brought the check. She forgot the appetizer all together & brought it at the end at no charge which was good because they were the most flavorless garlic knots ever. My husband & I both had the gyro & potato wedges which tasted great & was sufficient for me but left him hungry. Others with us had a Caesar salad which was huge & looked great, only complaint was the dressing wasn’t Caesar-y, but tasted good; a couple wraps, which were plain, lacked flavor & were light– didn’t fill the kids up for lunch at all,(they weren’t on the kids menu either & we never have that problem). From the kids menu we had a Mac n cheese looked like week old Kraft that was scraped out of the pan and microwaved without even a stir to try to make it look somewhat appetizing. Overall the service was bad & portions small, some food was good, some awful. We won’t be back.

I wanted to try this place because the location got me curious, right in the middle of Old Forge. There was not that much chicken in the chicken and biscuits dish. The gravy was salty and didn’t really have any flavor. Biscuits tasted good and mashed potatoes seemed fresh & made from potatoes. Kids meal pizza was bad even for a kids meal pizza. Service was acceptable but not great. The food took awhile to come out and that surprised me because we mostly ordered things very simple to assemble like sandwiches and salad. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked.

Really good food! Actually, so much better than the others in the area. You just have to live with the diner atmosphere. My Reuben was excellent!

This place is the place where the locals hang out. If you want good drinks, great beer and delicious food, check this place out. Drove 600 miles to go rafting on the moose and had dinner here afterwords. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Best post rafting food I ever ate hands down. People were friendly/fun loving etc. not a classy joint but def a welcoming and fun one. Bought drinks for myself, my buddy and several others and the bill with a generous tip was only $ 40. I was amazed. I really liked the décor. Lots of unique beer signs etc. good looking bartender and both owners were on site having fun with everyone. Check this place out!

Stopped for lunch on a fall foliage trip to old forge from Syracuse for my 11 yr wedding anniversary. 80 degree day, September 27th, and no AC hotter then hell. Food was very subpar. We both got wraps with turkey. The turkey was cheapest of cheap wafer turkey, the waitress had no clue when we asked questions. Service was terrible, I wanted to leave no tip but my wife insisted I leave something so I left $ 1.60

Went for lunch with a group of 6, kids & adults. We were seated promptly and our server was very friendly and attentive. A few items were out but other than that, we had an excellent lunch at a good price(considering the touristy nature of the town!). I had the T & D(or was it T&B?) burger with jalapeños, bacon and cheese. It was excellent! My boys both had the chicken tenders from the kids menu and they were good sized and served with their steak fries(which are delicious). And my Dad enjoyed his swiss n blue burger. It’s not often that my family all agree on a restaurant so the fact that we all enjoyed our lunch is definitely saying something :-) I’m sure we’ll be back.

Good food… Nice clean place… Very slow kitchen and unattentive wait staff… Did I mention the kitchen is slow??? It took 45 minutes to get breakfast for 3 people…

Two stars, only for the décor. The food was average, for the price. My mom’s salad had a rotten cherry tomato in it, and when it was shown to the waitress, all she did was shrug her shoulders, and say sorry.(Didn’t offer to remove it from the bill, or bring a fresh salad?!?) The bar in the back looked cool, but I wouldn’t advise eating here.

I like their concept of a bar in the back and a diner in the front. They had posters of American icons and vinyls hung up all around the diner. It’s a charming place, and the service is friendly. I had the French dip sandwich and I was very satisfied. Very very satisfied. I’d go back again if I was ever in town!

My little girl ordered a grill cheese sandwich for kids, What came out of the kitchen it was very poor at best. One piece of bread folded over toasted only on one side and American white cheese was not melted. Wow she was not a happy camper and ask what is this!!! Most kids cheese sandwich are made out of American yellow cheese, that’s was what she looking for. They did replace it with some Mac and cheese that she likes. Now my wife ordered the turkey sub started out OK at first but a bug came walking out of it as she pickup the other half of the sub. The cook came out of the back and told us the door is open and this is the Adirondacks the bugs are allover. They offered to replace it or order something else but my wife was not having any of that. My gyro sandwich and our calamari appetizer was OK. The waitress tried hard to make it right and remove things from the bill but the damage was done with the attitude from the kitchen. It’s a safe bet we will not dine here again anytime soon.
