We proudly scoop Salem Valley Farms ice cream, yogurt and sorbet, Libby’s of New Haven Italian Ice and Guida’s soft serve.

Recently renovated to now include fresh coffee, pastries, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, newspapers, cold drinks, ice, groceries, candy and snacks (including health-​conscious ones).

History

Established in 2009.

South Lyme Scoop Shop is a family-​owned ice cream parlor and store located in the South Lyme/​Point O’Woods section of Old Lyme, just minutes from the Old Lyme beaches and Rocky Neck State Park.

A nice place. Friendly employees. They serve Salem Valley Farms ice cream. In my opinion, they don’t keep the ice cream cold enough. Their dished ice cream is weighed, which seems weird… A medium, 2 scoop sundae was $ 7.00+, including tax, which seemed a bit expensive. They have hard ice cream, soft serve, and Italian ice. They also have candy and drinks.

Visited here once during the summer and ordered the grasshopper shake and a coffee Heath Shake. Both were absolutely delicious. The lady working there I think was the owner because she had two little kids running around behind the counter. She was very nice though, as expected from Old Lyme.

Been there three times — friendly and knowledgeable service every time. Ice cream is really amazing and in addition to the decadent ice creams (which are work trying) they have a soft serve «tart» frozen yogurt. Try the coconut ice cream and the coffee heath bar crunch.

Ice cream was sooooo delish. If you weren’t paying attention you might pass this gem of an ice cream shop by. All we can say is stop by and enjoy some of the best ice cream out there. The cow tracks ice cream with obscene chunks of chocolate, plentiful pb cups and swirls of peanut butter is to die for and our scooper for the evening was a gem. Thanks for a new fave ice cream pick!

In a beautiful scenic area off the 1 and right in front of the train tracks. A hidden gem! This place has the best ice cream, I think I had raspberry cheesecake or something similar and it was delicious. They have a cute little set up with little tea tables and chairs and a picnic table on the side where you can sit by the train tracks (from the other side of the picket fence of course) and have ice cream. So cute!

Delicious Salem Valley Farms ice cream without the long drive. The staff is very perky and friendly and the ice cream nothing short of perfectly creamy & fabulous.
Sure we wish there was more ambiance to the location, but I’ll gladly grab an ice cream here then head to White Sands beach or the Great Island/​Smith Neck boat launch to sit an enjoy the ice cream with a view.
