This place is listed on AARP’s Travelocity site as a 2 – 3 star, well we have contacted them and gave them an ear full, contacted the BBB in Maine, and are going to contact the health department in Maine, this place is dirty beyond dirty, I have seen college frat houses cleaner then this place after a major Frat party weekend, if that does not tell you how dirty this place is. They do not even have more then a dollar store blanket on the bed that had stains on it, we were walked to the room, myself and my husband said no way we are not staying her and we would like a refund of our $ 500 for false advertising for our 2 night stay. They said no way, so we contacted credit card company and they stopped payment after they checked Unilocal and its photos. Beware of this place!

I had to give them at least one star, because I didn’t have the option of half or less… Disgusting place, very old, and falling apart. Don’t stay there even for one night.

Do not stay here, was told updated and clean it is not! Dirty, room smelled and the staff didn’t care. Was told trollies run every 15 minutes when it was every hour and half. Very old and uncomfortable beds.

We were not looking for anything fancy or special, and I do think basic cleanliness is a fair expectation. If you don’t want to feel itchy and/or skeevy, this is not the place for you. I can’t describe the smell, but I can tell you that our room had no garbage can and a lightbulb over the bathroom sink was missing. One of the beds was BROKEN; one of the wooden support beams under it was falling off. The revolving cabinet door wasn’t attached to anything and was also broken. If you have small children, the exposed electrical wiring is cause for concern. Oh and there was chewed gum in the dishwasher. Don’t stay here. Seriously.

This place was really terrible. It took forever to check in because they lost the reservation for a man ahead of us, and couldn’t find the keys for another couple ahead of us. The room was musty and seedy, the beds uncomfortable. The wifi didn’t work and the hot water did not work for us both mornings. The price was not cheap either, though I understand it was Fourth of July weekend… But seriously for $ 200/night I at least expect to be able to take a hot shower in the morning. Do not stay here.

I checked in last night for 2 nights and after lookin around and laying on the most uncomfortable bed ever! We checked out without even staying one night. They have me money back for sat night but not Friday. I could have argued but hopefully they will use the 90 dollars to put some pans and silverware and clean plates in the kitchens as most people so not travel with this stuff. Oh and I would rather sleep on a bed of nails then those double bunk beds they have. Do yourself and your family a justice by passing right by this flea bag of a hotel.

A.k.a. Bates Motel. Changed rooms three times to get A/C. Only stayed two nights of five night reservation. Floor was so dirty had to wear shoes at all times. And — why did Aaron the desk clerk wear handcuffs in a pouch on his belt?

I have a hard time giving one-star reviews, so I’ll give the Grand Beach Inn an extra star for not being on fire while I stayed there. That’s gotta be worth something, right? In some ways, the Grand Beach Inn fits in perfectly in Old Orchard Beach. The place itself is slightly seedy and mostly dumpy — a vacation spot that seems stuck in a previous era in a not-really-quaint kind of way. The Grand Beach Inn would have been considered a fleabag motel 30 years ago, by modern standards it’s an absolute dive. The rooms are dark, musty, and just feel unclean. The wifi didn’t work and the air conditioner struggled mightily. The beds were less comfortable than the iron throne from Game of Thrones. The motel is so skeezy that it almost has it’s own charm — if you like that sort of thing. As I lay there trying to sleep on the world’s most uncomfortable bed I wondered how many people had contracted STDs in that room, because I’m that type of guy. But a cheap fleabag motel is only charming if it’s actually cheap. The room at the Grand Beach Inn(granted, on a weekend at the height of tourist season) set us back a pretty penny.

This place is the WORST. Dingy and grimy. Mattress graveyard out back next to the train tracks. When another customer complained about his room’s smoky scent, the girl at the front desk stated at all the rooms are«supposed to be» smoke free. Gag. Broken A/C. Sleep on the sand before staying here, folks.

The only thing that deserves a star was the good customer service of an older gentleman working behind the reception area. He was very informative and nice. Also any of the other staff that we interacted with were very friendly. Other than that, it was just unpleasant. As soon as we opened the door to our room, a very humid, somewhat floral masked stale smell wafted out. The fridge stunk like heavy bleach(at least it was cleaned), had to wipe it down again before putting anything inside of it. Rust on the bathroom floor, and very very long black curly hairs in the shower were also a room plus. There was a flat-screen TV, and that seemed to be the only thing that was new in the room. The beds we slept on were terrible, it felt like sleeping on a mattress stuffed with cardboard. Two unpleasant nights of sleep, plus waking up with the stiffest back imaginable. My goodness. We realized that the cleaning ladies forgot to pick up a french fry in between the two beds, we named it Ted and he remained in the same spot on the floor until check out day. There’s a little café in the parking lot, but it wasn’t open at all while we were there. It would’ve been nice to have that, seeing as any sort of store/food is at least 10⁄15 minutes walking distance away.(I don’t mind the walk, but I was with someone who couldn’t). We sat by the pool one of the days, and the water was a perfect temperature. The beach is also a minute walk across the street, and it is really nice. My last night there, I stepped out on the balcony to take a phone call and there were people sexing in the little pool(it was pretty funny). As said in a previous review, a trolley will pick you up directly in front of the Inn(for $ 1) and bring you downtown(super close to The Pier) If you choose to walk downtown, it’s about 1.4 miles away.

This place double charged my credit card ! ! Do NOT stay here. I don’t know why the board of health doesn’t close this place down. Our stay there was horrible. What a waste of money. The hot tub was broken, coffee maker broken, door knob broken… don’t leave any valuable in the place. They do a heavy amount of business online with Expedia and Travelocity so they continue to get people in who come in and trash the place. Save your money.

Yikes. This was a last minute trip and this place was one of the few places that still had an available room. Things started going wrong from the second we walked in. It reeked of a very gross odor which they tried to mask with some fruity air freshener. We left the door open to try to get some fresh air only to see that there were 5 large spiders about to drop into our room. When we went to get ice(for the much needed alcoholic beverages we needed to remain there) we noticed there were loads of spiders, webs and eggs all along the ceilings of the hallways. We went to move a chair and the back broke off. Luckily we had a sleeping bag in our car to cover the most likely filthy sheets. The only good thing about this place was that the trolley into the center of town stopped directly outside the parking lot and we had a quick escape.

Ok, seriously if u want to see a roach motel like the ones in the movies come here. You will get a first hand experience. Place smells, no wait stinks like cat or dog piss, very dirty, missing curtains, pillow seemed like it was a bag of cotton balls. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place, you probably be more comfortable sleeping on the side of the road. I wish I could of gave it NO stars!
